1655526 tn?1330655629 Coincidently, around 12 years ago when my arrythmia took a turn for the worse, I was on a health kick, had decided to clean up my health and diet, and started taking fish oil with Omega 3-6-9 and borage oil because I had heard it was heart healthy and would lower my cholesterol. Never made the connection between the supplements and the worsening arrythmia. I was on several other self-prescribed vitamin and mineral supplements as well.
518994 tn?1212242047 There are various vitamin-mineral supplements available that contain this or you could just add a little (~1/2 teaspoon) extra virgin olive oil to your dogs meals. Olive oil is a great source of Omega-3 Fatty acids. The omega-3's are the same for people and pets. If you give too much the result would be a bit of gas and/or loose stool.
Avatar f tn The omega-3 fatty acids should be in your prenatal.
Avatar n tn If it were me, I would probably avoid the Salmon oil and use a different kind of fish oil. Carlson had a great one and I can tolerate it well, I have all kinds of allergies, but, this is good for me to take.
374933 tn?1291081784 I use Nordic Naturals or Trader Joe's brands and have no problems with them. they are molecularly distilled to remove any heavy metals. If the complex means omega 3-6-9. stay away. Our diets our usually heavy on the omega 6's and low on the omega-3's. Taking Omega 3 is enough to set the balance straight. Omega 3's are a great supplement and can help inflammation, cholesterol, heart disease and in high enough doses- mood.
603543 tn?1255294450 My psychopharmocologist almost started me on it a while back but I ended up trying something else. However, he said its safer than fish oil, not because the fish oil itself is unsafe but being derived from actual fish it has some impurities such as mercury. He reccomended I start this rather than fish oil and its an actual prescription medication. He said he had dealt with mood disorders specialists who had good successes with it. People should find out about that.
Avatar f tn After talking to this lady about being pregnant, she advised me to take fish oil and that it had great benefits for the baby and I. It helps the development of the babies brain. Has anyone else heard that too?
Avatar m tn Is it ok to take Omega 3 Fish Oil with an SSRI medication? I have read some places that the Fish Oil can help the effectiveness of the medication as well as help in other areas such as cardiovascular, cancer prevention, etc. Has anybody tried this? Does it work or is it all just here say? I have also read where it increased some peoples anxiety. Just wondering...
Avatar f tn I for one experience an increase in my PVC and PAC episodes after I take omega 3. Ever since I only obtain omega 3 from the fish i eat on a bi-weekly basis - i don't take the capsules anymore.
Avatar f tn Hey ladies have any of you gotten a Dr's advice on best source of omega 3 for baby's brain development? I was told that ground flaxseed is best but other literature says that fish oil is better as it has the DHA property. Any advice???
Avatar f tn I give my 20 pound Westie one capsule of "fish oil" each morning. I use scissors and hold the capsule over his kibble - cut tip off and squeeze He seems to like the smell/taste of the oil on his kibble which is also fish based. This capsule is the same that I take, and the dose recommendation for a human (or any weight) is 3 per day. I can't say I see any improvement in his several problems conditions, but I figure it "can't hurt"...
Avatar n tn It is working very well, but his dose (after gradual increase to a point of benefit) is more than recommended. Can he overdose on 3 times the normal dose of purified omega 3 fish oil..the brand he takes is Health from the Sea PFO pure fish oil liquid. He takes twice the dose of the flax seed oil (same brand name).
Avatar m tn Oh! I forgot, you would not burp the fish oil if you take the pill each time you eat something or after every meal, I have never had a problem with it.
Avatar f tn What brand of Omega 3's are you using? I have been taking just the Kroger brand Omega 3's with fish oil concentrate. Should I maybe look at the health food store for some that are especially for pregnancy? Thanks!
Avatar m tn s Hospital found that administering over-the-counter fish oil supplements to boost omega-3 levels helped premature baby girls score better on cognitive tests at 18 months of age. This benefit was not seen in premature boys, but the researchers believe that's because boys and girls have differing rates of development. Study leader Maria Makrides had 272 nursing mothers of premature children take six omega-3 supplement pills a day.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm new here, but have read some posts from the past and have a question for all of those who noticed an increase in palpitations when they used fish oil. I was wondering if you noticed if fish oil in even small amounts caused an increase. I have been having a lot of trouble with palpitations lately and I just noticed that my margarine (a high omega 3 margarine) has fish oil in it. I'm wondering if that could be causing a problem for me.
