Avatar f tn Does anyone know if I can just take an omega-3 supplement, or should I eat all the foods this app is telling to to get it. I'm not much of a fish eater.
1134609 tn?1269272200 I also take alot of good omega 3, which also has made a huge difference. Between, vitamin D, omega 3, and the Paleo Diet, I am able to handle bipolor disorder without medication. My doctor, psychiatrist, and psychologist are all amazed at the change. I hope you find this helpful.
518994 tn?1212242047 I read where Omega 3 was good for your dog. Is it a different Omega 3 or is it the same that humans take?
1053987 tn?1279304510 I take Omega-3 supplements and Vitamin D. For Omega-3, you need to make sure that what you're taking has a high concentration of EPA fats, as these are the ones that will actually help with mood stabilization. Look for capsules that come from fish oil, not flax seed, because flax contains a different type of Omega-3 (ALA). I use a brand called OmegaBrite because my doctor recommended it, actually. Apparently it's one of the best out there to help treat bipolar disorder and depression.
1253197 tn?1331209110 by George Jelinek and he had some interesting info and particularly advocated vitamin D, Omega 3 Fish Oils and a vegetarian fat free diet. I was interested to read about Omega 6 Fish Oils which he indicated are not good for anyone with MS so I believe that means evening primrose oil is not a good supplement for us to take. Anyhow I hope this post will attract some interesting helpful responses. Thanking you in advance and wishing everyone a very Happy New Year.
Avatar f tn My Dr told me at my second prenatal visit that my vitamin D count was low and that I needed to take 1000 mg everyday along with my prenatal. In my first pregnancy I didn't have this so I eventually stopped taking my prenatal vitamins but with this pregnancy I was starting to slack with the prenatal again until my Dr told me to take my prenatal along with Vitamin D. I've been diligent with taking my vitamins since. Has anyone else been Vitamin D deficient and had to take a supplement?
Avatar n tn html if you use it as a painkiller because of inflammation look for a real supplement of fish oil omega 3 (most contains such low amounts to be useless) that contains 4,5g minimum of fish oil (about epa 1-2g and dha 1-2g).
Avatar f tn One study found that fertile men tended to have higher blood levels of omega-3 fatty acids, while infertile men had higher levels of omega-6 fatty acids. And with diets heavy in grain fed animals most of us get less of the omega-3s and far more of the undesirable omega-6 fatty acids. Switch to fresh all-natural grass-fed meats. Omega-3 fatty acids aren't the only answers.
Avatar f tn Essential-fatty-acid is needed for skin health a balance of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. The best single oil for this is flaxseed oil. There are many balanced blends of omega-3/omega-6. How much to use can vary from 1 to 2 tablespoons and sometimes 3 tablespoons daily. Start with 2 tablespoons daily and look for changes over six to eight weeks. After that time, if your skin is less or no longer dry, the amount can be adjusted.

Calcium is really good for anyone to take. If you have a history of taking oral steroids, it is even more important that you take it. As far the supplement containint lead, it shouldn't, but that would depend on the quality controls where you live. I hope that helps you.
Avatar f tn It may be a good idea to try taking a combination of Omega 3 and Cod Liver Oil capsules, along with a high strength vitamin C tablet. Omega 3 has been proven to both increase brain function and help depression and help joint pain. Cod liver oil will help with this as well and the Vitamin C will destroy all the Free Radicals in your blood stream which would kill off the Omega 3 and Cod liver oils and stop them working.

Avatar m tn The strange thing is here now! While taking the vitamin D of 60,000 IU per week, I checked up my vitamin D level and it gave me a shocking result. This test result said that my vitamin D level was ">160 ng/mL". I informed this strange matter to my doctor but he told me that it was cool. I cannot understand how more than 160 ng/mL is good and cool! However, i continued taking the supplements as doctor said. One month has gone more after that shocking test result.

Avatar f tn I take a stress B vitamin, Vit. D, Vit. A (betacarotene type only), Vit. E, omega 3-6-9, and calcium. I have taken these for years and both my MD and the specialty pharmacist said they were okay for me. However, I do not have cirrhosis or any other health issues that would make taking the vitamins a contraindication. I agree with the above, clear all meds (prescription and over the counter), supplements, vitaminsm etc. with your MD.
Avatar n tn For example, a lemon pr an orange taken in juice or sprinkled over a salad will take care of the daily vitamin C requirement, milk, yoghurt, or cheese will take care of the calcium, vitamin A, and D, and a serving of fish, mackerel, tuna, or sardines, would serve the daily requirements for vitamin D, calcium, and some omega-3 fatty acids.

Avatar m tn Quite a complex topic this but at the same time an interesting one. Omega 3 isn't just one substance, Omega three are fatty acids just like Omega 6 fatty acids found in oils and meat etc. Omega 3 are EPA, DHA, and ALA . Some experts have said that the balance between Omega 6 fatty acids and Omega 3 is key, but just as many say this is nonsense. Omega 3 do have benefits, mainly reducing inflammation in the body, such as in the arteries or joints.
