If your main symptom is burping, I would try going off of the omeprazole and switching to gas-x or some other type of gas relief medicine. As long as you aren't having a lot of problems with heartburn or acid reflux, you would probably be fine to discontinue using the omeprazole. Otherwise, it is okay to keep using it until your symptoms are under control. Have you tried modifying your diet to cut back on symptoms?
Have you looked at the signs and symptoms of GERD or GORD. This is chronic reflux which causes heatburn and gas. Increased stomach acid after eating exacerbates symptoms as does the sleeping position. Usually the GP will prescribe PPI's like Omeprazole. If you aint happy taking meds, try some lifestyle changes. Google GERD and GORD though and you'll get some good info.
Last month my gastro doctor upgraded my omeprazole from 20mg to 40mg - mainly because my insurance company doesn't cover omeprazole 20mg anymore because it is available over the counter. So I have been taking 40mg once a day for about a month. Lately my stomach has been feeling a little queasy with bloated gas. I'm wondering if I'm getting too much omeprazole and may have too little acid.
I've taken either omeprazole or propranolol for gas and prevention of variceal bleeding due to portal hypertension on and off for the last couple of years with no ill effects. I had not taken the omeprazole for awhile but when I started treatment with sovaldi and olysio I started taking it again because I was having a huge problem with gas and pressure. recently ive been having more frequent heart flutters and skips with the sensation of passing out !! I have acid reflux bad I take omeprazole 40 mg I ran out of my meds and started taking over the counter omeprazole I had bad skips and sweats that caused me to go to the ER they did a stress on my heart said it was fine could there be a problem going on in my esophegous causing these heart symptoms? I have been taking 40mg Omeprazole for a year now for a stomach ulcer and because I also take celebrex 200mg for osteoarthritis I also have diverticulitis/ diverticulosis and had 30 polyps removed from my colon dec.
I developed really bad gas during treatment and it stuck around after eot and got worse. Now I'm having bad diarrhea and nausea and think it may be due to the Omeprazole. I take 40 mg daily and am thinking about going down to 20 mg. I found a study that says Omeprazole can cause SIBO (bacteria) in 50% of patients. I can't get into a gastro doc for another 2 months and think the diarrhea and inherent pain and nausea are driving my BP way up.
hello. I am 22 years old. For the past 2 years I have been having some gastro problems I cant seem to get rid off. I get gas whenever I eat anything high in carbohydrates. I cant eat and apple without getting gas. It always has a putrid odor. I wake up every morning with a stuffed nose and a white coating on my tongue. On days when I eat nothing or no carbohydrates at all, I wake with a clear nasal passage and very little if any gas at all.

I am 23F and have been dealing with a rather strange issue so I wanted to see if anyone else had experienced it. For many months now, my stomach has been producing way too much gas. It's constant belching to reduce the gas and it keeps going all day. I've been to the doctors, at first they found a fecal impaction and thought that was the cause so I was put on various stool softeners and laxatives to help that, most of which made me very exhausted.
Sarah, 19 years old, was having gas in the stomach and flatulance. Doctor presribed her omeprazole 20mg which she took that night and the next morning. The next day she noticed her stool was white and eyes slight yellow - sign of jaundice! I'm not sure if it was caused by omeprazol or otherwise.

I have severe vomiting, nausea and headaches. I am currently on omeprazole 40mg , I take 1 pill a day in the morning. My throat still feels as if food is stuck in there and my throat feels as if my throat was burnt severely and now it's sore. My stomach hurts, i constantly keep relieving gas. I would like some advice to what I should eat to make me feel better. Especially because of the vomiting & gas. I don't have insurance or else i would check myself into the hospital.
It could be gas, polycystic ovary, muscle pull, nerve impingement, kidney stone or even infection of the gut. Take Omeprazole empty stomach in morning and an antacid gel at bedtime. Refrain from smoking, alcohol, fuzzy drinks, caffeine, and spicy food. Walking around also helps clear gas. If it does not help, consult a doctor. Take care!
Last night I took 20 mg of Omeprazole and the pain under my ribcage and the constant gurgling went away. Now, a little less than a day later, the symptoms came back I took another tablet and the symptoms subsided. I have been burping just a little bit (I hardly ever burp normally). Are these symptoms indicative of an ulcer or ulcers somewhere in my stomach?
After every meal I get gas discomfort and have difficulty burping. I also constantly feel weak, tired, and have difficulty concentrating.
The issues are much worse whenever I try to do aerobic exercise, unless I can do it on a completely empty stomach, the gas pushes up into my chest and causes significant discomfort. Immediately when I jump in the water to swim, I feel the gas pushing upward (buoyancy). It causes such discomfort than I can't do these activities.

ve had excessive gas which I hear is normal from the air they pump in your stomach but yesterday I had the sensation of a knot in my throat and near my diaphragm and dizziness. I was diagnosed with Gastritis Jan 2018. I have lost over 30 pounds since I cant eat large meals and I cant eat a lot of foods. At this point everything upsets my stomach. I take extra strength Gas X all day. I was taking Omeprazole until I heard it was causing liver problems. NOW I don't know what to do. I went to GI doctor, I guess ill go back and spend more money I don't have. HELP!
He suggested a laxative to make stool softer and to continue with omeprazole. For the last week, when he passes gas, there is some diarrhea in his undershorts. Today, when he passed gas there was clear mucus. Can anyone explain what may be going on?
I have reflux and gas and it causes severe sharp pain in my chest that hurts mostly when I lay down. So it sounds somewhat like your problem. I take GasX (maximum daily dose all at once when I get it). I don't have it every day though. I take 150mg Ranitidine (can't think of the common name) daily when I'm having stomach pain. I'll take it for a month or two until the pain goes away.
