Take omeprazole (empty stomach in morning) and antacid gel and see if it helps. Liver and kidney dysfunction is another cause. Hence kidney and liver function tests should be done. Other causes are diabetes and hypothyroidism. Electrolyte imbalance too can cause nausea. IBS, gluten or lactose intolerance, parasites in gut too can be the cause. A stool test should be done for worms, giardiasis etc. Also if nothing is found then food challenge test to detect food intolerance should be done.

His doctor told him it sounds like GERD (but I have GERD, and I never had any thing like that before), so he went to a GI and he was given Omeprazole, and told to come back if it happened again. A week later he was sick and so the GI said it sounds like IBS and was given Levbid Er to take twice a day, (but I have not read anything about IBS causing vomiting- or being so debilitating for one day and the rest of the time having NO symptoms whatsoever).
The second time she acted like she was going to vomit, sounded and looked like she was choking, then passed out with out vomiting. She was extremely tired and had a bad headache for several hours. She was coherant, talking and could move okay. She had lost her appetite and has some stomach soreness and cramps. Any ideas?

I have horrible bouts of coughing which are followed by vomiting and a light headed feeling. I have been terribly fatigued for about 2 weeks with this because it just takes everything out of me. I do not have insurance so I have struggled with going to the hospital because it will created an enormous amount of debt with all of the tests they may take. I am just really beginning to get scared because this cough isn't getting any better. What could this be?
It is bothering me because I really thought it was gone and it just stays going across my belly. On and off I feel like vomiting. I did visit my doctor 3 weeks ago and prescribe me Ciprofloxacin (3 days course) but doent not help. Frequently visiting the toilet and most of the times I have to urge to visit toilet only. Alchool and little spicy food make it the burning 10 times worse. Any suggestions.
WHEN I TAKE ANTACIDS LIKE MALOX OR MYLANTA, THINGS TO GET WORSE FOR ME, I HAVE THESE DRY BURPS(FEELS LIKE AIR IS COMIN OUT), AND I JUST KEEP BURPING AND BURPING, I DONT HAVE REGULAR BOWEL MOVEMENTS, AND IT SEEMS LIKE THE MUSCLES IN MY THROAT BECOME TIGHT, SOMETIMES HARD TO SWALLOW, SOMETIMES I EVEN HER SOUNDS IN MY THROAT(TENDS TO BE A GURGLING SOUND), I SLEEP WITH THE HUMIDIFER ON AT NIGHT, BECAUSE I HAVE A BLOCKED NOSE. I DONT THINK THIS WOULD GIVE ME ALOT OF GAS WOULD IT?
They initially thought it was acid reflux and tried a stirct diet along with a few different medicines - Nexium, 2 OTC Prilosecs, Omeprazole, and Dexilant. None of the medicines interrupted his usual pattern of vomiting and it doesn't seem to matter what he eats. Our current gastro has admitted that he can not come up with a diagnosis or an idea for another scan to try.
When I eat, on occasion (2-6 times per month)I start to choke, I cannot breath or talk and them my body appears to take over and what I have eaten is expelled. I cannot hold off the vomiting until I am in a more appropriate place it happens at the worst possible times. It is a serious problem and I know I need to go get help but I keep hoping it won't happen again. I have noticed that it tends to happen during busy stressful times.
If it occurs a few hours after food then there may be a stricture or tumor or obstruction slightly lower down in the digestive tract. Over the counter antacids and omeprazole may give relief. I would strongly recommend you see a physician about this and get yourself investigated accordingly. Excessive drinking, smoking, caffeine, fried food should be avoided. Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage.
Some months ago I had a severe vomiting episode and since then I have been feeling throat pain and swelling in my throat daily as well as pain and difficulty while talking. The vomiting incident happened at a birthday party of a friend. That day I didn't eat much and also exercised a lot so the alcohol I drank really affected me. I had previously never thrown up due to alcohol as I rarely drink even socially, but that evening I vomited violently for several hours.
He is almost 17 and has had issues with morning nausea and vomiting for several years. It comes and goes and lasts 3-5 days. It will wake him up in the morning for several days and he will either vomit (most often only once) or feel nauseous for an hour or so and then is perfectly fine the rest of the day. When it ends he is fine for several weeks before it starts again. He is otherwise very healthy and active although quite thin, even on the edge of being underweight.
I can tolerate taking OTC Prilosec but when they put me on Omeprazole for acid relux I got so sick with a headache and vomiting. Why would I react to one and not the other? Thanks.
Never has vomiting made my thoat feel so raw. It has been over 12 hours since the vomiting episodes and i still have the shakes and have only had water and half of a banana. When I tried to each my stomach hurt and I was unable to eat anymore. I have a Dr's appointment tonight so I HOPE that they send me for tests. I will mentione the things I read in this thread, and I hope they take me seriously. My regular Dr is on vacation and I get nervous with seeing someone else.
I'm currently taking OTC Omeprazole, Metformin, HCTZ, Lisinopril and Wellbutrin and Phenergan for nausea (which doesn't help).
I was prescribed omeprazole, and it helped with the heartburn. Soon after I got different symptoms which were occassional and are now daily. I feel like my life is slipping away from me. It happens mostly at night (I dont sleep much because of it), I get an irritation in my throat, then start gagging and sometimes vomiting. It happens almost all night long. Sometimes in the day also. I went to my doc and she has now had me try Nexium, which is not working.
I can not stop them and now I can not even eat at all or I just vomiting continuously. I have not ate a meal in over a month and kept it down the only thing I can usually keep down is about a cup of sprite a day. I am so dehydrated and no longer trust any of the gastro dr's in my area as they are all in the same group. I do not know what to do as I can not eat and do not ever want a feeding tube again!

