Avatar n tn In 1987, researchers further documented that 48 children with ADHD reported significantly greater thirst, more frequent urination, and more health and learning problems than children without ADHD. Significantly lower levels of two omega-6 fatty acids and one omega-3 fatty acid (DHA) were found in the subjects with ADHD symptoms.
Avatar m tn Krill oil is very good for Omega 3 oils, but it's also environmentally not so good for humans to be using as it's the main source of food for so many endangered and threatened species. Something to think about. Nordic Naturals makes a fine fish oil not made of krill, with a dedicated fishery in clean waters off Scandanavia.
550622 tn?1247656720 The Optomistrist has me on 3 different eye drops and an Omega-3 Capsule. The red in my eye is starting to clear up. Is the really a chronic issue or does it get better?
Avatar m tn it has no such effects, a trial made in italy found it helps immune system turn hbeag to negative but the trial was very small so i dont think t has any effect really it lowers oxidative stress and helps clear fatty liver together with omega 3 fish oil.
Avatar m tn Found a study on Omega-3 and HCC Consumption of n-3 fatty acids and fish reduces risk of hepatocellular carcinoma. Abstract BACKGROUND Fish is a rich source of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), such as eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), docosapentaenoic acid (DPA), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Although consumption of fish and n-3 PUFA has been reported to protect against the development of some types of cancer, little is known about its association with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
Avatar f tn I take one to fight babybrain. Omegas are stripped from myelin shealths during pregnancy and since they act as lubricant in the conduction of, essentially thoughts, our thought process is slowed. I didn't ask my doc about it yet but it does clear up fog in my brain.

Avatar m tn I took an Omega-3 supplement for the first time before going to bed last night, and when I woke up one eye was very swollen and puffy. The only allergies I have had are seasonal. Could I be allergic to the Omega-3 supplement?
Avatar f tn I've purchased galic and parsley tablets as well as Omega 3-6-9 tablets in the hope of getting my colesterol levels to a normal numbering. But today I read that Omega 6 isn't that good as it could counter the effect of Omega 3 and induce inflammation. Now I"m wondering if I just spent 30$ for nothing. What do you think?
Avatar f tn You should be taking omega 3 in any case. Statins, by lowering cholesterol, also interfere with the absorption of fat soluble nutrients, which of course includes omega 3. The most important for the heart is EFA, which is found in largest amounts in fish oil, but flax and hemp oil are also very high in omega 3 oils. But omega 3 oils don't do the same thing as statins. Statins lower LDL cholesterol, the bad kind, whereas omega 3 oils provide the good kind of cholesterol, HDL.
Avatar f tn Labs vary but in general the MCHC can range from 31 to 36g/dl. Most likely nothing major going on with this lab result. Increased MCHC values (hyperchromia) are seen in conditions where the hemoglobin is abnormally concentrated inside the red cells, such as in burn patients and hereditary spherocytosis. Liver enzymes are very sensitive and rise for various non serious health issues but they eventually go back down.
Avatar n tn I am not sure of your question. Are you asking where omega 3 and omega 6 foods come from? Omegas 3 / 6 are polyunsaturated oils that help lower cholesterol and help prevent blood platelets from clotting blood vessel walls. The best source is fish especially mackerel, tuna, salmon, and lake trout. Fish should be eaten 2-3 times a week. Omega 3 are found in whole nuts, soy nuts / oil, and canola oil. Recommend 1-2 teaspoons of nuts daily. Hope this answered your question.
Avatar f tn Regarding the Omega 3 supplement ... dog supplements normally have a mix of omega 3 and omega 6 in the correct ratio. The problem with omega 6 is it is harder to absorb and causes some toxins, as the kidneys need to deal with it, but in the right ratio with omega 3, it should be fine. Just make sure you use a canine supplement, free of other additives, and NOT a human supplement.
