omega-3

Avatar f tn 5 +/- 10 with creatinine clearance (Cr(cl)) 105 +/- 27 ml/min and proteinuria 3 +/- 2 g/24 h were given orally 810 mg EPA and 540 mg DHA daily for 12 months. Omega-3 supplementation is associated with the improvement of both renal vascular function and tubule function* in IgA Nephropathy patients." *Tubule dysfunction is associated with frequent urination issues.

Avatar n tn There’s no drug to decrease creatinine levels but the only way is to find out the underlying cause of the deranged kidney function and rectify the same. By taking the dietary precautions mentioned above, one tends to decrease the workload which improves the kidney function. I’ll suggest a nephrologist opinion. I hope that helps.
Avatar n tn The renal disease (kidney) like nephrotic syndrome, glomerulonephritis, and renal failure can cause such symptoms. You need to undergo urine analysis, renal function tests and radio imaging of the kidneys to rule out the cause and should be treated promptly to prevent further complications. We cannot rule out the exact cause without examination. If infection suspected, you need cleaning of eyes and antibiotic drops in eye with oral antibiotic treatment against prescription.
Avatar n tn The connection between omega-3 fatty acid deficiency and ADHD has been confirmed by studies in which youngsters with ADHD, when compared with non-ADHD children had much lower blood levels of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), an omega-3 fatty acid necessary for normal function of the eyes and the cerebral cortex (the brain region that handles higher functions such as reasoning and memory). Scientific Evidence Two types of fatty acids are considered essential.
Avatar m tn Same with omega-3 oils, as anti-depressants often cause weight gain and increased cholesterol, which is aided by omega 3 oils, and they also aid brain function, particularly fish oil (DHA). Fish oil is also said to help with the brain zaps some people get when they stop ssris, so it's useful to have in your system.
1655526 tn?1330655629 So im not crazy after all.. I have told doctors and other people that fish and omega 3 bother my arrthymia. Noone believed me but I know what happens and it isnt pretty. I stay away from it. I did find an article once that said its good for the heart but people with arrythmias it can make them go into life threating ones.
Avatar m tn Higher concentrations of EPA and DHA, the active components in omega-3s, can also be found in LOVAZA — the first and only prescription omega-3 medication. It is important to know that some types of fish may contain mercury and other pollutants from the environment. Therefore, the American Heart Association (AHA) cautions that some people should limit the amount of certain types of fish they eat.
Avatar m tn ( Our vet has put her on Royal Canin Renal A Dry Food. She has no problem eating it. She shows no symptoms of CKF and has a voracious appetite. With her size and appetite, the food will be quite expensive $125+ per month compared to previously $30 month. Obviously the expense is worth it so we can get more time with her, but are there any home made food recipes that are safe for kidney disease that I can use to supplement her prescription kibbles?
Avatar n tn Other things we know/believe reduce risk include taking a baby aspirin per day, lowering cholesterol (including taking statin drugs), taking ACE inhibitors, and possibly taking supplements of thiamine (benfothiamine), Omega-3 fatty acids (fish oil), anti-oxidants (Vit E, beta carotene, etc). However, in those people most at risk -- because of genetic predisposition or other factors -- bad outcomes still happen, and they, tragically, happen young.
550622 tn?1247656720 The Optomistrist has me on 3 different eye drops and an Omega-3 Capsule. The red in my eye is starting to clear up. Is the really a chronic issue or does it get better?
518994 tn?1212242047 I read where Omega 3 was good for your dog. Is it a different Omega 3 or is it the same that humans take?
Avatar f tn I take one to fight babybrain. Omegas are stripped from myelin shealths during pregnancy and since they act as lubricant in the conduction of, essentially thoughts, our thought process is slowed. I didn't ask my doc about it yet but it does clear up fog in my brain.
Avatar f tn you know, I haven't been taking the Omega 3 since I got pregnant - they make me nauseous. I just take my prenatals daily. I try to eat healthy(doesn't always happen) but i do try. I didnt take any Omega 3 with my other kids and their fine, so oh well.
Avatar f tn I take my prenatal pill one times a day. And It has everything I need But No omega 3 an I heard to take it 2nd or 3rd trimester. Just don't remember what was said.
