omega-3

Avatar m tn Quite a complex topic this but at the same time an interesting one. Omega 3 isn't just one substance, Omega three are fatty acids just like Omega 6 fatty acids found in oils and meat etc. Omega 3 are EPA, DHA, and ALA . Some experts have said that the balance between Omega 6 fatty acids and Omega 3 is key, but just as many say this is nonsense. Omega 3 do have benefits, mainly reducing inflammation in the body, such as in the arteries or joints.
9214378 tn?1408881584 Egg yolks contain about three times the amount of omega-6 to omega-3, so I have always said if you are going to give eggs, give three egg whites to one egg yolk, so the balance becomes stable and beneficial. Egg whites have (obviously) far more omega-3, but they are also high in cholesterol, so feeding too much is not good for a dog's heart or cirulatory system. A much better source of omega-3 is salmon oil, as this has many beneficial properties and is easy to digest.
Avatar n tn Salmon is great for the omega 3 and buy eggs with omega 3. Monitor your cholesterol through blood work every year to make sure that the levels are not going up. Monitor your blood pressure to make sure that it is staying within the normal range. Stay active. Take care.
Avatar n tn But hemp seeds and flax seeds, while containing some Omega 6 fats, contain high amounts of Omega 3 fats, which are essential for health. Some Omega 6 is also essential for health, as is Omega 9 and other fats.
Avatar f tn My prenatal have everything But omega 3 when do I start taking it? I'm 18 weeks.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if I can just take an omega-3 supplement, or should I eat all the foods this app is telling to to get it. I'm not much of a fish eater.
Avatar f tn you know, I haven't been taking the Omega 3 since I got pregnant - they make me nauseous. I just take my prenatals daily. I try to eat healthy(doesn't always happen) but i do try. I didnt take any Omega 3 with my other kids and their fine, so oh well.
Avatar m tn I took an Omega-3 supplement for the first time before going to bed last night, and when I woke up one eye was very swollen and puffy. The only allergies I have had are seasonal. Could I be allergic to the Omega-3 supplement?
518994 tn?1212242047 I read where Omega 3 was good for your dog. Is it a different Omega 3 or is it the same that humans take?
1655526 tn?1330655629 I know that omega 3 is really supposed to be good for the heart, but I get palps after I take them for 3 days, especially krill oil. I've read in this forum that others have also had adverse reactions to taking this supplement. So I wanted to put this poll out to see how omega 3 affects you. The first time I suspected krill oil, which is supposed to be the best omega 3, I used the process of elimination. Still not believing it I did it a second and third time.
Avatar f tn You should be taking omega 3 in any case. Statins, by lowering cholesterol, also interfere with the absorption of fat soluble nutrients, which of course includes omega 3. The most important for the heart is EFA, which is found in largest amounts in fish oil, but flax and hemp oil are also very high in omega 3 oils. But omega 3 oils don't do the same thing as statins. Statins lower LDL cholesterol, the bad kind, whereas omega 3 oils provide the good kind of cholesterol, HDL.
Avatar f tn Lyndsey, what they mean about eggs is that raw eggs "can" have a bacteria that is potentially harmful for our growing fetus. But eat well cooked eggs is just fine.
Avatar m tn Fish oil pills are an excellent way to raise your HDL and lower LDL due to the high content of the Omege 3 fatty acids that they contain. Anything that has a high Omega 3 content will have this effect, such as flax seed. Most commercial eggs are commonly high in Omega 6 fatty acids due to the fact that they are raised in cages and eat the seeds of plants that have a high Omega 6 content. Omega 6 fatty acids have the effect of raising LDL levels in the blood.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have been TTC for the past six years now with the help of various fertility doctors/clinics. I am 48 years old. My now fertility doctor told me that my chances would be excellent, a good 70% chance that I would concieve using donor eggs. I have been told that I have a healthy uterus equivilant of a 35-year old. Well, my husband and I tried twice now with two different donors, ages 21 & 24. Neither of them worked.
703362 tn?1427766328 I love them and used to raise my own exotic chickens and enjoy their fresh eggs - boy do I miss them. You can now buy eggs with Omega 3 (or 6?) in it. They feed flax seeds to the chickens and it makes the eggs even more healthier for you.
Avatar f tn ) They have folic acid, vitamins D, E, K, C, B1, B2, B12, B6, B3, Fcolic Acid, Calcium, Iron, Zinc, Copper, Omega 3 Fish Oils with added DHA. They are the best ones you can buy in UK but slightly expensive.
198942 tn?1236316304 We all need the essential fatty acids to stay healthy, and oils that are high in Omega 3 oils, we get enough Omega 6 oils in our diets through eggs and such. The omega 3 is best obtained from fish, and I take a fish oil supplement for my heart and general brain health, it is in liquid form and not too bad once you get used to it. Flax seed oil is another good oil, it sort of has a "nutty" taste.
1157646 tn?1343967128 Thank you for your reply TrudieC. I will definately try both heat and cold to see what helps. I will also definately up my intake of Omega 3. Thanks again!!
973741 tn?1342342773 We thank the Thunders, for they are the manitous that bring the rain, which the Creator has given them power to rule over. And we thank our mother, the Earth, whom we claim as mother because the Earth carries us and everything we need.
Avatar f tn My diet contains no transfat or vegetable oils high in omega 6 and my favourite foods are bacon, eggs, butter and cheese. I found an article that lists ways to reduce prostaglandins. I don't eat anything raw though..ugh! lol Excerpt from the article Tripping Lightly Down the Prostaglandin Pathways... "Tips for Tripping Lightly Down the Prostaglandin Pathways 1. 671251 tn?1236116671 I checked out some library books about childbirth. I got one book about diet called Healthy Eating During Pregnancy. It says that Omega 3 fatty acids are "brain building fats" for the baby's developing brain. It's especially important to eat a lot during the last three months of pregnancy when the brain grows so much. It's also good for the baby's nerves and eyes. Eggs and certain kinds of fish are good sources.
Avatar f tn And it does involve having hormone treatment so the egg donor will produce a lot of eggs at one time. Then (if the intended mother has had a hysterectomy) a gestational carrier ("surrogate mother") would be needed. The only way you could give your husband a baby at this point is if an embryo was produced with donor eggs from a younger donor, and his sperm, and carried by a gestational surrogate.
296340 tn?1336164001 Nuts and seeds, including almonds, walnuts and pumpkin seeds, are a great source of fatty acids. Omega 3 and omega fatty acids are hormone regulators and vital to a woman’s fertility since a hormonal imbalance can interfere with ovulation. Cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower, contain Vitamin A as well as a substance called di-indolylmethane, which regulates the metabolism of estrogen that is essential for keeping fertility hormones in check.
