317787 tn?1473358451 Hi there! I just found this group and was wondering if anyone had tried Omega 3 supplements. I am trying them now for stiffness in joints, body. I've also read it can help with brain fog or fuzzy thinking.
Avatar f tn Also maybe apply arnica or capsaicin cream to your sore joints. Also considering taking omega 3 supplements to help reduce inflammation and avoid inflammatory oils high in omega 6 (soy, sunflower, corn, cottonseed, safflower, vegetable oils).
Avatar f tn I have severe arthritis like pain in my joints, but have been tested for just about everything. I have depression, but have never had any joint pain from it this severe until now.....does anyone know if this is normal? Thank you.
Avatar m tn Quite a complex topic this but at the same time an interesting one. Omega 3 isn't just one substance, Omega three are fatty acids just like Omega 6 fatty acids found in oils and meat etc. Omega 3 are EPA, DHA, and ALA . Some experts have said that the balance between Omega 6 fatty acids and Omega 3 is key, but just as many say this is nonsense. Omega 3 do have benefits, mainly reducing inflammation in the body, such as in the arteries or joints.
Avatar m tn Increasing the diet with foods containing high levels of Omega-3 fatty acids. Foods containing Omega-3 fatty acids include fish products, grass-fed beef, and flaxseed either in the form of oil or ground seed. These are general solutions that work for most people, but keeping a food diary will help a person understand unique food allergies that may cause inflammation.
653169 tn?1303446369 Does anybody have any advice on nonnarcotic help for thee pain, swelling, and stiffness of joints in this weather especially?? I use hot packs and heating pad which seems to help, but I'm still uncomfortable. My ankles imparticulalarly have decided to swell up and despite elevating them won't go down even with my lasix.(water pill). Any ideals for decreasing swelling would be greatly appreciated.
1157646 tn?1343967128 Either heat or cold can help - you will need to try to see which is best for you. Ibuprofen may help and try upping your intake of Omega 3's (fish oil capsules, salmon, trout, Omega 3 eggs).
Avatar f tn In addition to being heart healthy, extra Omega-3 can be good for joints, nerves and brain health. When I use it regularly I have little to no problems with irritable bowel or constipation. Without it? Not so much.
Avatar m tn I have arthritis pain in many joints of my body, my feet especially. Is there anyone out there with the same issue, and is so, what have you taken to relieve the discomfort?
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if I can just take an omega-3 supplement, or should I eat all the foods this app is telling to to get it. I'm not much of a fish eater.
Avatar f tn you know, I haven't been taking the Omega 3 since I got pregnant - they make me nauseous. I just take my prenatals daily. I try to eat healthy(doesn't always happen) but i do try. I didnt take any Omega 3 with my other kids and their fine, so oh well.
Avatar m tn I took an Omega-3 supplement for the first time before going to bed last night, and when I woke up one eye was very swollen and puffy. The only allergies I have had are seasonal. Could I be allergic to the Omega-3 supplement?
1655526 tn?1330655629 I know that omega 3 is really supposed to be good for the heart, but I get palps after I take them for 3 days, especially krill oil. I've read in this forum that others have also had adverse reactions to taking this supplement. So I wanted to put this poll out to see how omega 3 affects you. The first time I suspected krill oil, which is supposed to be the best omega 3, I used the process of elimination. Still not believing it I did it a second and third time.
Avatar n tn Other medications such as Tramadol work with NSAIDS to help make them even more effective. Nutraceuticals such as glucosamine (which she is already taking) and Omega 3 Fatty acids also help adjunctively. Acupuncture either as a solo treatment or as another adjunct is also valuable for arthritis, as are Chinese Herbal Formula's for arthritis and pain.
Avatar n tn Eating the right foods literally feeds your joints and keeps them strong and flexible. Foods like fish and walnuts or almonds contain essential fatty acids that lubricate. Unless you eat fatty fish like salmon or sardines on most days, you're not getting enough omega-3 fats-or their anti-inflammatory benefits. You want to get two specific omega-3s in particular: EPA and DHA. The best source for both is fish oil. Aim for 1,000-3,000 mg total DHA and EPA.
1110049 tn?1409402144 I take glucosomine with chondrotin and MSM, and Omega 3. Is cod liver supplements better than omega 3? I have read about Krill oil. Has anybody tried that? Also a neighbour said Green Lipped Mussel helps her back pain. What do people here take to relieve their arthritis pain?

917167 tn?1330255938 Dennis Embry (CEO/Founder PAXIS institute in AZ) talked about taking an Omega 3 supplement especially as a mental health or substance abuse patient because it has shown to restore dopamine receptors in the brain. Has anyone else heard of this? Does anyone out there swear by them? I have been taking them for roughly two weeks, but of course I wouldn't be feeling better today.....bad bad bad. It's you all on here who are keeping me from cracking under the pain.
Avatar f tn I had the exact same issue, my doctor said it was air pockets in my joints, he has me take omega3 (fish oil) supplements & coQ10, it is working!! for months now..if you are like me & dont like the fish oil there are many alternatives just shop around online herbal store like Nature's Way, look for the highest content of omega 3 per serving..DO NOT get anything with omega6 or 9, those cause problems, omega 3 only!
Avatar f tn I have been increasing my NT from 2 grains (felt horrible) to now 5 grains. No hyper symptoms. No labs since have been back on NT. I was trying Synthroid w/out and then with T3 (which I hated, hypo he11). I go back for labs 3/31. Any suggestions as to why it is taking so many grains to feel better? I just bought selenium to take but trying to figure out when to take NT, supplements and eat is driving me nuts.
