Omega 3 and 6 fish oils, for example, are prescribed universally to people with Cardiac Artery Disease, and fish oil is certainly a Poly oil. I haven't a clue about cashews, I'm a Hazelnut (Filbert) fan myself. They are delicious in salads.

I do remember reading somewhere that eating alot of nuts in your pregnancy can cause nut allergies but i dont know if this is true... it was on the internet.. I was never advised by my doctor to avoid them.. If its true though, my poor baby is screwed becasue I had peanut butter and almonds all through my pregnancy...
Tbd There are lots of good food choices that help maintain appropriate cholesterol levels or even to lower them. The top food on most any list is simply oats or oatmeal. Moderate fat diet means = use polyunsaturated (omega 3, corn oil, nuts, etc) fats and monounsaturated (olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil, etc) fats, no saturated fats (high fat snack foods, butter, fat spreads) and no trans fats.

Ideally I would like to get it from food rather than have to purchase an expensive supplement that I don't feel 100% comfortable with.

Doctors do not give anything that boosts the strength and immunity of a patient.They are dead against nutrition.

Avatar f tn You should be taking omega 3 in any case. Statins, by lowering cholesterol, also interfere with the absorption of fat soluble nutrients, which of course includes omega 3. The most important for the heart is EFA, which is found in largest amounts in fish oil, but flax and hemp oil are also very high in omega 3 oils. But omega 3 oils don't do the same thing as statins. Statins lower LDL cholesterol, the bad kind, whereas omega 3 oils provide the good kind of cholesterol, HDL.

Up until a month ago that was the case, however now peanuts, walnuts & almonds of any variety cause stomach aching. I am a big seafood, salad, whole grain, and nut NUT! Omega 3 fish oil and flaxseed oil can both sometimes increase bleeding in patients taking blood thinners like coumadin (warfarin), apirin, and plavix. In diabetics on glucose lowering drugs there is some evidence that suggest that flaxseed oil may increase fasting blood sugar levels.