Avatar m tn 1%) in participants who consumedat least 250mg per day of omega-3 oil compared to participants who consumed less than 250 mg per day of omega-3 oil (P<0.0001) (4). Sudden cardiac death was defined as death within 5 minutes to 1 hour of symptom onset. There was no significant difference in the risk of a non-fatal myocardial infarction (heart attack) between participants who consumed equal to or greater than 250 mg per day of omega-3 oils and those who consumed less than 250 mg per day.
Avatar f tn Well yeah, I'm getting really tired of posting this on the forum. I HAVE A TON OF MEDICATION ALLERGIES! So I have to do a lot of alternative things so I don't breakout in hives, hallucinate, puke 24/7, develop a wrist rash, or any other problems. I have taken birth control before and it has done a number on my immune system. I'm very small and should probably live life in a bubble. Knowing that she told me to start taking fish oil with Omega 3 fatty acids.
Avatar f tn My cholesterol and triglycerides have been high. I was thinking of taking omega 3 fish oil…maybe start now ? or maybe wait till after 6 months post tx? Perhaps the fish oil can help with my cholesterol and triglycerides. Is fish oil ok for the liver? Anybody have any thoughts on this? Thanks.
Avatar n tn Here is another one that I found... http://dan.xtend-life.com/product/Omega_3_~_DHA_Esters.aspx?
1645208 tn?1301072177 Yes, you can give fish oil caps. Salmon oil caps at Costco. Omega 3 caps daily. Canned sardines packed in oil. Actually, quite a few people are starting to add coconut oil with good results. This is a good link to read up on http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:U4NQT9evYhEJ:www.natural-dog-health-remedies.com/coconut-oil-benefits.html+coconut+oil+for+dogs&cd=12&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&client=firefox-a&source=www.google.
612551 tn?1450022175 I started taking 2 grams of Omega 3 Fish Oil capsules a day about 10 days ago. I had my ProTime/INR test run last Friday. INR came in 1.7, my desired range is the usual 2 to 3. I have a log history of testing near 2.5 +/- 0.3 so I wonder if the Omega 3 might tend to make the blood clotting go up, like vitamin K, green salads....
Avatar n tn Fish should be eaten 2-3 times a week. Omega 3 are found in whole nuts, soy nuts / oil, and canola oil. Recommend 1-2 teaspoons of nuts daily. Hope this answered your question.
Avatar f tn The first time I tried fish oil it gave me terrible fish burps. Ick! Last year I tried Nature Made which has the USP seal. No fish burps but no help with the arrhythmias either. Unfortunately (I say this because I don't like taking pills anyway), my cardio put me on Diltiazem a month ago because of some chest pain and upcoming surgery (I sailed through that). It's been most helpful but I still grimace and rebel each morning when I take it. LOL Dr. Oz is a character, isn't he?
Avatar f tn Cod liver oil isn't the best fish oil for inflammation or for omega 3 oils. It comes in gel caps, which you don't taste at all. Nordic Naturals is a very good brand for omega 3 rich fish oil.
Avatar f tn I visited my local GNC store to purchase some Omega 3 Fish Oil supplement. I bought the triple strength, and then asked while paying for it what was the normal dosage? He and another employee said "1,000mg per day." When I arrived home their "triple strength" is only 900 mg??? I have bought others that have always been 1,000mg and that is what I have been taking. Can someone please help me with what is the proper dosage? Thanks.
Avatar n tn Fish oil is oil derived from the tissues of oily fish. Fish do not actually produce omega-3 fatty acids, but instead accumulate them by consuming either microalgae or prey fish that have accumulated omega-3 fatty acids. Problems of quality have been identified in periodic tests by independent researchers of marketed supplements containing fish oil and other marine oils. These problems include contamination, inaccurate listing of EPA and DHA levels, spoilage and formulation issues.
