Avatar f tn About 4weeks ago i woke up in the early hours of the morning with pain in my chest and upper back and vomited quite alot i went to work and got taken in to A&E by abulance because i was in so much pain and counld not stop being sick, they took blood test to make sure it was nothing life threating and gave me some morphine and sent me home the same night once pain killers had worn off i had to go back to A&E and the repeated the same as before.
Avatar f tn Over the counter antacids and omeprazole may give relief. I would strongly recommend you see a physician about this and get yourself investigated accordingly. Excessive drinking, smoking, caffeine, fried food should be avoided. Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage without examining. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar n tn I have a history of what seems to be pancreatic/bilary pain, boring through the epigastric area and radiating to the back since 2003. Has been thought to be pancreatitis but never showed up in the tests. Have had some liver function test abnormalities but these vary between slightly raised and normal. Have a small liver cyst on ultrasound.
Avatar m tn My girl friend/partner of 23 years of age has started getting abdominal pains one week ago (Beginning of Saturday Morning). The second day after having the pain she had an allergic reaction to mushrooms while eating dinner (Saturday Night). Sunday morning, she started burping a very strong sulphur smell. On Sunday night the pain deteriorated and I took her to the hospital.
Avatar f tn Post flare up the residual (slightly reduced pain) lingers. The back pain and tightness has been off and on constant for the past year. My GI has done elimination diets, ruled out CIBO, and ruled out ulcer. Hypothesis is GERD but I don’t believe this is the right diagnosis. I don’t have pain or burning in my throat or esophagus. I also take Omeprazole 2x daily. I’m a 30 year old female 122lbs and eat rather healthy and not overly fatty foods.
Avatar m tn Hence you need to investigate for liver and gall bladder issues, pancreatitis with tests for serum amylase and lipase, and to rule out acidity or duodenal ulcer by taking omeprazole and seeing if your pain responds to it. It can also be muscle injury, or nerve compression. Since I cannot examine you and know other related conditions you may be having, nor is a detailed history possible on net, I have listed the various possibilities that should be looked into.
Avatar n tn i am so glad I finally found someone with the same problem as I have, chronic pancreatitis. I have been going on a trial and error diet and don't want to get the pain and misery again! I did broil some chicken breast and had no problems. Also can eat about 2 ounces of tuna packed in water. As the pancreatitis has caused me to be diabetic that also causes problems. I am eating several small meals each day. Wouold be glad of any suggestions that have worked for some body else.
Avatar m tn If the enzymes are normal, then pancreatitis, duodenal ulcer, and uncontrolled inflammation in Crohn’s should be ruled out. Take a late night snack. Raise head end of bed. Take Omeprazole empty stomach in morning and an antacid gel at bedtime. Refrain from smoking, alcohol, fuzzy drinks and spicy food. Also, please consult your gastroenterologist to further manage Crohn’s. Take care!
Avatar f tn Italkr2 I’m sorry to hear that you have had all that pain! I’ve also been on omeprazole twice daily and just as you, have not had it reduce the flare ups. Mine also often occur in the middle of the night, which is very convenient ;) I use heating pads as well! I’ve also recently purchased a heated back massager as it seems to help relieve some, not all, but some of the back pain. It’s been a week since my last flare up and still have that residual back pain and some discomfort in my stomach.
Avatar n tn Take Omeprazole empty stomach in morning and an antacid gel at bedtime. Refrain from smoking, alcohol, fuzzy drinks, caffeine, and spicy food. See if this helps. If it helps, then consult a gastroenterologist. If it does not help, then consult your PCP to rule out other causes and get a 12 lead EKG immediately. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar n tn Yes, one can have acute pancreatitis or chronic pancreatitis. The reason why I think it is your liver and/or pancreas is that you mentioned the hypoglycemia symptom. Inflammation should show up on an US. I still think there is something going on with them. Diarrhea since 19? Please make sure you let the GI physician know about that. I am not sure if that is related to any food intolerance. As far as the antibiotics, I think they were aggrevating your gastritis.
Avatar f tn If the cause was not caught on CT scan and ultrasound, then the pain can be due to duodenal ulcer, pancreatitis, liver infection or due to adhesions if there is a history of previous surgery. Take Omeprazole empty stomach in morning and an antacid gel at bedtime. Refrain from smoking, alcohol, fuzzy drinks and spicy food. See if this helps. Pancreatic and liver function should be assessed. Do consult your doctor and discuss this. Take care!
