omega-3

518994 tn?1212242047 There are various vitamin-mineral supplements available that contain this or you could just add a little (~1/2 teaspoon) extra virgin olive oil to your dogs meals. Olive oil is a great source of Omega-3 Fatty acids. The omega-3's are the same for people and pets. If you give too much the result would be a bit of gas and/or loose stool.
Avatar m tn Oh! I forgot, you would not burp the fish oil if you take the pill each time you eat something or after every meal, I have never had a problem with it.
Avatar n tn It is working very well, but his dose (after gradual increase to a point of benefit) is more than recommended. Can he overdose on 3 times the normal dose of purified omega 3 fish oil..the brand he takes is Health from the Sea PFO pure fish oil liquid. He takes twice the dose of the flax seed oil (same brand name).

1655526 tn?1330655629 Coincidently, around 12 years ago when my arrythmia took a turn for the worse, I was on a health kick, had decided to clean up my health and diet, and started taking fish oil with Omega 3-6-9 and borage oil because I had heard it was heart healthy and would lower my cholesterol. Never made the connection between the supplements and the worsening arrythmia. I was on several other self-prescribed vitamin and mineral supplements as well.
Avatar f tn The omega-3 fatty acids should be in your prenatal.
Avatar m tn 1%) in participants who consumedat least 250mg per day of omega-3 oil compared to participants who consumed less than 250 mg per day of omega-3 oil (P<0.0001) (4). Sudden cardiac death was defined as death within 5 minutes to 1 hour of symptom onset. There was no significant difference in the risk of a non-fatal myocardial infarction (heart attack) between participants who consumed equal to or greater than 250 mg per day of omega-3 oils and those who consumed less than 250 mg per day.
Avatar m tn The vet told me to give her fish oil, omega 3, or make her treats with it. I was wondering if the liquid fish oil you buy for dogs is ok to bake with. I'd like to make some treats, but I don't want to risk making my dog sick but cooking the oil. I also don't know if cooking it will defeat the purpose...if it was reduce the effectiveness of the omega 3s. Has anyone tried this before?
Avatar n tn If it were me, I would probably avoid the Salmon oil and use a different kind of fish oil. Carlson had a great one and I can tolerate it well, I have all kinds of allergies, but, this is good for me to take.
317787 tn?1473358451 Krill oil is a source of certain types of Omega 3 oils. There are different ones. Fish oil contains two types, and flax seed oil and hemp seed oil, for example, supply some as well. Now, I have a personal objection to krill oil, which is, krill are being killed off to get this oil and they are the food supply for most of what lives in the ocean, especially the larger creatures. Krill are tiny crustaceans and so it takes millions and millions of them to make some oil.
374933 tn?1291081784 I use Nordic Naturals or Trader Joe's brands and have no problems with them. they are molecularly distilled to remove any heavy metals. If the complex means omega 3-6-9. stay away. Our diets our usually heavy on the omega 6's and low on the omega-3's. Taking Omega 3 is enough to set the balance straight. Omega 3's are a great supplement and can help inflammation, cholesterol, heart disease and in high enough doses- mood.
198942 tn?1236316304 We all need the essential fatty acids to stay healthy, and oils that are high in Omega 3 oils, we get enough Omega 6 oils in our diets through eggs and such. The omega 3 is best obtained from fish, and I take a fish oil supplement for my heart and general brain health, it is in liquid form and not too bad once you get used to it. Flax seed oil is another good oil, it sort of has a "nutty" taste.
603543 tn?1255294450 My psychopharmocologist almost started me on it a while back but I ended up trying something else. However, he said its safer than fish oil, not because the fish oil itself is unsafe but being derived from actual fish it has some impurities such as mercury. He reccomended I start this rather than fish oil and its an actual prescription medication. He said he had dealt with mood disorders specialists who had good successes with it. People should find out about that.
1756970 tn?1314376733 t think you can ever have to much. I am on 6 grams of fish oil but with only has 2grams of EPA in the 6 grams of fish oil i take. Its important to make sure your fish oil does not have mercury in it other wise you can get heavy metal poisoning. Hope this makes sense: if not please feel free to ask me .
Avatar f tn After talking to this lady about being pregnant, she advised me to take fish oil and that it had great benefits for the baby and I. It helps the development of the babies brain. Has anyone else heard that too?
Avatar m tn Is it ok to take Omega 3 Fish Oil with an SSRI medication? I have read some places that the Fish Oil can help the effectiveness of the medication as well as help in other areas such as cardiovascular, cancer prevention, etc. Has anybody tried this? Does it work or is it all just here say? I have also read where it increased some peoples anxiety. Just wondering...
Avatar f tn I for one experience an increase in my PVC and PAC episodes after I take omega 3. Ever since I only obtain omega 3 from the fish i eat on a bi-weekly basis - i don't take the capsules anymore.
Avatar f tn Hey ladies have any of you gotten a Dr's advice on best source of omega 3 for baby's brain development? I was told that ground flaxseed is best but other literature says that fish oil is better as it has the DHA property. Any advice???
Avatar f tn I give my 20 pound Westie one capsule of "fish oil" each morning. I use scissors and hold the capsule over his kibble - cut tip off and squeeze He seems to like the smell/taste of the oil on his kibble which is also fish based. This capsule is the same that I take, and the dose recommendation for a human (or any weight) is 3 per day. I can't say I see any improvement in his several problems conditions, but I figure it "can't hurt"...
