Omega 3 and n 6

Common Questions and Answers about Omega 3 and n 6

omega-3

Avatar n tn I am not sure of your question. Are you asking where omega 3 and omega 6 foods come from? Omegas 3 / 6 are polyunsaturated oils that help lower cholesterol and help prevent blood platelets from clotting blood vessel walls. The best source is fish especially mackerel, tuna, salmon, and lake trout. Fish should be eaten 2-3 times a week. Omega 3 are found in whole nuts, soy nuts / oil, and canola oil. Recommend 1-2 teaspoons of nuts daily. Hope this answered your question.
Avatar f tn I started taking omega3 fish oil supplements, and my Dr was fine with it. I take that along with my prenatals and vitamin D, and a teaspoon of coconut oil..
Avatar f tn It lasted for a month And then I was worried so visited the gyn and he did scan but every thing was fine in me and the could not diagnose the problem cos i failed to tell him I took vit e n omega 3. Then when I stopped this meds the bleeding stopped. And then i took omega 3 alone for about a month but did not bleed nor had the reddish brown substance comming out. So i think vit e was the problem n not just good for me.
720228 tn?1530911279 How much omega 3, 6, 9? just had my cholestrol checked and it was 255. I am also starting prevastation. I know that you can not be pregnant while on this medication but if you happen to become pregnant while taking it I know to stop it immediately. What if any are the risks of taking this medication during the first two to three weeks of pregnancy since it takes that long to find out that you are pregnant?
1655526 tn?1330655629 Coincidently, around 12 years ago when my arrythmia took a turn for the worse, I was on a health kick, had decided to clean up my health and diet, and started taking fish oil with Omega 3-6-9 and borage oil because I had heard it was heart healthy and would lower my cholesterol. Never made the connection between the supplements and the worsening arrythmia. I was on several other self-prescribed vitamin and mineral supplements as well.
Avatar m tn t just one substance, Omega three are fatty acids just like Omega 6 fatty acids found in oils and meat etc. Omega 3 are EPA, DHA, and ALA . Some experts have said that the balance between Omega 6 fatty acids and Omega 3 is key, but just as many say this is nonsense. Omega 3 do have benefits, mainly reducing inflammation in the body, such as in the arteries or joints. It can also reduce your clotting factor if taken in too high doses, causing excessive bleeding.
Avatar m tn Higher concentrations of EPA and DHA, the active components in omega-3s, can also be found in LOVAZA — the first and only prescription omega-3 medication. It is important to know that some types of fish may contain mercury and other pollutants from the environment. Therefore, the American Heart Association (AHA) cautions that some people should limit the amount of certain types of fish they eat.
Avatar f tn 1 and 5:1. (I should mention here that the evidence of benefit in dogs has been in dogs with lymphoma, and to my knowledge, no studies of dogs with mast cell tumor and omega-3 fatty acids have yet been reported).
518994 tn?1212242047 I read where Omega 3 was good for your dog. Is it a different Omega 3 or is it the same that humans take?
Avatar f tn you know, I haven't been taking the Omega 3 since I got pregnant - they make me nauseous. I just take my prenatals daily. I try to eat healthy(doesn't always happen) but i do try. I didnt take any Omega 3 with my other kids and their fine, so oh well.
Avatar f tn I take my prenatal pill one times a day. And It has everything I need But No omega 3 an I heard to take it 2nd or 3rd trimester. Just don't remember what was said.
Avatar m tn I took an Omega-3 supplement for the first time before going to bed last night, and when I woke up one eye was very swollen and puffy. The only allergies I have had are seasonal. Could I be allergic to the Omega-3 supplement?
Avatar m tn Most everyone knows or has heard about omega-3. The omega that many haven't heard about but that is very important to your health is omega-6. While omega-6 isn't bad in and of itself, what's bad about omega-6 is that Americans get too much of it. Having too much omega-6 and not enough omega-3 in your diet leads to many diseases. To avoid these diseases, you must keep these two very important essential fatty acids in balance or the right ratio.
Avatar f tn I've purchased galic and parsley tablets as well as Omega 3-6-9 tablets in the hope of getting my colesterol levels to a normal numbering. But today I read that Omega 6 isn't that good as it could counter the effect of Omega 3 and induce inflammation. Now I"m wondering if I just spent 30$ for nothing. What do you think?
4274823 tn?1388529098 Thanks for the list. I avoid soy and flax due to a health issue. I do eat pumpkin seeds and walnuts as well as plenty of vegetables and fruit. Interesting about papaya. Ideally I would like to get it from food rather than have to purchase an expensive supplement that I don't feel 100% comfortable with.
Avatar f tn before I started treating my Dr, had me taking omega 3-6-9 and vit D omega 1000 three times a day and D once. Finished treatment in march and still take the omega and d, didnt want me to stop. See him again in september for 6 month eot. I do see a hepatologist at a transplant ctr.
603543 tn?1255294450 m not trying to be a spoiler, but I did the Omega 3 thing for 6 months at high dosages. The Omega 3 suppliment I was using was top grade from a health store. It cost twice as much as other formulas because of it higher quality. 6 full months of this Omega 3 experiment produced absolutly no improvement in my Severe depression. Perhaps my condition is more severe than your and that's why I failed to respond to it.
Avatar f tn there is a lot of omega 6 bad fat into peanut butter, as I posted before about omega 6 and omega 3 , we eat a lot of omega 6 every day and not enough omega 3 that unbalanced our system and create inflammation in our body and inflammation create a lot of illness as PATM is one of theses, the Black seeds people take is working of course!!! its a really good anti inflammatory for the body. turmeric too is a really good anti inflammatory if ever you want to try..
Avatar n tn If you are just doing this so he will 'fit' school - take the poor kid out of school! It messes with his head, self esteem, heart health etc. There are other ways to learn. Teaching emotional regulation, attention regulation etc. There is heaps of great, free info out there. Fish oil, diet chnges etc can help. Nurture and guide him. Docs dont love him like you do.
Avatar f tn Fish oils, primrose oil or flax seed oil are necessary for repair and for proper function of cellular membranes and have anti-inflammatory properties. These need to be a of mix omega 3, omega 6 and omega 9 oils—4000 to 6000 mg per day in split doses. They can be purchased as liquids and mixed with your smoothies.
Avatar m tn I have the opposite effect with omega 3 from krill oil. It makes them tons worse. I take a tsp. of flax seed each day and blend them in a smoothie and that doesn't seem to bother me. What brand of plant based omega 3 do you use? After my bad experiences with krill oil, I'm kind of scared to take anything but whole flax seeds.
Avatar f tn nope..nvr heard bout berries but yeah do avoid artificial sweeteners n MSG....i kno how d 2ww thing is...jus got AF 2day...1st iui failed....tke cre..n lotsa babydust 2 u...
Avatar f tn The EPA / DHA come from the omega 3 so it is important to know ratios of the omega 3 / omega 6 fat oils sources and compare the actual ingredients of the supplements. Omega 3 should have the higher amount then omega 6.
Avatar f tn My doc recommends a prenatal vitamin for everyone and omega 3 if u have less than 3 servings of fish each week.
