omega-3

Avatar f tn I'm sorry that you had to go through it so tough, and it's good to hear you're feeling better using the Zyprexa. My antidepressant worked the same way, but I found that if I drank 2-3 liters of water spread out over the day with a slice of lemon in it, it would help me keep my body cleansed. Maybe it is a horrible advice, but that is the only one I know that helps you keep your body cleaner and help the water circulate better.
Avatar f tn m also taking a daily multivitamin, an omega-3 capsule, a vitamin E capsule, and occasionally Aleve or some NSAID to help with my Plantar Fasciitis. My knees have been hurting due to weight gain (went from 230-257 before I recently decided enough was enough) so that's why I started the Omega-3's. Am I ok to continue taking these?
Avatar f tn I have been on lexapro for 3 months and while my depression is better I am gaining a massive amount of weight 20 pounds in 3 months. What can I do to stop this? Is there another medication that could help counteract this side effect? My current doctor is very over weight so he doesn't understand how badly this effects me, so much so I have considered stopping the meds but trust me I have 6 kids and I NEED TO BE ON THEM! Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn How can I have a healthy diet and gain weight? I've tried to gain weight eating more than usual but haven't been able to, what food can I eat? Or is there a diet I could follow?
Avatar n tn Due to the fact you are extremely underweight and you need to gain weight slowly, recommend a Heart Healthy diet which means a moderate fat diet to increase ‘good’ fats to benefit your body. Moderate fat diet means = use polyunsaturated (omega 3, corn oil, nuts, etc) fats and monounsaturated (olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil, etc) fats, no saturated fats (high fat snack foods, butter, fat spreads) and no trans fats.
Avatar f tn A good way to start the day would be oat (I add vanilla and cinnamon for some flavour) add a teaspoon of ground flax seed or a teaspoon of chia seeds to your oats, both will provide you with omega 3. A little bit of knowledge can go a long way and all this info is readily available and I found it all very useful when switching to a vegan diet. It would be a shame for someone so young to suffer permanent damage from being underweight.
Avatar f tn 11 weight 58 kg i am too skinny pls doctor help me to gain weight suggest me any medicine or tonic to gain weight or to improve my appetite pls
Avatar f tn I recently started taking phentermine for weight loss but i read that i can gain the weight back because my body will try to gain its normal weight back. My question is will my body feel safe at 140 pounds or will it try to recover the 180 pounds i had weighed? Also i would like to know if there is any chance of me gaining weight while taking phentermine? I follow a low carb diet but i have not seen fast results.
Avatar m tn Some people have a natural high metabolism which tends to cause them not to gain weight. Since you are underweight, you need to gain weight slowly, try to eat a Heart Healthy diet that will give you the nutrients, vitamins, and minerals your body needs, and help with possibly preventing future disease states. Suggest eating about 2000-2400 calories per day broken down to three meals a day, with snacks between meals.
558632 tn?1303471125 I used to take 100mcg but now I play with a dosage in cold days or when I know that I will be in AC room too long I take 125, I started to take high quality omega 3 and it helped me a lot, mooved to 1000 calorie diet! Started to take as well coQ10 from nurtycology and I am doing 45 min light running every other day. People see me and tell me that I am no longer swollen!!! So I hope it will be helpful to you.
Avatar f tn SSRIs are notorious for weight gain, but Prozac has less of a weight gain potential (compared to say Paxil). Your weight gain may be natural - over the course of 20 years. Or it may be the result of the Prozac. But 2-3 pounds per year to gain from an SSRI is not very much. I was on Lexapro for 2-3 years and gained nearly 40 pounds in that time.
Avatar m tn Same with omega-3 oils, as anti-depressants often cause weight gain and increased cholesterol, which is aided by omega 3 oils, and they also aid brain function, particularly fish oil (DHA). Fish oil is also said to help with the brain zaps some people get when they stop ssris, so it's useful to have in your system.
Avatar f tn The stretch marks sounds like it may be due to the weight gain. Suggest you go to a MD, get blood work and tested to find out what is happening to you and then get treated.
