Omeprazole doesn't normally delay your period. However a lack of Magnesium can and Omeprazole can bring your Magnesium levels too low... So, were I you, I would take Magnesium, Potassium and Calcium supplements or just a good Prenatal vitamin. You don't have to be pregnant to take Prenatal vitamins - they are the best - and contain Folic acid which many women lack.
However they are very expensive and the VA does not carry them. So I started taking one every night and the omeprazole in the morning. If I miss the magnesium I will see an increase in pvc's. Will magnesium cure it? Do not know but been taking them for several months now. Also get off of caffiene, sugars and soda.
For this reason you should avoid large amounts of foods that have a high potassium content, for example dried fruit, bananas, tomatoes and low sodium salt, while you are taking this medicine, also avoid potassium supplements. I had a bad reaction from eating these foods. I had been warned about grapefruit juice, as it increases the amount of Prograf in the blood-stream. I did not know about the problems with other foods. Being a health food addict, this is what I eat.
This reflux can cause foul smell, feeling of froth in throat and a burning sensation. You will need a combination of medicines and life style changes for this. Omeprazole is a good drug to combat this. Along with it you can try over the counter antacids. However I would recommend you see a doctor and take medication under a doctor’s supervision. Avoid heavy meals and eat frequent small meals.
Also, the feelings in the chest could be due to acidity and acid reflux. Take Omeprazole empty stomach in morning and an antacid gel at bedtime. Refrain from smoking, alcohol, fuzzy drinks and spicy food. You can pick up weight if you drink coke etc as these have too many calories. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.
Often times people who take beta blockers have high blood pressure and also take Lasix, a strong diuretic and must take a very strong potassium supplement. HOWEVER: if someone is prescribed Spirolactone, another diuretic at the same time, as I am now, excess potassium in pill form and in the diet has to be avoided.
He eats everything and anything! He has a tremendous appetite and isn't picky (which is good seeing as he's allergic to wheat, dairy and soya!) He's had loads of blood tests but so far no-one has mentioned his sodium or potassium levels so I assume they are normal. His iron is often low which is why he's been on an iron supplement for so long (just come off it). What is the theory behind craving salt?
During the night the pain wakes me over and over, and I cannot find a comfortable position to relieve the pain. Without these pain meds, I have been having to crawl out to the kitchen counter, dragging my cane, then with MUCH effort and pain, I can manage to get myself somewhat upright (bent over the counter with left leg unable to straighten out, let alone be placed flat on the floor.
It is Wednesday now and the pharmacy has received no prescription from them. I have been taking omeprazole 40 mg, and now I have pains in my chest area. I'm 18 and I am average weight so I know it can't be my heart, but the pain is worrying me anyway because I don't know what it is. I don't think my doctor is very smart either because my mother went in with severe pain in her sides and a rash on her throat and the doctor said she could have HIV.

I have studied the entire human body (in my profession), and have close friendships with several internists. However, I have no health insurance. Based on what I've studied and have been told, the most likely culprits are gastroparesis (very slow emptying of the stomach) OR gall bladder disease.
However they could also be due to severe acidity and gastric reflux. Take antacid gel and Omeprazole and see if it helps. Get your kidney function, parathyroid gland function and adrenal function tests done because these affect the electrolyte balance in the body. Stress, alcohol, caffeine and fatigue all cause similar symptoms.

- Omeprazole - 20mg tablet daily Presartan - Losartan Potassium 50 mg tablet daily 2 and a half years ago I had Hepatitis A. I now also take 2 herbal Milkthislte/Dandelion capsules daily which is supposedly good for the liver Omeprazole can have a side effect of causing sore gums. My doctor tried prescribing other GERD medicines. I tried 3 others and this made no difference to the sore gums. Does anyone have any advice, knowledge or suggestions on my problem of sore gums.

hi, My doctor asked me to get an appointment with a nutritionist, but it's 200$ an hour, and I cant even afford food much less that.. Anyway - My situation is, I've been having bad chest pains for 2 years now, and an Upper GI discovered a possible hiatal hernia/Gastronal issues. Here's the contrast: http://sadpanda.us/images/1295791-9HJDUS1.png I stopped drinking carbonated beverages and eating any citrusy/tomato things, and my chest pains 99% gone!!! SO HAPPY!
I also take multi vitamins including D, potassium and magnesium. I've been to several unhelpful doctors and my current family doctor threatened to fire me if I continued taking supplements. My endo's not much better.
I have taken ritalin for ADHD for 15 years. I also take Zocor for cholesterol, allopurinol for gout and omeprazole for stomach. I have also been diagnosed with psoriasis in small patches around my face and hairline. I am a veteran and utilize the VA hospital for medical treatment. They have listened, but don't seem to place much priority on the inability to sweat. Is there anything you can suggest that might get the sweat glands working again?
Take omeprazole (empty stomach in morning) and antacid gel and see if it helps. Liver and kidney dysfunction is another cause. Hence kidney and liver function tests should be done. Other causes are diabetes and hypothyroidism. Electrolyte imbalance too can cause nausea. IBS, gluten or lactose intolerance, parasites in gut too can be the cause. A stool test should be done for worms, giardiasis etc. Also if nothing is found then food challenge test to detect food intolerance should be done.
The meds I take for my issues include Losartan,Zofran, Potassium Chlor., Fuerosimide, Omeprazole, Azopt and Travatan as well as Morphine Sulphate and Hydromorphine to control the pain issues. I have had numerous blood tests that always come back fine, my thyroid is fine. I have constipation issues but thought it was from some of the meds I take. I have no pain in the stomache area. I get nausea wether I eat or not, it doesnt matter. And I make sure I eat when I take my meds.
My doctor has also given me Provigil and Cymbalta for the fatigue, but neither of them help at all. I also take potassium and Vitamin B suppliments, among others.
i feel dizzy for days before, then out of nowhere my whole body tenses up and burns and feels like pins and needles. i feel detached from reality and really scared that i'm dying. they are horribly painful. i've had a ct scan, mri, extensive epileptic workups, heart checked out. hormones tested. since these attacks my emotional state has declined and i have become severly depressed and detached from everything. its hard to find pleasure in anything anymore.
My tingling/numbness sensation has come full force with my hands and feet, arms and legs. Coupled with a sick feeling in my stomach and major dizziness. I really want some suggestions. I feel like the doctors think I am crazy. All the tests have come back "normal" yet I feel awful! I go back to my internist, rheum, and neurologist next week....what should I keep pressing them to do? Tests?
Over-the-counter proton pump inhibitors include lansoprazole (Prevacid 24 HR) and omeprazole (Prilosec OTC). Contact your doctor if you need to take these medications two or more times a week or your symptoms are not relieved.
My concern is all the doctors seem to be over looking the numbness i've been feeling on and off -and are more concerned with the chest pains that they have all ruled out - numbness in the left side of my face and sometimes in my arms and feet. I was prescribed adivan and paxil, adivan I quit after a few month ( i tapered off) because it was making my chest pains worse. I have not had an MRI - nor have I seen a neurologist.
