2199900 tn?1338759215 So I love Tilapia (fish) and Liver. I've been eating the fish since I've been pregnant, I'm 16&1 and now I'm scared I've screwed up. I only craved the liver once and when I saw I couldn't eat that I stopped immediately!
Avatar f tn and has a ton of chemicals in it. Also, farm raised salmon is far less rich in omega-3 fatty acids which aids in brain and neurological development in a fetus. That is kinda the point of eating salmon (to get omega-3 fatty acids)... so make sure it is WILD. If you look for those 2 things you will be fine. You really should only eat approximately 4-6 oz. of fish a week though. 4-6 oz. is only about the size of your palm... so it really isn't a whole lot.
Avatar f tn Yes normally omega 3 fish, but watch out for fish that contain mercury and u shouldnt eat it too often,i hardly eat fish but when i crave it i eat tilapia.
Avatar f tn Taking a supplement is fine. Plenty of foods besides fish have omegas. And omega 6 and 9 are also important.
1655526 tn?1330655629 On Omega-3 supplements, I notice a significant increase in PVCs as well as slight increase in general twitchiness or anxiety. Yeah, it's a sample size of one and I'm the only observer, but that's the way it seems to me. However, some scientists have observed problems in giving patients these supplements: http://www.examiner.
Avatar f tn Is it safe for me to eat tilapia fish not sure if it's little or mercury free?
657586 tn?1224587947 I eat cod or tilapia once a week and my doctor says it's fine.

Avatar f tn It is funny, I am originally from Spain and my mother-in-law sent me a pregnancy book from there. While here they basically tell you to avoid fish as much as you can, in the book from Spain recommend to eat more fish (avoiding the high mercury ones, of course...tuna, swordfish.....).
541150 tn?1306033843 Are you taking regular fish oil tablets or the Omega 3(with fish oil in it) tablets included with the prenatal vitamins? I use to take fish oil tablets before getting pregnant, but my doctor said I should stop due to the high amount of vitamin A in the straight fish oil tablets. She said I could take the Omega 3 vitamins included in my one-a-day vitamin, because they are specifically formulated for pregnant women.
Avatar f tn you know, I haven't been taking the Omega 3 since I got pregnant - they make me nauseous. I just take my prenatals daily. I try to eat healthy(doesn't always happen) but i do try. I didnt take any Omega 3 with my other kids and their fine, so oh well.
Avatar f tn I think fish high in mercury.... i dont eat seafood so im not sure. I would do research cause i know theres different types. And you can only have so much of some i think?
Avatar f tn My prenatal have everything But omega 3 when do I start taking it? I'm 18 weeks.
Avatar n tn I eat on a weekly basis cod, salmon, bass, tilapia. I was told hogh mercury fish were bad so i just looked up fish i can eat during pregnancy and came out with a list. I love fish and i usually eat it more then meat, but i try to control myself i little during pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Things with protein , iron , omega 3 , tilapia is very good for omega 3 and safe during pregnancy . Stay away from fish high in mercury like tuna . You can eat it but not alot and not often . I eat 5-6 small meals a day . Milk i very good and of course water . Avocado is good . Leafy veggies are the best kinds of veggies , and basically anything you really crave .
Avatar f tn My midwife said fish is ok as long as it is fresh cooked and not shell fish x
Avatar m tn Others argue that too much fatty fish might be a problem not because of the Omega 3 oils but the contaminants that have gotten into our fatty fish (you can avoid some of this by taking a reliable supplement, but unfortunately we have to rely on company reputation for this as nobody is doing much checking out there). And with flax, is there a difference between organically grown and that grown with carcinogenic chemical applications? Between farm raised fish and wild fish?
Avatar f tn Its usually big fish like shark and that type of fish that are very high in mercury.
603543 tn?1255294450 kelliebellie just keep in mind that it may not work. I'm not trying to be a spoiler, but I did the Omega 3 thing for 6 months at high dosages. The Omega 3 suppliment I was using was top grade from a health store. It cost twice as much as other formulas because of it higher quality. 6 full months of this Omega 3 experiment produced absolutly no improvement in my Severe depression. Perhaps my condition is more severe than your and that's why I failed to respond to it.
Avatar f tn Tilapia has gotten some bad press lately, but it all depends on where it is farmed - or where in this case Applebees bought there fish. See this link to snopes - http://www.snopes.com/food/warnings/tilapia.asp I guess you could call the manager at Applebees and see where the fish came from. But since you ate around the uncooked part, that should have been helpful. And I doubt that that part of the fish was uncooked, but rather undercooked.
Avatar f tn I had to stop while pregnant bc I was getting so nauseous I could barely handle my prenatals let alone adding in my fish oil and vit D. If they are making you sick maybe up your fish consumption. I never took fish oil with any of my three pregnancies but I eat wild salmon at least once a week and either tilapia or cod once a week. May times I eat salmon more than once but buying wild fish gets expensive so we dont as much as we would like.
Avatar f tn What brand of Omega 3's are you using? I have been taking just the Kroger brand Omega 3's with fish oil concentrate. Should I maybe look at the health food store for some that are especially for pregnancy? Thanks!
Avatar f tn Hey ladies have any of you gotten a Dr's advice on best source of omega 3 for baby's brain development? I was told that ground flaxseed is best but other literature says that fish oil is better as it has the DHA property. Any advice???
Avatar n tn I had lots of tilapia, shrimp, scallops, mussles, clams, you can google how much fish is safe. Ypu really should avoid only 4 types because they are really high in mercury. But its 4 fish most ppl don't eat anyway.
