Avatar f tn Does anyone know if I can just take an omega-3 supplement, or should I eat all the foods this app is telling to to get it. I'm not much of a fish eater.
Avatar f tn you know, I haven't been taking the Omega 3 since I got pregnant - they make me nauseous. I just take my prenatals daily. I try to eat healthy(doesn't always happen) but i do try. I didnt take any Omega 3 with my other kids and their fine, so oh well.
Avatar m tn I took an Omega-3 supplement for the first time before going to bed last night, and when I woke up one eye was very swollen and puffy. The only allergies I have had are seasonal. Could I be allergic to the Omega-3 supplement?
518994 tn?1212242047 I read where Omega 3 was good for your dog. Is it a different Omega 3 or is it the same that humans take?
1655526 tn?1330655629 I know that omega 3 is really supposed to be good for the heart, but I get palps after I take them for 3 days, especially krill oil. I've read in this forum that others have also had adverse reactions to taking this supplement. So I wanted to put this poll out to see how omega 3 affects you. The first time I suspected krill oil, which is supposed to be the best omega 3, I used the process of elimination. Still not believing it I did it a second and third time.
Avatar f tn This really sounds like you are having a problem with your sugar. Unfortunately it doesn't always show up on a blood test. That would explain why the hospital wasn't able to detect a problem. You blood sugar level had already stabilized by the time you got there. Keep a candy bar in your purse and the next time you feel your blood pressure drop like this eat your candy bar right away. I am reccomending you to keep it in your purse incase you are not at home when this happens.
Avatar f tn I am a middle age female with a reaction to Omega supplements which I hope to find a way to avoid since I know that Omega would help me in many ways if I could take it. These supplements, along with acidic foods like citrus and many other fruits, ascorbic acid additives, Vitamin C supplements and vinegars cause rectal swelling, pain, bleeding and if I don't avoid the cause soon enough, proctitis symptoms.
Avatar f tn A half-cup of cottage cheese, 1 cup of yogurt or 1 ounce of hard cheese provide between 10 and 15 ounces of protein, approximately one third of your daily protein requirement. Omega-3 fatty acids. The nutrient is necessary for learning, concentration and memory, it’s essential to provide your brain with an adequate supply. If you don't like salmon, sardines or trout, walnuts, hazelnuts or cashews are good alternatives. Omega-3 supplements are also available in capsule form.
Avatar m tn Recently I heard that taking omega 3 capsules( the transparent one) will increase the risk of prostate cancer. Is there any scientific studies conducted on the subject?
Avatar m tn Quite a complex topic this but at the same time an interesting one. Omega 3 isn't just one substance, Omega three are fatty acids just like Omega 6 fatty acids found in oils and meat etc. Omega 3 are EPA, DHA, and ALA . Some experts have said that the balance between Omega 6 fatty acids and Omega 3 is key, but just as many say this is nonsense. Omega 3 do have benefits, mainly reducing inflammation in the body, such as in the arteries or joints.
317787 tn?1473358451 Hi there! I just found this group and was wondering if anyone had tried Omega 3 supplements. I am trying them now for stiffness in joints, body. I've also read it can help with brain fog or fuzzy thinking.
Avatar f tn The last thing is omega fish oils - you can get these in any health food store - they are just a vitamin but they contain the oils usually found in fish like omega 3 or omega 6 and taking them daily has been shown in studies to really help concentration. I hope this helps you. Also, you should know i used to be just like you and i promise the depression and anxiety thing gets better as you get older. its just something you get better and better at dealing with.
4274823 tn?1388529098 Thanks for the list. I avoid soy and flax due to a health issue. I do eat pumpkin seeds and walnuts as well as plenty of vegetables and fruit. Interesting about papaya. Ideally I would like to get it from food rather than have to purchase an expensive supplement that I don't feel 100% comfortable with.
1053987 tn?1279304510 I take Omega-3 supplements and Vitamin D. For Omega-3, you need to make sure that what you're taking has a high concentration of EPA fats, as these are the ones that will actually help with mood stabilization. Look for capsules that come from fish oil, not flax seed, because flax contains a different type of Omega-3 (ALA). I use a brand called OmegaBrite because my doctor recommended it, actually. Apparently it's one of the best out there to help treat bipolar disorder and depression.
Avatar n tn I am not sure of your question. Are you asking where omega 3 and omega 6 foods come from? Omegas 3 / 6 are polyunsaturated oils that help lower cholesterol and help prevent blood platelets from clotting blood vessel walls. The best source is fish especially mackerel, tuna, salmon, and lake trout. Fish should be eaten 2-3 times a week. Omega 3 are found in whole nuts, soy nuts / oil, and canola oil. Recommend 1-2 teaspoons of nuts daily. Hope this answered your question.
Avatar f tn What brand of Omega 3's are you using? I have been taking just the Kroger brand Omega 3's with fish oil concentrate. Should I maybe look at the health food store for some that are especially for pregnancy? Thanks!
Avatar m tn the advice about Omega-3, it is one of the supplements that has wide endorsement. One of the reasons it is helpful is that it contributes to plasticity in the neurons (cells of the brain) and this enhances the movement of electrical activity in the brain. Now there is no reason to think that Omega-3 will help with the behavior you are describing, but as a supplement that contributes to healthy brain functioning it can be useful.
Avatar m tn Most everyone knows or has heard about omega-3. The omega that many haven't heard about but that is very important to your health is omega-6. While omega-6 isn't bad in and of itself, what's bad about omega-6 is that Americans get too much of it. Having too much omega-6 and not enough omega-3 in your diet leads to many diseases. To avoid these diseases, you must keep these two very important essential fatty acids in balance or the right ratio.
1258062 tn?1299842031 what is the right amount of omega 3 during pregnancy? i got 1000 mg per softgel is that safe?
Avatar m tn Everyone knows how to do the bench press Lie on bench, grip bar, lower bar to chest, and so forth. But few pay any more attention to their foot position during bench presses. Try this Imagine that you're doing the exercise standing up. Set your feet in a wide, athletic stance. And push out the repetitions as if you were throwing the bar to someone standing in front of you, rather than lifting it off your chest. The extra force in your execution will result in extra inches on your body.
