Common Questions and Answers about Omega 3 and joint pain

omega-3

Avatar f tn Omega 3 has been proven to both increase brain function and help depression and help joint pain. Cod liver oil will help with this as well and the Vitamin C will destroy all the Free Radicals in your blood stream which would kill off the Omega 3 and Cod liver oils and stop them working. Some people recommend a dose of between 1000mg of EPA with 500mg of DHA in Omega 3 and a dose of 1000mg of Cod liver oil. Vitamin C between 500mg and 1000mg.
Avatar m tn Yes I have joint pain aswell and when i questioned doctor about it I was told it is a part of hep c ...

Avatar f tn m also taking a daily multivitamin, an omega-3 capsule, a vitamin E capsule, and occasionally Aleve or some NSAID to help with my Plantar Fasciitis. My knees have been hurting due to weight gain (went from 230-257 before I recently decided enough was enough) so that's why I started the Omega-3's. Am I ok to continue taking these?

518994 tn?1212242047 I read where Omega 3 was good for your dog. Is it a different Omega 3 or is it the same that humans take?
374933 tn?1291081784 I use Nordic Naturals or Trader Joe's brands and have no problems with them. they are molecularly distilled to remove any heavy metals. If the complex means omega 3-6-9. stay away. Our diets our usually heavy on the omega 6's and low on the omega-3's. Taking Omega 3 is enough to set the balance straight. Omega 3's are a great supplement and can help inflammation, cholesterol, heart disease and in high enough doses- mood.
1655526 tn?1330655629 So im not crazy after all.. I have told doctors and other people that fish and omega 3 bother my arrthymia. Noone believed me but I know what happens and it isnt pretty. Avatar f tn I take one to fight babybrain. Omegas are stripped from myelin shealths during pregnancy and since they act as lubricant in the conduction of, essentially thoughts, our thought process is slowed. I didn't ask my doc about it yet but it does clear up fog in my brain.
Avatar f tn you know, I haven't been taking the Omega 3 since I got pregnant - they make me nauseous. I just take my prenatals daily. I try to eat healthy(doesn't always happen) but i do try. I didnt take any Omega 3 with my other kids and their fine, so oh well.
Avatar f tn I take my prenatal pill one times a day. And It has everything I need But No omega 3 an I heard to take it 2nd or 3rd trimester. Just don't remember what was said.
Avatar m tn I took an Omega-3 supplement for the first time before going to bed last night, and when I woke up one eye was very swollen and puffy. The only allergies I have had are seasonal. Could I be allergic to the Omega-3 supplement?
Avatar f tn t sure why cold weather can cause joint pain but one theory, based on a small study, is that inflamed joints swell as barometric pressure drops and the swelling irritates the nerves around the joints, causing pain. You could try a warm bath with magnesium flakes to help with the pain. Also maybe apply arnica or capsaicin cream to your sore joints.
Avatar f tn Been on Azodyl for at least 8 weeks and we will be checking her levels via bloodwork later this iweek. I would like to know if supplementing with Omega 3 and B vitamins can help the situation. She currently takes a low dosage of Omega 3 for her skin and also takes Cetyl M daily for joint issues. Appreciate any input to help her maintain a better quality of life through this. Thanks.
Avatar n tn Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories such as Rimadyl or Previcox do help with joint pain and work to decrease inflammation which can further help to deteriorate joints. Other medications such as Tramadol work with NSAIDS to help make them even more effective. Nutraceuticals such as glucosamine (which she is already taking) and Omega 3 Fatty acids also help adjunctively.
Avatar n tn I am not sure of your question. Are you asking where omega 3 and omega 6 foods come from? Omegas 3 / 6 are polyunsaturated oils that help lower cholesterol and help prevent blood platelets from clotting blood vessel walls. The best source is fish especially mackerel, tuna, salmon, and lake trout. Fish should be eaten 2-3 times a week. Omega 3 are found in whole nuts, soy nuts / oil, and canola oil. Recommend 1-2 teaspoons of nuts daily. Hope this answered your question.
612551 tn?1450022175 I have started giving my cat a half a 1000mg capsule of fish oil in wet food each day.the cat is having less joint pain(we can tell cause she is moving around more readily) and she is more alert.I don't want to put my cat on the NSAIDS available cause of the danger of ulcers and kidney problems.
773801 tn?1244520679 The doctor will tell you to take prenatal vitamins and DHA which is Omega 3 which promotes healthy brain development and eyes and nervous system. What they fail to tell you that if you are taking these daily that you need to stop taking them at the end of your pregnancy because it prevents you from going into labor. Omega 3 are used to help prevent preterm labor, PMS menstral cramps in non pregnant women and relieve joint and prevent inflammation.
Avatar f tn I too have Ehlers-Danlos (mixed 1 &3) and have the same kind of extreme photosensitivity and facial rash. The dermatologist I went to specifically stated that this was Rosacea and also a side-effect of my skin being more permiable than most peoples because of the connective-tissue disorder. It is considered to act like an Auto-immune disorder but doesn't show up on ANA (mine is always negative when they check).
917167 tn?1330255938 Dennis Embry (CEO/Founder PAXIS institute in AZ) talked about taking an Omega 3 supplement especially as a mental health or substance abuse patient because it has shown to restore dopamine receptors in the brain. Has anyone else heard of this? Does anyone out there swear by them? I have been taking them for roughly two weeks, but of course I wouldn't be feeling better today.....bad bad bad. It's you all on here who are keeping me from cracking under the pain.
1531157 tn?1294211807 My symptoms have been joint and muscle pain, severe fatigue, acid reflux, chronic headaches, chronic back and neck pain, I have endometriosis, Irritable bowel, dry skin, electric shock feeling in legs at night, muscle twitching, depression, weakness, severe fatigue. I currently take synthroid, nexium, celexa, omega 3 and vitamin E. If anyone has symptoms like this or knows if this just might be the hashimotos... or maybe a second auto immune disease...
Avatar n tn My husband has severe dry eyes, and has started taking omega 3 and flax seed oil. It is working very well, but his dose (after gradual increase to a point of benefit) is more than recommended. Can he overdose on 3 times the normal dose of purified omega 3 fish oil..the brand he takes is Health from the Sea PFO pure fish oil liquid. He takes twice the dose of the flax seed oil (same brand name).
