omega-3

1655526 tn?1330655629 I know that omega 3 is really supposed to be good for the heart, but I get palps after I take them for 3 days, especially krill oil. I've read in this forum that others have also had adverse reactions to taking this supplement. So I wanted to put this poll out to see how omega 3 affects you. The first time I suspected krill oil, which is supposed to be the best omega 3, I used the process of elimination. Still not believing it I did it a second and third time.
Avatar f tn An over-the-counter drug that others on the forum cant take without any danger can cause life-threatening internal bleeding, kidney failure or liver failure. That is why all changes must go through the transplant center. Not following transplant center protocols can result in removal from the transplant waiting list and poor outcomes. We are in a fight for our very lives. One bleed out, HE coma, infected ascites fluid (spontaneous bacterial peritonitis, SBP), can be it for us.
Avatar f tn Never heard that before. Stage 4 is cirrhosis of the liver. If you are stage 3 you have a chance to reverse your liver damage. Only in extreme cases is a liver transplant required. You would have to have advanced cirrhosis of the liver. People can live many years with cirrhosis of the liver....and do.
Avatar f tn Regarding the Omega 3 supplement ... dog supplements normally have a mix of omega 3 and omega 6 in the correct ratio. The problem with omega 6 is it is harder to absorb and causes some toxins, as the kidneys need to deal with it, but in the right ratio with omega 3, it should be fine. Just make sure you use a canine supplement, free of other additives, and NOT a human supplement.
Avatar f tn before I started treating my Dr, had me taking omega 3-6-9 and vit D omega 1000 three times a day and D once. Finished treatment in march and still take the omega and d, didnt want me to stop. See him again in september for 6 month eot. I do see a hepatologist at a transplant ctr.
Avatar f tn I wish I had an answer....sometimes they just don't "stick". My first IVF failed with 2 embies and my second worked with 3 embies (we are 8w pg with a singleton). I believe the second worked due to assisted hatching.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if I can just take an omega-3 supplement, or should I eat all the foods this app is telling to to get it. I'm not much of a fish eater.
Avatar f tn you know, I haven't been taking the Omega 3 since I got pregnant - they make me nauseous. I just take my prenatals daily. I try to eat healthy(doesn't always happen) but i do try. I didnt take any Omega 3 with my other kids and their fine, so oh well.
Avatar m tn I took an Omega-3 supplement for the first time before going to bed last night, and when I woke up one eye was very swollen and puffy. The only allergies I have had are seasonal. Could I be allergic to the Omega-3 supplement?
518994 tn?1212242047 I read where Omega 3 was good for your dog. Is it a different Omega 3 or is it the same that humans take?
Avatar f tn Doc changed her diet, prescribed meds, took blood and did some ultrasounds. Kidney and liver failure were the diagnosis.... Come October 2013, crusty patches started to form abover her eyes, around her mouth and genital area. Doc prescribed an antiseptic as well as a gel for her food which should help these smelly pus crusty bumps.... They decreased in size. Little bumps do form on her body, some which she scratches and bites, and causes them to bleed.
9214378 tn?1408881584 Omega 3/Omega 6. Most websites are universal saying that egg whites are a good protein source for dogs with CKF. I have been giving Darbie the whites of a hard boiled egg, chopped and drizzled with raw (local) honey. I stir in some warm water for extra hydration. Now, I am confused with the Omega 6 factor...Am I on the right path?
9644933 tn?1407768890 Also, although there is some truth in dogs needing a good balance of omega 3 and omega 6 acids (the first is provided by canola oil and the omega 6 by corn oil), omega-6 is something to be very wary of - it has been linked to some bad effects in dogs, so I would limit this, unless the mix of omega 3 and omega 6 is done very carefully .
Avatar m tn t purify it, meaning you get more than just the omega 3 oils, but that means you get less of the omega 3 oils and have to take more of them, and they are expensive. Cod liver oil shouldn't be taken regularly -- it can have a laxative effect, and the liver is a detoxification organ, meaning toxins accumulate there. It can be good for skin problems and other things, but for basic omega 3 you don't want liver oil.
Avatar n tn It is balance of minerals, vitamins, enzymes and essential fatty acids (includes omega 3 and omega 6) She is a child and would be drinking an ounce a day. It is a liquid so it would be absorbed (98%) into the body. It is ionic. It is made of aloe vera and sea vegetables. Nothing synthetic. I read that aloe can hurt kidneys if they are having problems with them. But, if you can give me any input on this that would be appreciated.
Avatar m tn Our 39 year old daughter is in the hospital with liver failure--cirrhosis, fatty liver, and sludge in her spleen. She was admitted on 6/10/13. For the first five days she was incoherent, then gradually she began to be able to communicate. She still, eight days later, isn't sure what year it is or which hospital she is in. She's been told her condition is grave, but we are not certain she understands. They are trying to bring her liver function up to 10% of normal operability.
Avatar f tn My husband is currently taking Omega 3 and liquid Zeolite to hopefully help his liver cancer. He is sceduled for a lobectomy on March 10. Does he need to stop taking these supplements in any significant time period before the surgery?
Avatar n tn She was taken to the emergency room yesterday morning and has been admitted into Intensive care. She has liver failure. She is yellow (yellow skin and eyes). She has swollen legs and stomach. The doctors are running blood tests, but they cannot tell me anything yet. I need to know what to expect. I am 20 years old and I don't know what to do. If anyone can tell me what to expect please tell me! my email is ***@****.
Avatar m tn I love chocolate, and still indulge from time to time...but I will have to be the killjoy here on one point only...the sugar content and the way this triggers too much insulin as well as too much fat storage in the liver need to be weighed. Yes chocolate is high in omega 3's...that's a good thing...but ONLY if they haven't taken out the cacao fat and substituted another kind.
Avatar f tn Cod liver oil isn't the best fish oil for inflammation or for omega 3 oils. It comes in gel caps, which you don't taste at all. Nordic Naturals is a very good brand for omega 3 rich fish oil.