Avatar f tn Had CT scan 2 weeks ago which showed significant inflammation in terminal ileum and old pancreatitis with calcification. Gastroscopy last week showed oesphagitis.Biopsies taken. MRI scan Nov 2007 showed two strictures in small intestine. Gastro has advised following until I see him in clinic 23 July: Double my mtx injections to 25 mg weekly. Add budesonide 9 mg daily Start elemental diet of Fortijuice today. Eat low residue diet if I can manage it. Have another MRI scan asap.
Avatar f tn A week later pain still constant but than as suddenly pain in belly button appeared and pain in shoulder gone. Than horrible pain in middle of chest and back between both shoulder blades after drinking a margarita and eating fried chicken which I hardly ever do.
Avatar n tn Trouble was I had a really bad Nicorette habit. Low and behold I have chronic pancreatitis and if I chew the gum--the pancreatic pain skyrockets. I would say "YES" Nicorette either causes, triggers, or aggrevates pancreatitis.
Avatar f tn I’m really anxious because suddenly I can feel my lymph node on right neck just below my jaw, so I went on Internal Medicine, the doctor said the sound was from hyperacidity so he lowered the dose of omeprazole and I will take it until next week and observe for the node for any changes. As if may came from my reflux. But now I don’t feel any changes on my node I can still palpate it. My worry now is my abdominal pain. Coz it was on and off and ranges from mild to severe.
Avatar n tn Sharp stabbing pain under left ribs could be due to acidity with gastric reflux or hiatal hernia. Take a late night snack. Raise head end of bed. Take Omeprazole empty stomach in morning and an antacid gel at bedtime. Refrain from smoking, alcohol, fuzzy drinks and spicy food. Walking around also helps clear gas. I would strongly recommend you to see a gastroenterologist (a specialist who looks after the diseases of our digestive system) if these tips help you.
Avatar m tn With low Vit D and low phosphate, you could be having parathyroid gland problem and should consult an endocrine specialist regarding this. If there is pain on pressing the point, then you could be having costochondritis. This causes pain and tenderness at points where your ribs attach to your breastbone. The inflammation around the joint area gives sharp pain on taking a breath. This can also cause tenderness on pressing the area which pains. An orthopedic doctor can diagnose this for you.
Avatar f tn It can also be due to acidity and duodenal ulcer. Take a late night snack. Raise head end of bed. Take Omeprazole empty stomach in morning and an antacid gel at bedtime. Refrain from smoking, alcohol, fuzzy drinks and spicy food. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Take care!
Avatar n tn Take a late night snack. Raise head end of bed. Take Omeprazole empty stomach in morning and an antacid gel at bedtime. Refrain from smoking, alcohol, fuzzy drinks and spicy food. Walking around also helps clear gas. Pain under right ribs with gas can be due to any inflammatory bowel disease like Celiac or Crohn’s, IBS or due to food intolerance. Pain under right rib case can also be due to pleurisy, asthma, or any other lung problems.
Avatar m tn s patients usually have low or no acid which makes me concerned about taking this. And I read about ensuring you space out when you take omeprazole. I also have low ferritin and was taking iron, which I saw online is contradicted. Does anyone have experience with taking this?
Avatar f tn im now being directed to take a gastric emptying study which i already have had done a year ago and those results were normal..my question is...is here a link between pancreatitis and bile reflux? and if so, would it not be indicative of an obstruction (due to the minor dilation) of my pancreatic duct....is there any remedies or speculation around these test results?
Avatar f tn I have tried different beds, etc. I went to PCP and he tried me on omeprazole...and librax. I have had an UGI and the only thing that shows is a minimal sliding hiatal hernia. I also had an ERCP done with an ejection fraction of 34. So far ...no diagnosis for this pain. The Gastologist does not think my pain is from the gallbladder or hernia. Sometimes after eating if I should bend over I get point blank sharp pain just below my left breast with instant palpitations.
Avatar n tn I had hyperparathyroidism and it was my understanding that was separate from my thyroid issue. I'm not sure that is clinically correct though. Hope you get more answers.
Avatar m tn Now its been basically non-stop, confirmed by mri, that it is chronic pancreatitis, and fatty liver. Im being sent to a pain specialist for the pain, and hoping he can offer relief, because Ive been recieving very little help from my doctor with that. Im 5'5", used to be about 138lbs, and now am 162, with gain of 10lbs a month on a low fat diet, no meat, no bread, soft food. I dont understand except unless wieght gain is from thyroid going wrong, im hypothyroid.
