Omega 3 in prenatal vitamins

Common Questions and Answers about Omega 3 in prenatal vitamins

omega-3

Avatar f tn Hi, Ladies. I got some info from my doctor recently and wanted to pass it along. As we know, Omega-3 is supposed to be really important for the baby. But my doctor is not convinced that prenatal vitamins really help (who knows what's really in them, right?) and believes in going to the source for the nutrition I need. During my last visit, she turned me on to flax seed, which you can get in the natural foods stores.
871965 tn?1241833146 re covered. Prescription and OTC prenatal vitamins are very comparable in vitamin/nutrient dosage, just be sure your folic acid is 1mg. I am on a prescription prenatal called PreNexa. It contains DHA and a stool softener. Most OTC prenatals do not contain these additives, you would have to purchase seperately. You can call an OB office to consult a prenatal nurse to see what prenatal vitamins they recommend, or ask your local pharmacist.
Avatar f tn DHA is a kind of Omega 3 fatty acid (which is usually DHA+EPA) Omega 3 s are considered really beneficial for our brain and general health..and considered really good for fertility.. they're found in fatty fish or you can take them as supplements..
Avatar f tn t know what brand you should use, but I use all natural prenatal vitamins and Omega 3 from natural health stores, I pay a little extra but they are worth it they don't have any chemicals or artificial additives that are unnecessary.
Avatar f tn Okay can someone tell me what is in the prenatal vitamins? I looked mine up and couldnt find the ingredients anywhere, I tosses out the papers that came with it too I am just curious Anyone ?!?!
Avatar f tn Can i take regular folic acid amd omega 3 vitamins while im pregnant? Should i wait until my doctor reccommends something? What should i do, im trying to make sure my baby gets everything it needs.
Avatar f tn Yes I take separate omega 3s because my prenatal doesn't have it and with my medical history I need more than what would be in a prenatal anyway.
Avatar f tn but after reading the label one bottle has dha, epa and omega 3 fatty acids, while the other bottle has all the other stuff like vitamins c, d e, folic acid, iron, copper etc. does this mean take both pills each day? have you seen this before? can you overdose?
Avatar f tn When pregnant, I took a prenatal, an Omega 3, and folic acid (extra from what was in the prenatal). Iron is also a good idea, if the prenatal doesn't have 100% of the daily recommended dose.
Avatar f tn I want to switch my prenatal vitamins and was wondering does it matter if they both have the same vitamins in them
Avatar f tn I have only heard that you should talk to your doctor about any extra vitamins you take besides your prenatal. I have wanted to take garlic gel pills and omega 3, etc but I haven't because I don't want to worry that my baby is getting too much of something. They sat your body will filter out extra stuff, but its better to be safe rather than sorry.
Avatar f tn I also take an extra spoon full of omega 3 oil to help the brain and eyes of the baby.
Avatar f tn My doc recommends a prenatal vitamin for everyone and omega 3 if u have less than 3 servings of fish each week.
8464451 tn?1409883976 What brand of gummies are they?
Avatar f tn Is it normal for the prenatal vitamins to make your stomach feel like butterflies?
Avatar f tn Just wondering what's available nowadays when it comes to prenatal vitamins, what kind are you taking? Do you like them? I take nature made with DHA, so far I like them!
Avatar f tn My prenatal vitamin has the needed amount of folic acid, DHA & iron in one soft gel pill also has omega 3.
Avatar f tn I actually recommend you asking your doctor if he/she can prescribe you a prescription prenatal vitamin. They contain a low dosage of stool softener and you will not have to deal with constipation due to the iron in the vitamin. They also tend to have each and every vitamin, mineral etc that you will need plus the perfect dosage. You wouldn't have to look for certain needed vitamins, most store bought prenatal vitamins actually do not have all the recommended vitamins, minerals etc.
Avatar f tn Due to the fact that the prenatal pills are really strong and make me sick. They contain omega 3+dha, folic acid as much as 3 cups of spinach and vitamins a c and d.
Avatar f tn My prenatal have everything But omega 3 when do I start taking it? I'm 18 weeks.
581359 tn?1454006442 Hi I would recommend 'Pregnancare Plus'. There are two tablets to take daily- one is a prenatal multi vitamin with folic acid 400mcg and the other an omega 3 capsule for brain development. This is the UK's best selling prenatal vit so it is well known. It does not contain harmful vit A. You can get it on ebay- I am sure they will send outside UK too. I will be taking thme throughout pregnancy and while breastfeeding as recommended...
359321 tn?1278268890 MY RE told me to use the prenatals at the pharmacy but someone just told me that they have heard horror stories about the over the counter prenatal vitamins, she said they do not include a stool softener so they make you really constipated as opposed to the prescribed. Is anyone taking the over the counter vitamins??
