526889 tn?1212540641 I would recommend a Heart Healthy diet which is a moderate fat diet. Moderate fat diet means = use polyunsaturated (omega 3, corn oil, nuts, etc) fats and monounsaturated (olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil, etc) fats, no saturated fats (high fat snack foods, butter, fat spreads) and no trans fats.
Avatar n tn I am taking vitamin B12 and consuming enough ALA Omega 3 in the form of flax, or so I believe. But I know it converts poorly. I just wonder if I am hurting myself by being vegetarian? Worse, am I hurting my partner? We consumed no heavily manufactured products. I make everything at home from raw materials. My partner has lost so much weight, despite eating like a kraken... and I have put so much weight on, despite eating little. My biggest concern is my early menopause, though.

4274823 tn?1388529098 Thanks for the list. I avoid soy and flax due to a health issue. I do eat pumpkin seeds and walnuts as well as plenty of vegetables and fruit. Interesting about papaya. Ideally I would like to get it from food rather than have to purchase an expensive supplement that I don't feel 100% comfortable with.
Avatar n tn It is recommended that all Trans fats and saturated fats are not consumed, but omega-3 fatty acids and monounsaturated fats can be eaten. Avatar f tn I'm not a vegetarian but I'm a clean eater and naturalist. (A cheater though as well :) ) I don't take any prenatal vitamins just because I don't feel its necessary (just my opinion) my doc is fine with it and my labs are too beautiful! (I do take folic acid) I would say just listen to your body, drink plenty of water obviously, and get rest! I don't eat alot of meat so I've been compensating with cheese, eggs, beans, etc for extra protein. I feel great great!

1276890 tn?1271027818 I became vegan about a month ago and I have come to realize that now that my stomach has not been using enzymes to break down meat, dairy products, and some fats, I might have lost these enzymes. I am afraid that I should incorporate some fish and some good fats in my diet because not eating any will take a toll on my body. But everyone has a different opinion on what fats are really good.

1063764 tn?1272821064 I've been a vegetarian for the last five years, almost. There were a few points where I was vegan for months at a time. Right now I do eat eggs and some dairy occasionally but no fish. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism about three years ago...but I have reason to believe that I had it long before. I remember how my body felt years ago...so I don't want to blame vegetarianism for my hypothyroidism. Getting to my point- I've had pretty bad memory loss for a few years now as well.
Avatar n tn he could be lacking in iron and omega-3s, which is an essential fatty acid for brain development, found in fish and avocados. If he's not taking a multivitamin, he is at high risk for vitamin and mineral deficiencies as well. Since she's so concerned about meats being contaminated, she may want to consider buying organic meats.

Avatar f tn She recommended fish since I would also lack omega vitamins without it. So I started eating fish, in moderation of course to avoid mercury. I'm wondering if you think it would be alright to stop again after she's born, if I plan to breastfeed? I think if I eat plenty of leafy green veggies it'll be alright, I just want a second opinion. Thanks!
