Avatar f tn Ask your MD to do a full Iron profile blood work with Vitamin B12 to determine if you have some type of anemia or not. Fatigue is a side effect from breathing issues similar to yours as you stated too.
1364792 tn?1278051187 I started taking omeprazole for acid reflux but stopped it after reading about the side effects, anemia as it takes out vitamin b12,broken bones as it takes out calcium and a risk of severe cold infections as it takes out vitamin c.A local doctor links acid reflux with anemia,so I started taking multi vits with iron and the acid reflux disappeared.
Avatar f tn The first few things to be ruled out are iron, vitamin C and B12 deficiency. Then it can be an allergic reaction to something you eat or your tooth paste. It can also be acid blisters due to a bad gastric reflux. Take Omeprazole empty stomach in morning and an antacid gel at bedtime. Refrain from smoking, alcohol, fuzzy drinks and spicy food. See if this helps. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Take care!
Avatar f tn I have to stop omeprazole two weeks before a blood test to see if i have coeliac. Previous blood tests shoe that i'm anaemic & have low vitamin b12 levels. Does anyone know how long omeprazole take before it gets out of your system. I would appreciate any ideas or if anyone has the same thing...
Avatar f tn Omeprazole lowers stomach acid essential for absorption of nutrients. The number of nutrient deficiencies that list fatigue as a symptom are numerous but include iron, vitamin B12, and magnesium. The newest warning out for PPI's like omeprazole is magnesium deficiency. Studies found deficiency within 1 year of taking the drug however a few showed deficiency within 3 months.
Avatar f tn Try vitamin B12 immune booster. It has helped me tremendously. This vitamin helps with the development of healthy blood cells, nerve cells, and proteins in the body. It also helps with the metabolism of fats and carbohydrates. This medicine is used to treat people who can not absorb enough vitamin B12. I felt an instant reduction from PATM when I started taking it.

Avatar n tn I do know that GERD medicatons tend to cause malabsorbtion problems and b12 is a water soluble vitamin and the stores we have tend to get used up pretty quickly when you don't absorb. Dieting can also lead to quicker depletion. With thyroid problems the vitamin d is usually low as well.
581954 tn?1223391496 Is it possible for this to be a side effect from Omeprazole? And how long does it take to get out of your system? I have heard it could take 3 months and I have heard it won't take longer than a week??
Avatar f tn Nexium also affects vitamin B12 levels because the body can’t absorb the vitamin without stomach acid to uncouple the vitamin from protein in food. It also affects the absorption of calcium, which in turn can lead to osteoporosis and fractures. Discuss your concerns with your doctor before stopping any medication. I hope it helps. Best luck and regards!
Avatar m tn I woke up 15 years ago with lower back pain. It hurts when I move a certain way. I can live with that. I woke up 10 years ago with knee pain. Neither have changed. No better or worse. Exercise, diet, Cordisone and Hyaluronic injections acid, rubs, creams, fat stem cell shots...Knee ex-rays show I do have medial bone on bone in knees and osteoarthritis (OA). I felt a bit like I had a brain fog so I got checked out for that. One test after another. MRIs and auto immune test.

Avatar f tn Is it common for those with ms to have abnormally low levels of vitamin b12? I read that a vitamin b12 deficiency could mimic symptoms of ms but that doesn't explain remissions. Any information would be helpful. Thanks!
Avatar f tn Low/deficient vitamin B12 is usually due to conditions that cause malabsorption unless you are a vegan/vegetarian. Vitamin B12 sources include fish and shellfish, meat (especially liver), poultry, eggs, milk, and milk products. Excerpt from "Skin rashes from vitamin B12" by Ed Donner: "Side effects of B12 supplements are rare, according to Southern Care Healthcare Group, and generally occur with the injections and not with oral supplements.
Avatar f tn Hello. I have low thyroid, vitamin d deficiency and low vitamin b12. I was wondering if anyone can help me with experience with vitamin b12. Can you suggest what kind, also if you have felt better after starting it. Thank you so much for your input. Vitamin D 25.
98474 tn?1240105274 Just wanted to say Hi to all and let you know that after 2 months on vitamin b12, the overwhelming weakness in my legs is GONE after 6 years! The heat is not even making me feel weak! I am amazed and hopeful that this is indeed the main answer for my ms symptoms. I guess time will tell. If this is the result of my Mayo Clinic visit(they told me the b12 was not the total answer to my prob even tho they couldn't tell me what it was) then it was way worth it.
Avatar n tn I take vitamin B12 Complex once a day and there are no side effects to this dietary supplement. This is actually a great source and mineral for the reduction of anxiety disorders. Of course, like any oral med/mineral, it's possible to overdose...but you'd have to take a hell of a lot to get to this point! To me, u cannot get enough of Vitamin B....
Avatar f tn I started getting injections of B12 a two months ago. And the effects have been amazing with respect to energy and alertness and a bit with the pain! I tried the daily dose of liquid for about a month and found no difference. I hate having to go to the office for the shot, bu it is really worth it. I wish my doctor had thought to check my B12 levels earlier.
Avatar n tn Eat a diet high in vitamin B12 and see if this improves your serum levels. The best sources of vitamin B12 include eggs, milk, cheese, milk products, meat, fish, shellfish and poultry. Take probiotics to help increase good bacteria in the gut and make sure you have adequate stomach acid. If low, then supplement with betaine HCI with pepsin; supplements found at health food stores.
