Avatar f tn I have talked to a lot of people taking statins and some feel no side effects and others get them bad and right away. I react very badly to them and got off of them several times. My sister reacted the same way when she got on them. One question to ask yourself is why to people with low cholesterol have just as many heart attacks as those with high...that's because cholesterol is not the total picture. Inflammation is.
403156 tn?1290150018 I read that Omega 3s can improve attention and so I decided to give them a try, no side effects. My attention span and ability to focus has increased tremendously. It is crazy how fast it worked as well (past 2 weeks). Ritalin did nothing for me in the past except make matters worse - so I gave up on ADD meds. The Omega 3 supplements have also improved my mood. I wasn't depressed, but I now feel like I have an added boost to my mood.
Avatar n tn I am having some pretty severe side effects from 3 years of Cymbalta use. I was prescribed Cymbalta when I was diagnosed with Poly Myalgia. I do think it took the edge off of severe pain and fatigue. ANyway, I now have a rash that flairs about 12 hours aftyer each pill, and I have had three kidney infections in the last 4 months related to not emptying my bladder completely. I think it is also from Cymbalta. The side effects peak together.
Avatar f tn While he was put on a regime of steroids he kept the side-effects to a minimim by practicing a low-carb diet and exercise. I know steroids are not good on the liver and increase the VL. When I was first diagnosed with Hep C I couldn't get a biopsy because my platelets were so low. I couldn't take the steroids because of their reaction with Hep C.

Avatar f tn Salmon, nuts, brown rice, oatmeal are good for the heart. Omega 3 is great for the heart. Fresh vegetables and fruit are good. Avoid processed meats and hotdogs. Diet and exercise can help a lot (more than most people think). Hope you are able to get your LDL down and feel good. Take care.

Avatar m tn Omega 3 oils by themselves won't replace statins. Doing this the natural way would require a complete program, including diet, exercise, relaxation exercises, and supplements for reducing cholesterol, protecting the integrity of the blood vessel walls, etc.
Avatar m tn htm I would try treating him with herbal meds, but be careful those can have side effects too. Do research and give him flax seed or fish oil but the flax seed is safe as far as I know. 518994 tn?1212242047 I read where Omega 3 was good for your dog. Is it a different Omega 3 or is it the same that humans take?
Avatar f tn I take one to fight babybrain. Omegas are stripped from myelin shealths during pregnancy and since they act as lubricant in the conduction of, essentially thoughts, our thought process is slowed. I didn't ask my doc about it yet but it does clear up fog in my brain.

Avatar n tn About the time I quit taking Neurontin I began taking omega-3 supplements and my libido came roaring back. Apparently omega-3 helps build testosterone which helps the libido. Avatar n tn At the suggestion of a friend, I recently started taking Omega 3 fish oil capsules. I am also taking high blood pressure medication. Over the past six months my medication has been changed four times as I've had a host of side effects from each medication. Unfortunately, each side effect would occur in conjunction with some other change in my health/lifestyle so it was hard to detect or pinpoint what the cause of my problem was. This recent condition is no exception.