Avatar m tn I took an Omega-3 supplement for the first time before going to bed last night, and when I woke up one eye was very swollen and puffy. The only allergies I have had are seasonal. Could I be allergic to the Omega-3 supplement?
Avatar f tn My dad has only one kidney and it is at 19% function. What stage would this be considered? He is 92 so I am trying to decide what course of action to take.
Avatar f tn Fish oils, primrose oil or flax seed oil are necessary for repair and for proper function of cellular membranes and have anti-inflammatory properties. These need to be a of mix omega 3, omega 6 and omega 9 oils—4000 to 6000 mg per day in split doses. They can be purchased as liquids and mixed with your smoothies.
Avatar n tn I am not sure of your question. Are you asking where omega 3 and omega 6 foods come from? Omegas 3 / 6 are polyunsaturated oils that help lower cholesterol and help prevent blood platelets from clotting blood vessel walls. The best source is fish especially mackerel, tuna, salmon, and lake trout. Fish should be eaten 2-3 times a week. Omega 3 are found in whole nuts, soy nuts / oil, and canola oil. Recommend 1-2 teaspoons of nuts daily. Hope this answered your question.
Avatar n tn You may want to consider taking fish liver oil capsules as they are a rich source of vitamins A and E and contain omega-3 fatty acids that will also lower your blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
Avatar n tn I assume you likely already had since you had a kidney function test and whomever ordered that test knows the results. What kind of follow up are they giving you for this and what is the doctor's recommendation? This page does reference vemlidy with regards to renal issues. https://www.rxlist.com/vemlidy-drug.htm. Again, we urge you to come up with the appropriate course of action with your doctors and hope that others weigh in here on the forum. Best of health to you.
Avatar n tn sorry 2 to 3 ltr per day, go and see a renal ditecian
Avatar n tn s current kidney function and renal parenchyma of 8 mm, it would be a good decision to go for conservative surgery. Though there is a small chance that he may require Nephrectomy at a later stage, Pyeloplasty would be the best treatment at this stage. Nephrectomy is typically indicated when renal parenchyma is less than 3-4 mm. So if you understand and agree that there is a small possibility that your father may require a second surgery later, you can go for a pyeloplasty now.
Avatar n tn When treatment is required, restored renal function allows use of combination therapy with IFN and ribavirin. Limitations of current HCV therapy include lack of tolerability and suboptimal response rates. New antiviral agents that can be used in dialysis patients (e.g., ribavirin alternatives) and in the posttransplantation setting (e.g., IFN alternatives) are needed to improve outcomes in these populations.
Avatar n tn For Stage 3 CKD, the aim is to reduce the risks of progressive renal disease such as cardiovascular events including proteinuria, hematuria of renal origin, declining GFR. Healthy diet and lifestyle, as well as long term monitoring of renal function is indicated . Immunization with influenza and pneumococcal as well as regular follow-up with your attending physician are recommended. Alternative techniques such as medication, yoga and other relaxation techniques may help.
Avatar f tn I am not aware that impaired renal function precludes treatment for HCV. I have read that kidney disease is a negative predictor of SVR but, so too are a lot of conditions yet people have overcome them. I have seen articles which discuss the plasma levels of ribavirin with renal impaired patients. The suggestion is that rather than weight base dose these patients the dose should be arrived at by considering GFR (glomerular filtration rate). This is from Clinical Care Options @ http://tiny.
Avatar n tn Chronic kidney disease is caused by diabetes mellitus, high blood pressure, polycystic kidney disease and some medications like pain killers. Medications are given to reduce the blood pressure and to correct the anemia. When the renal function is below the optimal level then dialysis is initiated. At the end stage of renal failure renal transplant from a competent donor would be the therapy of choice. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn The blood urea nitrogen or BUN test is primarily used, along with the creatinine test, to evaluate kidney function. Those with advanced cirrhosis may have an impact on kidney function as their liver function progressively fails. This is why the creatinine level is one the the blood tests that make up the MELD score that determines the need for liver transplantation. Typically when a patient experiences Hepatorenal Syndrome as a result of cirrhosis a HIGH creatinine level is seen.