I woke up at 3 am this morning with similar symptoms. I started vomiting and my entire body felt like it was on fire. I had taken a Lexapro right before bed, so I stopped taking that. I plan to call the doc, but curious if you found out the cause...
Then about a month ago, I started getting heartburn, along with nausea and vomiting. Soon, I also had bitter taste in my mouth. I got prescription for prevacid again from my doc, and I also tried OTC meds(tums, etc), but none of them worked. In fact, the symptoms are getting worse. (I am being very careful with my diet currently. No fatty, spicy food.. small meals..
Many people cannot eat high fat content, dairy products, they become lactose intolerent and some even have problems with some fiberous vegetables, I suggest that you monitor her intake and reaction to certain foods and see what does and oes not bother her. Again this is very common.
In all probability, your Gran has severe acidity with a bad gastric reflux. Try antacids and omeprazole (this empty stomach in morning) along with probiotics and see if it helps. If it does not then I am sorry, it could be something related to a stricture or a tumor in the upper gut (esophagus). It could just be age causing all these problems. Do discuss this with your doctor. Take care!
I had a very strong burning sensation in stomach and lower esophagus and was extremely nauseated, vomiting after I ate anything besides crackers. I saw my gastroenterologist who prescribed Zegerid (PPI). The acid reducer helped with the burning, but I was still vomiting multiple times a day. The doctor then performed an endoscopy but found nothing wrong with me. I had been vomiting for two weeks, however, and it did not stop so he also prescribed Zofran.
My brother (Caucasian male age 22) is currently sick and has been for a week now (since April 10th). He vomits and burps often. He eats little and cannot hold down what he does eat. When asked about his symptoms he says that he has been feeling tired and has little appetite, and when he tried to eat tonight (even a little), he experienced extreme gas which he could not expel by burping, and which caused him to throw up.
Nausea off and on but no vomiting. My throat feels scratchy like when catching a cold and I have a non-productive cough. I am really dizzy when sitting or standing after lying down. Breathing seems labored at times but not short of breath. I am taking omniprazole(sp). Should I be concerned about this? I had biopsy which was negative for malignacy but shows mild chronic esophagitis.
i get a feeling of feeling sick and go through the motions of vomiting but nothing comes up and feel dizzy but it only lasts a few seconds and then im fine again but just feel uneasy
