518994 tn?1212242047 I read where Omega 3 was good for your dog. Is it a different Omega 3 or is it the same that humans take?
1655526 tn?1330655629 I know that omega 3 is really supposed to be good for the heart, but I get palps after I take them for 3 days, especially krill oil. I've read in this forum that others have also had adverse reactions to taking this supplement. So I wanted to put this poll out to see how omega 3 affects you. The first time I suspected krill oil, which is supposed to be the best omega 3, I used the process of elimination. Still not believing it I did it a second and third time.
Avatar n tn If you teach them a certain lifestyle early, the hope is that it will travel with them throughout their adult years. Studies are showing that omega-3 is good in so many other ways (joint, heart, brain) and now there's another benefit -it can help our kids too.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if I can just take an omega-3 supplement, or should I eat all the foods this app is telling to to get it. I'm not much of a fish eater.
Avatar f tn you know, I haven't been taking the Omega 3 since I got pregnant - they make me nauseous. I just take my prenatals daily. I try to eat healthy(doesn't always happen) but i do try. I didnt take any Omega 3 with my other kids and their fine, so oh well.
Avatar m tn I took an Omega-3 supplement for the first time before going to bed last night, and when I woke up one eye was very swollen and puffy. The only allergies I have had are seasonal. Could I be allergic to the Omega-3 supplement?
Avatar n tn I have been taking fish oil for about 5 years now and take approximately 2 grams with an Omega-3 total breakdown of 600 EHA and 400 DHA per day. I know I know, talk to your doctor bla bla bla (and I will to be sure) In the meantime should I trash the pills?
440171 tn?1204778801 I was told today that Omega 3 Fish Oil is good also for dry skin. I just got a bottle and you just have to take one capsule once a day. It isn't expensive either.
Avatar m tn Recently I heard that taking omega 3 capsules( the transparent one) will increase the risk of prostate cancer. Is there any scientific studies conducted on the subject?
1645208 tn?1301072177 Fish oils and all oily fish are extremely good for dogs. Omega 3 oils, all-round healthy for dogs and people. Tuna, sardines, salmon, mackerel.....(mind the bones. They can be dangerous of course) The bones in canned fish are ok, they are softer and not only edible but an excellent source of calcium too.
Avatar m tn Krill oil is very good for Omega 3 oils, but it's also environmentally not so good for humans to be using as it's the main source of food for so many endangered and threatened species. Something to think about. Nordic Naturals makes a fine fish oil not made of krill, with a dedicated fishery in clean waters off Scandanavia.
Avatar m tn For skin health you want to eat foods high in Omega 3, Antioxidants, Vitamin E, and Vitamin C. Some examples are Fish, and Nuts/Seeds for Omega 3. Berries for Antioxidants ( I love adding blueberries), Spinach or offer Leafy veggies for Vit E. Broccoli, cantaloupe for Vit C.
Avatar n tn Hello~Your diet sounds good, all those things should help and also keep the diabetes in the "normal" range. I would also like to add a list of some things that might help: Vitamin E "Vitamin E can be used as both a supplement and as a topical remedy for dry skin. When taken orally, vitamin E's powerful antioxidant properties can help to protect the skin from further damage.
Avatar m tn Quite a complex topic this but at the same time an interesting one. Omega 3 isn't just one substance, Omega three are fatty acids just like Omega 6 fatty acids found in oils and meat etc. Omega 3 are EPA, DHA, and ALA . Some experts have said that the balance between Omega 6 fatty acids and Omega 3 is key, but just as many say this is nonsense. Omega 3 do have benefits, mainly reducing inflammation in the body, such as in the arteries or joints.
317787 tn?1473358451 Hi there! I just found this group and was wondering if anyone had tried Omega 3 supplements. I am trying them now for stiffness in joints, body. I've also read it can help with brain fog or fuzzy thinking.

1258062 tn?1299842031 what is the right amount of omega 3 during pregnancy? i got 1000 mg per softgel is that safe?
Avatar m tn Most everyone knows or has heard about omega-3. The omega that many haven't heard about but that is very important to your health is omega-6. While omega-6 isn't bad in and of itself, what's bad about omega-6 is that Americans get too much of it. Having too much omega-6 and not enough omega-3 in your diet leads to many diseases. To avoid these diseases, you must keep these two very important essential fatty acids in balance or the right ratio.

Avatar m tn It's fine. It's a very low dose. Omega 3 fats are very good for you. Just make sure it's a good company that uses fish with low contamination levels -- not all supplement companies are created equal. But again, it's fine, and it's a very low dose.
Avatar f tn Regarding the Omega 3 supplement ... dog supplements normally have a mix of omega 3 and omega 6 in the correct ratio. The problem with omega 6 is it is harder to absorb and causes some toxins, as the kidneys need to deal with it, but in the right ratio with omega 3, it should be fine. Just make sure you use a canine supplement, free of other additives, and NOT a human supplement.
Avatar f tn or at least get it into her mouth, Krill Oil is an excellent source of Omega 3 fatty acids and so good for their skin and coat.. also I would change from the friskies...this brand of food is very high in carbs, and carbs lead to the weight gain and skin issues too....Im glad you get the grain free dry, however it would be helpful to have them off all dry food and fed grain free wet only... if they won't accept the grain free wet, than go with a brand that is in PATE form NO gravies...
Avatar n tn At the suggestion of a friend, I recently started taking Omega 3 fish oil capsules. I am also taking high blood pressure medication. Over the past six months my medication has been changed four times as I've had a host of side effects from each medication. Unfortunately, each side effect would occur in conjunction with some other change in my health/lifestyle so it was hard to detect or pinpoint what the cause of my problem was. This recent condition is no exception.
