Avatar f tn No, it's not the Omega 6 that's in overabundance, it's GLA from evening primrose oil. However, you'll probably get better results for HDL by taking the Omega 3 product (I'm assuming you bought Nordic Naturals, an excellent brand). The one you've got is great for overall essential fatty acids, especially for women with hormone problems, but for cholesterol the Omega 3 oils are the best. These are found in fish oil, hemp oil, and flax oil primarily.
Avatar n tn Stay away from St. John's work and SAM-E I think it's called, they both have serious interactions that are extremely harmful. Sam-E even has a warning that it's not to be taken by Bipolars. . Be aware that just because something is natural doesn't mean it isn't dangerous or may interact with your meds. I honestly wouldn't waste your time on Acai berry, it's just hype, it's basically just an expensive juice.
Avatar m tn After being diagnosed with the beginnings of heart disease I have been doing a lot of reading and it appears that Omega 3 may benefit my condition. Does anyone know if this is true and if so can you get Omega 3 anyway other than eating fish?
Avatar f tn Please don't misunderstand me. I am not advocating for not taking any multivitamins; I'm just saying that for specific vitamins and minerals, there are food alternatives that are better - if you incorporate them into your daily diet. I actually take Centrum and a folic acid supplement daily since they give me most of the vitamins that I need and don't cost much, but was spending alot of money on prenatal Omega-3 pills. The flax seed is an alternative to Omega-3 only.
Avatar f tn I am 45 almost 46, I am 4 months pregnant with the help of donor eggs. I started TTC with my own eggs at 44. I have a fsh of 7 and an amh of 5.3, I have 3 kids from my 20's and my new dh has none. I had my tubes tied 16 years ago. So at 44 I did ivf, I made 18 follies 11 fertilized and we transferred 3 embies but got a bfn, 7 snow babies one survived the thaw. bfn. Then we had a tubal reversal and tried natural for 4 months then had 4 medicated iui's but nothing..bfn.
9214378 tn?1408881584 Egg yolks contain about three times the amount of omega-6 to omega-3, so I have always said if you are going to give eggs, give three egg whites to one egg yolk, so the balance becomes stable and beneficial. Egg whites have (obviously) far more omega-3, but they are also high in cholesterol, so feeding too much is not good for a dog's heart or cirulatory system. A much better source of omega-3 is salmon oil, as this has many beneficial properties and is easy to digest.
Avatar f tn I have to agree with plumber43 and flood2163. You may want to jump right into IVF. I just turned 44 in May. I never had a problem getting pregnant in my 20's (eldest son at 26 and youngest son at 28). My periods were occurring every 27 days like clockwork. I even conceived naturally last March (at 42) and miscarried two months later in May, on Mother's Day :-( ,at the age of 43.
703362 tn?1427766328 I love them and used to raise my own exotic chickens and enjoy their fresh eggs - boy do I miss them. You can now buy eggs with Omega 3 (or 6?) in it. They feed flax seeds to the chickens and it makes the eggs even more healthier for you.
198942 tn?1236316304 We all need the essential fatty acids to stay healthy, and oils that are high in Omega 3 oils, we get enough Omega 6 oils in our diets through eggs and such. The omega 3 is best obtained from fish, and I take a fish oil supplement for my heart and general brain health, it is in liquid form and not too bad once you get used to it. Flax seed oil is another good oil, it sort of has a "nutty" taste.
1806883 tn?1458321004 had my app with the new re that replaced my retired one, and what a waste, left in disgust and thanfully didnt have to pay a cent.....
Avatar f tn I also wondered about Alexis Stewart and if she used donor eggs.. I dont think we'll ever know.It is not ethical for anyone from Alexis's clinic or anywhere else to state whether a certain patient used donor eggs and I dont believe anyone from a clinic would say that. Alexis would likely not admit it either and at this point it doesn't really matter. I do know Christie Brinkley used donors with her last child.
1529194 tn?1296587517 re not a candidate for IVF - and I agree it would be a waste of money - is because FSH is actually a measure of how well you will respond to IVF meds. With a high FSH they just can't stimulate you enough to produce a high number of eggs, which is the whole point of IVF. I myself had an FSH of 15.4 and went through IVF only to produce one and only egg - the same one I produced every month anyway. It didn't fertilize, and I was $20K poorer.
Avatar f tn Just left re 6 days on stims and only 2 follies one on each side one is measuring 14 the other 13.3 she said I have a alot of eggs!!! is this good or bad I feel like im running out of time and money the meds our so expensive and my insurance covers nothing!!!!!!
Avatar f tn I don't think we can really answer you and give you medical advice. It seems like you might suffer from premature ovarian failure...but of course only your doctor can tell you this. to answer your question, yes a follicle can be empty with no egg, it happens. You won't be able to conceive naturally, and IUI probably won't help. All IUI is just injecting the sperm closer to the egg, but if you don't have an egg it's useless and will be a waste of time money and effort.
518994 tn?1212242047 There are various vitamin-mineral supplements available that contain this or you could just add a little (~1/2 teaspoon) extra virgin olive oil to your dogs meals. Olive oil is a great source of Omega-3 Fatty acids. The omega-3's are the same for people and pets. If you give too much the result would be a bit of gas and/or loose stool.
1655526 tn?1330655629 m not a big fish eater, but I do eat it once in a while, probably is better to get the omega 3 that way and not to over do it.
Avatar f tn The omega-3 fatty acids should be in your prenatal.
Avatar f tn My prenatal have everything But omega 3 when do I start taking it? I'm 18 weeks.
1501861 tn?1332970795 I am considering donated eggs and I have a serious potential donor. I am confident that she would produce more eggs than I could ever use. We only want one child and I would hate to waste the eggs if someone could benefit from them. The potential egg donor is 18 and has a healthy baby, she is bright, ambitious, and a very pretty girl. Unfortunately she has no support from her family and is starting college and could use the money.
Avatar m tn I took an Omega-3 supplement for the first time before going to bed last night, and when I woke up one eye was very swollen and puffy. The only allergies I have had are seasonal. Could I be allergic to the Omega-3 supplement?
1281900 tn?1320336402 In addition, omega-3 fatty acids are part of a healthy diet that helps lower risk of heart disease. Our bodies naturally produce small amounts of DHA, but we must get the amounts we need from our diet or supplements.
Avatar f tn Lyndsey, what they mean about eggs is that raw eggs "can" have a bacteria that is potentially harmful for our growing fetus. But eat well cooked eggs is just fine.
