omeprazole and heart

These are the same BS answers that everyone has been giving me for years. There is a direct correlation to position of heart and descending colon and or stomach when full of gas or matter. This is so bad that it applies pressure on my arteries leading to my face and skull causing vision and other problems.

Following a valve replacement and triple bypass I was discharged from Hospital with a number of drugs and a new one being Omeprazole. I did not know why it was prescribed but after a number of months taking it I decided after discussion with my Doctor to stop taking it. A few months later through the night I got this terrible chest pain on a scale of 1-10 I guess it was 7-8.

you should take it 30-60min before eating. Are you doing this? and i agree with bobby that what you are feeling is the acid reflux.

My doctor says the chest pains and burning sensations are probably gastric or maybe caused by anxiety. He prescribed omeprazole in July, I took 10 and saw no change although I did blame an attack of palpitations on them. I have started on Omeprazole again, for 4 days now (20 mg once a day). I see no improvement and get burning feeling on chest for long periods, its usually relieved when I lay down.

a few weeks ago I wake up from sleep and felt there is something wrong with my heart beat. I counted my heart rate and it was 50bpm. I had a sense of panic that my heart will stop soon. the day after I went to see a hear specialist. he took many tests(mostly because I did insist), electrocardiogram, echocardiography and exercise test(the test that you run on a treadmill and computer records electrocardiogram). he said everything is alright and there is nothing to worry.

Is it possible for this to be a side effect from Omeprazole? And how long does it take to get out of your system? I have heard it could take 3 months and I have heard it won't take longer than a week??

Rennies. If its soo bad your doc might prescribe omeprazole. I take them due to a stomach condition, I still get heartburn a bit though.

You are right about not being sure which one may be the cause but he still does not want me on them. I do use the Omeprazole and Zofran and I have a Mylanta simethicone liquid an ER doc prescribed. He wants me to try the Xifaxan again. Now have to see a Pulmonologist for the blood in sputum I just got up and am sick to my stomach and spitting up sputum. See an ENT dic today. I am wondering if that tooth infection caused all this.

mailed him about it and he doubled the omeprazole dose and perscribed one other medication that would control acid in a different way. During this time I developed what I can only describe as a "pounding heartbeat"...my heart doesn't beat faster...I've measured the bpm many times and it's the same as usual, however it feels like my heart is beating much harder.

22 weeks and I have alot of heart burn does anyone else have this

I had a heart attack in 2001 and had 3 stents implanted. My internist and cardiologist both said I would be on Plavix for the rest of my life. I tried taking aspirin with it and it caused me to have internal bleeding, so of course it was discontinued. Now I would only take aspirin if I felt that I was having another heart attack. The latest precaution about Plavix is to not take omeprazole with it (Prilosec, Prevacid or Nexium). Hope that helps, but you really need a cardiologist.

I originally was getiing very bad heartburn and then one day i thought i was having a heart attack. Went to doctors was told it was acid reflux had an ecg was all fine. I took the 40mg omperazole once a day for a month and i was still gettin very bloated to the point were i could not catch my breath and was causing left shoulder pain. I had to wait 2 weeks for and endoscopy.

If you think you might have acid reflux and your doctor gave you omeprazole to take and you take it but dont actually have acid reflux would that hurt you or just do nothing?

i had 24 hr heart monitor my doc took quick look before sending to cardiologist said my heart did race a lot and could be svt and gave me bisoprolol tablets then 2 weeks later got results back and was normal so came off tablets, also tried cimitidene tablets and now changed to laprosole tablets as gas issues still bad and nothing seems to help. my doc now says its anxiety and put me on sertraline tablets.

Was on Plavix and Omeprazole for quite a while. Eventually went off Plavix and kept Omeprazole. LAD blocked again in 2013, and a DES was placed inside the other stents. These occluded again this past November and I had a double bypass (LAD plus RCA). The RCA veinous graft collapsed this month and a DES was placed last week. Sooo, I am back on Plavix and Omeprazole. Thinking of maybe changing to Pantoprazole or just stopping PPI altogether.

Anyone taking Omeprazole and milk of magnesia on occasion for acid reflux????

Thank you for your help. It did subside, and the flu symptoms have certainly gone away now. I thought the pain in my chest had done too, but today it's come back, more promenant than before. I can't say it's painful, not even as painful as a scratch, it's just worrying and getting shorter apart. I asked my doc, she checked my heart and said it sounded fine.

if this was just a once off breathing problem it could be non-specific, but if it ever happens again, please go and see your Doctor or go to the ER as this could be indicative of heart, lungs or GERD issues and needs to be taken care off.

I have been desperately trying to quit Omeprazole for the last 5 years but have had so much problem with extreme acid release it seems I'll be with it for my life. Of course noone knows yet the result of taking omeprazole for a lifetime, mice had cancer after weeks but human might as well after decades. I can't replace omeprazole with ranitidine, as the latter doesn't seem to work at all. I've been able to lower the dose to about one 20mg in two days but not more.

s patients usually have low or no acid which makes me concerned about taking this. And I read about ensuring you space out when you take omeprazole. I also have low ferritin and was taking iron, which I saw online is contradicted. Does anyone have experience with taking this?

Could stopping zyrtec about 4 mos ago and starting omeprazole about 3mos ago cause ventricular arrythmia eg bigeminy? Could a histamine reaction cause this type of arrythmia?

This gave me like heart attack... chest burning and it was so strong that I had to call my friend who took me to hospital... doctor after examining gave me PANTOPRAZOLE 20MG to use before breakfast... I tried 3 days & it didn’t helped... Then I went to other doctor & he gave ESOMEPRAZOLE 40MG which I tried for 3 days & no improvement at all... So it’s very clear that I am living in 3rd world country with no good doctor.

Iam 8 weeks and iam getting heart burn. What can i do to help it.?

I too suffer from pvcs and heart burn/indigestion. My GP, cardiologist and EP all believe that reflux is a trigger. I have tried many acid meds and the one that works best for me is Omeperozole.
