omega-3

Avatar m tn Some experts have said that the balance between Omega 6 fatty acids and Omega 3 is key, but just as many say this is nonsense. Omega 3 do have benefits, mainly reducing inflammation in the body, such as in the arteries or joints. It can also reduce your clotting factor if taken in too high doses, causing excessive bleeding. Experts do agree on one thing, take omega 3 acids from foods rather than supplements. Without a doubt, having enough Omega 3 acids in your diet does improve health.
Avatar m tn Recently I heard that taking omega 3 capsules( the transparent one) will increase the risk of prostate cancer. Is there any scientific studies conducted on the subject?
Avatar n tn While all children with ADHD are not deficient in omega-3 fatty acids, we believe that the addition of omega-3 fatty acids to the diet may be important for some ADHD children. In fact, studies show that children whose treatment program includes only medication, educational and psychological therapy continue to be at high risk for vandalism, petty crime, frequency of alcoholic intoxication, and possession of marijuana.

Avatar m tn Most everyone knows or has heard about omega-3. The omega that many haven't heard about but that is very important to your health is omega-6. While omega-6 isn't bad in and of itself, what's bad about omega-6 is that Americans get too much of it. Having too much omega-6 and not enough omega-3 in your diet leads to many diseases. To avoid these diseases, you must keep these two very important essential fatty acids in balance or the right ratio.
Avatar m tn Each quartile corresponded to the level of omega-3 fatty acids in their blood. The first quartile was very low in omega-3 fatty acids; the second quartile was higher in omega-3s, etc. The researchers found that the men in the second-lowest quartile had a 45 percent lower risk of sudden cardiac death compared with those in the lowest quartile, and those in the second highest quartile had a 72 percent lower risk of death.
Avatar m tn Oh! I forgot, you would not burp the fish oil if you take the pill each time you eat something or after every meal, I have never had a problem with it.
Avatar f tn What brand of Omega 3's are you using? I have been taking just the Kroger brand Omega 3's with fish oil concentrate. Should I maybe look at the health food store for some that are especially for pregnancy? Thanks!
874521 tn?1424116797 PLEASE be aware that not all EFAs are absorbed equally by the body. Also a RATIO or BALANCE of omega 6 to omega 3 fatty acids give the optimum results. As well as the amount of the fatty acid ratio is beneficial -- ie giving extra or not giving enough doesn't work as well as the ideal amount in published research. And it takes an average of 6 weeks (4-12 week range) of giving the EFAs to see the results in the skin.
122065 tn?1241385329 s including DHA and EPA. I understand that there have been many studies on the benefits of Omega Fish oil on the eyes and body as a whole, so I started using it sometime ago. I'll continue with that and give the Restasis a good try. I have no risk factors such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes or obesity, so I think your suggestion of 2 a day is fine. That's a great idea about freezing them to ease any stomach upset!
Avatar n tn Filled with the fatty acids your body needs, evening primrose oil can help support healthy, moisturized skin from the inside out. Essential fatty acids (EFAs) comprise omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids and play a key role in maintaining good skin health," says Jeffrey Gladd, MD, a member of the Care/of Scientific Advisory Board. "However, our bodies don't naturally produce EFAs, and therefore they can only be obtained through our diet and supplementation.
Avatar f tn Was wondering with all the heart benefits of omega 3, along with the resveratrol, and baby asa, do you have to worry about thinning your blood too much?? Is it okay to take all of these things every day?
1655526 tn?1330655629 So I wanted to put this poll out to see how omega 3 affects you. The first time I suspected krill oil, which is supposed to be the best omega 3, I used the process of elimination. Still not believing it I did it a second and third time. Now I don't dare take it even after my ablation for SVT because I don't want the other arrythmias.
Avatar f tn you know, I haven't been taking the Omega 3 since I got pregnant - they make me nauseous. I just take my prenatals daily. I try to eat healthy(doesn't always happen) but i do try. I didnt take any Omega 3 with my other kids and their fine, so oh well.
Avatar m tn you may be allergic. the other possibility is that you were stung or bitten by an insect in the night, seeing that the symptoms you were experiencing were in one localized area.
Avatar n tn As with any medication or supplement one has to weigh the benefits and risks. I find that very often a substance will be VERY GOOD for you and before you know it, the same substance will be VERY BAD for you. This even applies to certain foods and I feel that it takes many, many years of investigation before such claims should be made. WE are quite different than mice ! Even Mammograms are considered a risk for developing Breast Cancer and they are the prime method of discovery of the disease.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if I can just take an omega-3 supplement, or should I eat all the foods this app is telling to to get it. I'm not much of a fish eater.

1319721 tn?1276040968 Food and Drug Administration stopped just short of stating that Omega 3 fatty acids conclusively reduced the risk of heart disease. It was enough though, to fuel a craze about fish oil. Studies would go on to find that the Omega 3 fatty acids had other benefits than just cardio. After the initial fish oil craze, krill oil benefits began to emerge. Krill oil had actually been studied over twenty years ago.
Avatar m tn I have the opposite effect with omega 3 from krill oil. It makes them tons worse. I take a tsp. of flax seed each day and blend them in a smoothie and that doesn't seem to bother me. What brand of plant based omega 3 do you use? After my bad experiences with krill oil, I'm kind of scared to take anything but whole flax seeds.
Avatar f tn Gabriel encourages intake of flaxseeds, salmon, organic grass, dairy products; omega 3 enriched eggs etc.It encourages exercise and provides long term benefits though the results may take time to show up. It also effectively addresses psychological issues which may affect weight loss. It is best to consult a doctor before taking up any dietary plan. Do keep me posted. Best luck and regards!
Avatar f tn You should be taking omega 3 in any case. Statins, by lowering cholesterol, also interfere with the absorption of fat soluble nutrients, which of course includes omega 3. The most important for the heart is EFA, which is found in largest amounts in fish oil, but flax and hemp oil are also very high in omega 3 oils. But omega 3 oils don't do the same thing as statins. Statins lower LDL cholesterol, the bad kind, whereas omega 3 oils provide the good kind of cholesterol, HDL.