Avatar m tn Suggest eating 3 meals a day constituency with drinking high nutrient drinks - Ensure, Boost or make milkshakes (milk, fruit, and ice cream blended) or yogurt smoothies (yogurt, fruit, and ice cream blended) 3 times a day to help you gain weight slowly. You have to constantly eat and drink the shakes daily to gain weight if you have a high metabolism. Hoped that helped you.
Avatar m tn What can i do please? I want to gain a little bit of weight and body fat. Please help me out.It is a matter of urgency to me as it is affecting my work too. Please help.
Avatar m tn your son needs to increase his calorie consumption to gain weight, those calories should come from foods that are good for you. Healthy fats include omega-3 essential fatty acids sources like tuna, salmon, flax, and walnuts. Good sources of protein include lean meats, fish, poultry, nuts, seeds and legumes. Healthy carbohydrate sources include fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone. I was wondering if anyone here knows a special diet to help the maddening effects of perimenopause. I'm trying to avoid hormone replacement therapy and I have every symptom listed...My body was thrown into it after I finished chemotherapy for my liver...All of the things the chemo affected are now back to normal except this, and the p-meno is getting worse!
Avatar f tn The slower you lose weight, the less likely you will gain it back. Try a Heart Healthy diet to lose weight which is a moderate fat diet and a moderate fat diet means = using polyunsaturated (omega 3, corn oil, nuts, etc) fats and monounsaturated (olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil, etc) fats, no saturated fats (high fat snack foods, butter, fat spreads) and no trans fats.
Avatar m tn You are correct when you stated that you are underweight for your height. Being underweight, you have to gain weight slowly. Suggest you eat 3 meals a day and try to eat a Heart Healthy diet which will give you the nutrients, vitamins and minerals your body needs, gain weight slowly, and help with possibly preventing future disease states.
Avatar f tn Try nutrient dense drinks 2-3 a day, either purchase them, such as Ensure or Boost, or make your own milkshakes - milk, ice cream, and frozen fruit blended or yogurt smoothies - yogurt, milk, and frozen fruit blended for additional calories, protein and nutrients to help increase your weight. If your weight does not slowly increase from above, suggest going to your doctor to get your thyroid checked. Hoped that helped you.
Avatar m tn The "American Journal of Clinical Nutrition" suggests that omega-3 fatty acids can and fish oil can also help you gain weight, as such supplements are calorie-dense due to the fat content and also promote increased muscle protein synthesis, which promotes muscle building. After exercise, consume a high-calorie, high-carbohydrate recovery supplement.
Avatar f tn The best way is to follow a low carb diet. Right now, even though you are only eating fruits and rice and chapati, your diet is mainly sugars and carbs. I know how important rice is for an Asian diet. But honestly... to control weight gain you have to reduce it to very little or none at all. It's only 9 months. Try to reduce your rice/chapati to once a weeks at the most. In order to control my own weight, I ate cooked vegetables, lean meats, and fish.
Avatar f tn My husband and I just started going to the gym again after years and years of not exercising and not eating healthy. His main goal is to gain muscle(but not too much) and gain weight(because he is normally very thin). My main goal is to loose alot of weight(50-65lbs) and gain muscle. He wants to start using whey and other types of supplements, but we dont know where to start or what to buy. I figure that we might both need different things, since I want to loose weight and he wants to gain.
Avatar m tn Your age is not stated so I cannot give you a calorie amount to consume daily. Being underweight, you have to gain weight slowly. Suggest you eat 3 meals a day and try to eat a Heart Healthy diet which will give you the nutrients, vitamins and minerals your body needs, gain weight slowly, and help with possibly preventing future disease states.
1655526 tn?1330655629 ve read in this forum that others have also had adverse reactions to taking this supplement. So I wanted to put this poll out to see how omega 3 affects you. The first time I suspected krill oil, which is supposed to be the best omega 3, I used the process of elimination. Still not believing it I did it a second and third time. Now I don't dare take it even after my ablation for SVT because I don't want the other arrythmias.
