Common Questions and Answers about Omega 3 sources source naturals

omega-3

518994 tn?1212242047 There are various vitamin-mineral supplements available that contain this or you could just add a little (~1/2 teaspoon) extra virgin olive oil to your dogs meals. Olive oil is a great source of Omega-3 Fatty acids. The omega-3's are the same for people and pets. If you give too much the result would be a bit of gas and/or loose stool.
Avatar m tn t know if the connection is there, but keep in mind until someone got the horrible idea of killing krill, on which the most endangered ocean species depend, so we can have another source of omega 3 oils, people have never consumed them. So who knows what sensitivities might be out there? Fish oil is pretty much as good, and maybe even better for DHA, so you should be fine using fish oil if you feel the krill oil is affecting you adversely.
Avatar m tn the advice about Omega-3, it is one of the supplements that has wide endorsement. One of the reasons it is helpful is that it contributes to plasticity in the neurons (cells of the brain) and this enhances the movement of electrical activity in the brain. Now there is no reason to think that Omega-3 will help with the behavior you are describing, but as a supplement that contributes to healthy brain functioning it can be useful.
Avatar n tn P.S. I take Source Naturals Arctic Pure Krill Oil!
Avatar m tn t purify it, meaning you get more than just the omega 3 oils, but that means you get less of the omega 3 oils and have to take more of them, and they are expensive. Cod liver oil shouldn't be taken regularly -- it can have a laxative effect, and the liver is a detoxification organ, meaning toxins accumulate there. It can be good for skin problems and other things, but for basic omega 3 you don't want liver oil.
Avatar m tn I have been taking fish oil 1200 mg /360 mg omega 3 three times a day is that to much to take in at once for your heart .
Avatar f tn you know, I haven't been taking the Omega 3 since I got pregnant - they make me nauseous. I just take my prenatals daily. I try to eat healthy(doesn't always happen) but i do try. I didnt take any Omega 3 with my other kids and their fine, so oh well.
907968 tn?1292622204 P.S.
374933 tn?1291081784 I use Nordic Naturals or Trader Joe's brands and have no problems with them. they are molecularly distilled to remove any heavy metals. If the complex means omega 3-6-9. stay away. Our diets our usually heavy on the omega 6's and low on the omega-3's. Taking Omega 3 is enough to set the balance straight. Omega 3's are a great supplement and can help inflammation, cholesterol, heart disease and in high enough doses- mood.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if Omega-3 helps heart arrythmias? It worked for me, but not for my 30 yr old daughter who suffers from PVCs. They can make life hellish but for the most part are benign - but definitely a quality of life issue. I would say avoid all cardiac stimulants like caffeine, nicotine, and believe it or not - anger and sentimental thoughts can cause arrythmias. You can deliver bad hormones into your own body that stimulate your heart by having scary, or sentimental thoughts.
Avatar f tn No, it's not the Omega 6 that's in overabundance, it's GLA from evening primrose oil. However, you'll probably get better results for HDL by taking the Omega 3 product (I'm assuming you bought Nordic Naturals, an excellent brand). The one you've got is great for overall essential fatty acids, especially for women with hormone problems, but for cholesterol the Omega 3 oils are the best. These are found in fish oil, hemp oil, and flax oil primarily.
1355431 tn?1369975306 Source Naturals also has been approved by Consumer Labs I use the Source Naturals NKO
Avatar f tn Hi to eevryone! Your cardiologist may not know it, but flax oil hardly converts to omega-3's; only 2% at best of the omega-3 linolenic acid component is converted to the useful omega-3 fats DHA and EPA, and that is IF there are no omega-6 fats competing for uptake. Other than that, the linolenic acid in flax oil has no known use in the body, and flax oil obviously has shortcomings by containing a relatively high amount of inflammatory omega-6 linoleic acid.
523927 tn?1257018704 I'm pretty sure I put a post on this, but it appears to be gone. I recommended against the Source Naturals NutraDrops because they contain a lot of preservatives, such as methylparaben, which aren't very good for you. This is common with Source Naturals. It's also liquid, which means it will oxidize quickly when you open the bottle. Better to take gel caps. Q-Gel is a good patented form. Jarrow sells them.
Avatar n tn Parents of ADHD children and ADHD adults who wish to utilize omega-3 fatty acids as a method of modifying their behavior should use both flax and seafood sources of omega-3 fatty acids. Flax provides alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), the master omega-3 fatty acid from which other omega-3 fatty acids are synthesized. Seafood provides DHA directly which appears to be a vital omega-3 fatty acid for modifying behavior of ADHD children and adults. The rate of conversion of ALA to DHA is quite low.
Avatar m tn Has anyone else with orange tongue been using DMAE cream or syrum on their face? I am wondering if there is a link to that or some other product that I am using, Perhaps it might be helpful if we compare notes. I've been appyling source naturals skin eternal syrum, DMAE syrum, and DMAE cream. Could that be the cause?
Avatar f tn Cod liver oil isn't the best fish oil for inflammation or for omega 3 oils. It comes in gel caps, which you don't taste at all. Nordic Naturals is a very good brand for omega 3 rich fish oil.
Avatar f tn My father has two small blood clots in his leg below the knee. He can not take Coumadin well and had reactions after several weeks twenty years ago, and now we have been trying alternative therapies with an alternative doctor who is also an MD. We have choses Nattokinase to reduce fribrin which can help dissolve the clots according to European and Asian research, and high Omega 3's which help thin the blood.
Avatar f tn Flaxseeds are a good source of fiber and omega 3 fatty acids that help with brain development. Chia seeds are a good source of fiber and contain calcium and iron. Pregnant women should consume 1.1 grams per kilogram of body weight of protein per day. The shakes are not to be used as a meal replacement!!!
Avatar m tn An interesting question would be, does the source of omega 3 matter, assuming this study is true (and the article cited by Gymdandee suggests it isn't a good study for this). Some have argued that too much flax might be a bad idea.
Avatar f tn Hey ladies have any of you gotten a Dr's advice on best source of omega 3 for baby's brain development? I was told that ground flaxseed is best but other literature says that fish oil is better as it has the DHA property. Any advice???
1655526 tn?1330655629 I know that omega 3 is really supposed to be good for the heart, but I get palps after I take them for 3 days, especially krill oil. I've read in this forum that others have also had adverse reactions to taking this supplement. So I wanted to put this poll out to see how omega 3 affects you. The first time I suspected krill oil, which is supposed to be the best omega 3, I used the process of elimination. Still not believing it I did it a second and third time.
Avatar f tn You should be taking omega 3 in any case. Statins, by lowering cholesterol, also interfere with the absorption of fat soluble nutrients, which of course includes omega 3. The most important for the heart is EFA, which is found in largest amounts in fish oil, but flax and hemp oil are also very high in omega 3 oils. But omega 3 oils don't do the same thing as statins. Statins lower LDL cholesterol, the bad kind, whereas omega 3 oils provide the good kind of cholesterol, HDL.
Avatar m tn I never used doctors best I like Source Naturals for some supplements and use other brands for different supplements. I also subscribe to consumerlab they check and send test results on different products and state the ones that pass and fail. carvedilol was that for high blood pressure?
Avatar f tn Nordic Naturals is a good brand of Omega -3 Fatty acids. A lot sold in supermarkets, drugs stores, are rancid, actually doing more harm than good. They ahve a website, they also have research on their site as well.
