Avatar f tn My bf is freaking out at me for not taking the fish oil, when I was taking it I used to burp up fish taste all the time and ended up puking which was even stronger fish taste. My doc said omega is important, and I don't like eating fish..any other suggestions?
198942 tn?1236316304 We all need the essential fatty acids to stay healthy, and oils that are high in Omega 3 oils, we get enough Omega 6 oils in our diets through eggs and such. The omega 3 is best obtained from fish, and I take a fish oil supplement for my heart and general brain health, it is in liquid form and not too bad once you get used to it. Flax seed oil is another good oil, it sort of has a "nutty" taste.
Avatar f tn you know, I haven't been taking the Omega 3 since I got pregnant - they make me nauseous. I just take my prenatals daily. I try to eat healthy(doesn't always happen) but i do try. I didnt take any Omega 3 with my other kids and their fine, so oh well.
Avatar m tn Fish oil pills are an excellent way to raise your HDL and lower LDL due to the high content of the Omege 3 fatty acids that they contain. Anything that has a high Omega 3 content will have this effect, such as flax seed. Most commercial eggs are commonly high in Omega 6 fatty acids due to the fact that they are raised in cages and eat the seeds of plants that have a high Omega 6 content. Omega 6 fatty acids have the effect of raising LDL levels in the blood.
Avatar f tn I use scissors and hold the capsule over his kibble - cut tip off and squeeze He seems to like the smell/taste of the oil on his kibble which is also fish based. This capsule is the same that I take, and the dose recommendation for a human (or any weight) is 3 per day. I can't say I see any improvement in his several problems conditions, but I figure it "can't hurt"...
Avatar m tn Oh! I forgot, you would not burp the fish oil if you take the pill each time you eat something or after every meal, I have never had a problem with it.
Avatar m tn t just one substance, Omega three are fatty acids just like Omega 6 fatty acids found in oils and meat etc. Omega 3 are EPA, DHA, and ALA . Some experts have said that the balance between Omega 6 fatty acids and Omega 3 is key, but just as many say this is nonsense. Omega 3 do have benefits, mainly reducing inflammation in the body, such as in the arteries or joints. It can also reduce your clotting factor if taken in too high doses, causing excessive bleeding.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if Omega-3 helps heart arrythmias? It worked for me, but not for my 30 yr old daughter who suffers from PVCs. They can make life hellish but for the most part are benign - but definitely a quality of life issue. I would say avoid all cardiac stimulants like caffeine, nicotine, and believe it or not - anger and sentimental thoughts can cause arrythmias. You can deliver bad hormones into your own body that stimulate your heart by having scary, or sentimental thoughts.
Avatar n tn Ohh never mind here I googled my self just for a quick find for you Its long!! Soft cheeses It's best to avoid cheeses such as Brie, goat, Camembert, feta, queso blanco, and blue or other veined varieties. Why? They may be unpasteurized and contaminated with listeria -- bacteria that can trigger food poisoning.
1655526 tn?1330655629 On Omega-3 supplements, I notice a significant increase in PVCs as well as slight increase in general twitchiness or anxiety. Yeah, it's a sample size of one and I'm the only observer, but that's the way it seems to me. However, some scientists have observed problems in giving patients these supplements: http://www.examiner.
Avatar f tn The omega-3 fatty acids should be in your prenatal.
Avatar f tn Cod liver oil isn't the best fish oil for inflammation or for omega 3 oils. It comes in gel caps, which you don't taste at all. Nordic Naturals is a very good brand for omega 3 rich fish oil.
518994 tn?1212242047 I read where Omega 3 was good for your dog. Is it a different Omega 3 or is it the same that humans take?
Avatar f tn Does anyone take fish oil (like omega 3 6 9) in addition to your prenatals?
Avatar m tn Yesterday i learned my dog has allergies. The vet told me to give her fish oil, omega 3, or make her treats with it. I was wondering if the liquid fish oil you buy for dogs is ok to bake with. I'd like to make some treats, but I don't want to risk making my dog sick but cooking the oil. I also don't know if cooking it will defeat the purpose...if it was reduce the effectiveness of the omega 3s. Has anyone tried this before?
Avatar n tn At the suggestion of a friend, I recently started taking Omega 3 fish oil capsules. I am also taking high blood pressure medication. Over the past six months my medication has been changed four times as I've had a host of side effects from each medication. Unfortunately, each side effect would occur in conjunction with some other change in my health/lifestyle so it was hard to detect or pinpoint what the cause of my problem was. This recent condition is no exception.
Avatar f tn Gas is normal. I am grossed out by fish, so I take omega 3 pills, and they make me extra burpy (and the burps taste like fish...ugh).
1192727 tn?1282735542 What about flaxseed oil as omega-3 fatty acid supplement? Is it better than fish oil? Or does it have the EPA prob?
Avatar f tn I started taking one Omega 3 capsule a day which is fish oil, also found in eggs, avocadoes, nuts, olive oil, etc. I still take it every day and I've had a great pregnancy so far.
1756970 tn?1314376733 i am doing the liquid form version.. also do you know how soon it usually takes for the brain or body to respond to the omega 3 supplement. thanks for the help..
Avatar f tn You should be taking omega 3 in any case. Statins, by lowering cholesterol, also interfere with the absorption of fat soluble nutrients, which of course includes omega 3. The most important for the heart is EFA, which is found in largest amounts in fish oil, but flax and hemp oil are also very high in omega 3 oils. But omega 3 oils don't do the same thing as statins. Statins lower LDL cholesterol, the bad kind, whereas omega 3 oils provide the good kind of cholesterol, HDL.
Avatar f tn Cooked seafood is okay nothing raw like clams or any fish ( due to things they may carry like eating raw eggs you take a chance) swordfish is a big no no and other fish high in mercury. Crab lobster cooked oysters clams shrimp tuna etc are all good for you and high in omega 3 and fatty acids.
Avatar f tn I take either Carlson brand Super Omega 3 Fish Oil or the Trader Joe's Fish Oil. Carlson's can usually be found at a health food store. Trader Joe's is a lot less expensive though. I understand the sensitivity issue. Both of these brands are light on the stomach and the nose! HA!
Avatar m tn Others argue that too much fatty fish might be a problem not because of the Omega 3 oils but the contaminants that have gotten into our fatty fish (you can avoid some of this by taking a reliable supplement, but unfortunately we have to rely on company reputation for this as nobody is doing much checking out there). And with flax, is there a difference between organically grown and that grown with carcinogenic chemical applications? Between farm raised fish and wild fish?
Avatar f tn What brand of Omega 3's are you using? I have been taking just the Kroger brand Omega 3's with fish oil concentrate. Should I maybe look at the health food store for some that are especially for pregnancy? Thanks!
Avatar f tn Hey ladies have any of you gotten a Dr's advice on best source of omega 3 for baby's brain development? I was told that ground flaxseed is best but other literature says that fish oil is better as it has the DHA property. Any advice???
