omega-3

518994 tn?1212242047 I read where Omega 3 was good for your dog. Is it a different Omega 3 or is it the same that humans take?
Avatar m tn I took an Omega-3 supplement for the first time before going to bed last night, and when I woke up one eye was very swollen and puffy. The only allergies I have had are seasonal. Could I be allergic to the Omega-3 supplement?
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if I can just take an omega-3 supplement, or should I eat all the foods this app is telling to to get it. I'm not much of a fish eater.
Avatar f tn you know, I haven't been taking the Omega 3 since I got pregnant - they make me nauseous. I just take my prenatals daily. I try to eat healthy(doesn't always happen) but i do try. I didnt take any Omega 3 with my other kids and their fine, so oh well.
1655526 tn?1330655629 ve read in this forum that others have also had adverse reactions to taking this supplement. So I wanted to put this poll out to see how omega 3 affects you. The first time I suspected krill oil, which is supposed to be the best omega 3, I used the process of elimination. Still not believing it I did it a second and third time. Now I don't dare take it even after my ablation for SVT because I don't want the other arrythmias.
Avatar n tn If you are allergic to fish, then a supplement could cause reactions. Some synthetic forms of Omega 3 can also cause reactions in the body because they aren't natural. Sometimes people who have sensitive systems can be affected by a synthetic supplement. Or it could just be a coincidence. An easy way to see if the supplement is affecting you would be to stop taking it for a week. If the problems linger, the cause is unrelated. If they go away, the supplement is the likely culprit.
Avatar n tn It is balance of minerals, vitamins, enzymes and essential fatty acids (includes omega 3 and omega 6) She is a child and would be drinking an ounce a day. It is a liquid so it would be absorbed (98%) into the body. It is ionic. It is made of aloe vera and sea vegetables. Nothing synthetic. I read that aloe can hurt kidneys if they are having problems with them. But, if you can give me any input on this that would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn What brand of Omega 3's are you using? I have been taking just the Kroger brand Omega 3's with fish oil concentrate. Should I maybe look at the health food store for some that are especially for pregnancy? Thanks!
Avatar m tn Study leader Maria Makrides had 272 nursing mothers of premature children take six omega-3 supplement pills a day. This was meant to replicate the amount of omega-3 that full-term babies usually receive in the womb during the third trimester of pregnancy. Eighteen months later, they found that female babies of moms taking the placebo scored slightly lower than the moms taking the omega-3s.
Avatar f tn I love my nature made liquid gels with dha and omega-3. Very easy to swallow and no nausea problems very important fir me as solid vitamins make me puke regardless if I've eaten. When I start breastfeeding I may switch to similac liquid gels these particular ones require two pills a day the vitamin abd a mineral supplement. Not sure though need to do more research on these brute I decide also will cost about 20$ more per 90 days.
198942 tn?1236316304 We all need the essential fatty acids to stay healthy, and oils that are high in Omega 3 oils, we get enough Omega 6 oils in our diets through eggs and such. The omega 3 is best obtained from fish, and I take a fish oil supplement for my heart and general brain health, it is in liquid form and not too bad once you get used to it. Flax seed oil is another good oil, it sort of has a "nutty" taste.

Avatar m tn Oh! I forgot, you would not burp the fish oil if you take the pill each time you eat something or after every meal, I have never had a problem with it.
Avatar m tn Recently I heard that taking omega 3 capsules( the transparent one) will increase the risk of prostate cancer. Is there any scientific studies conducted on the subject?
917167 tn?1330255938 Dennis Embry (CEO/Founder PAXIS institute in AZ) talked about taking an Omega 3 supplement especially as a mental health or substance abuse patient because it has shown to restore dopamine receptors in the brain. Has anyone else heard of this? Does anyone out there swear by them? I have been taking them for roughly two weeks, but of course I wouldn't be feeling better today.....bad bad bad. It's you all on here who are keeping me from cracking under the pain.
Avatar f tn I have been reading a lot online about mast cell tumors, how to treat them, etc. I have decided to change my dogs diet to the Canine Cancer Diet... low carb, high fat, high protein, homecooked. I have already added fish oil supplement (human grade) I squeeze it out of the liquid capsule and the same for Vitamin E. First... I have read conflicting information about the types of Omegas some say you need 3 & 6, while others say not to Omega 6 because it can cause cancer to grow.
Avatar f tn You can go to cheaper brands, however, suggest looking for supplements that have the same content as what you are buying now. If some of the supplement have less omega 6 that is ok. Research has found that omega 6 counteracts omega 3's so the more omega 3s in the supplement, the better. Hoped I helped you and not confused you.

1756970 tn?1314376733 i am doing the liquid form version.. also do you know how soon it usually takes for the brain or body to respond to the omega 3 supplement. thanks for the help..
Avatar n tn Here is another one that I found... http://dan.xtend-life.com/product/Omega_3_~_DHA_Esters.aspx?
Avatar m tn The thing that helped me a lot for dry skin is a high dose omega 3 supplement. Obviously talk to you doctor first to rule out the other medical causes but 750mg of DHA in a liquid supplement has made my skin (and allergies among other things) much better.
Avatar f tn Essential-fatty-acid is needed for skin health a balance of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. The best single oil for this is flaxseed oil. There are many balanced blends of omega-3/omega-6. How much to use can vary from 1 to 2 tablespoons and sometimes 3 tablespoons daily. Start with 2 tablespoons daily and look for changes over six to eight weeks. After that time, if your skin is less or no longer dry, the amount can be adjusted.
446896 tn?1237802742 I have a curiosity question...I am also taking Omega 3 fish oil, as well as a B vitamin supplement. Has anyone heard if these are OK with Prozac (fluoxetine)? I have looked for information, and havent found anything yet. Let me know if you know...
