Omega 3 and effexor

Common Questions and Answers about Omega 3 and effexor

omega-3

Avatar m tn My doctor is switching me from Effexor to Lexapro. I was on 150 mg of effexor for 2-3 years and recently have been tapering off down to 50 mg. My doctor says I should start Lexapro now but I am scared to take it while taking Effexor but Effexor withdrawals are bothering me even though I am slowly tapering off. Is it safe to take SNRI (effexor) with SSRI (lexapro)? Anyone took it together?

Avatar f tn I recently have been weaned off of Effexor XR, which I have been on for 5 1/2 years, and have been experiencing abdominal cramping after about 3 days of being totally off the Effexor. Has anyone else experienced this?
1336302 tn?1275685585 Other supplements that can help with the withdrawal is B vitamin complex, Omega-3 (fish oil) and magnesium. Please consult a pharmacist/doctor before using any supplements especially if you have a medical condition.
Avatar m tn I would suggest if you have them or can afford them to take omega 3 oils and even ginko. Vitamins and minerals are helpful in this case as they help put back into your body what you now lack due to the drug. Keeping busy will help. I esp. found anything I could do outside helped the most, just a good brisk walk or anything like planting flowers, working the soil. Having a pet to spend time with, perhaps taking a dog for a walk.
1655526 tn?1330655629 So im not crazy after all.. I have told doctors and other people that fish and omega 3 bother my arrthymia. Noone believed me but I know what happens and it isnt pretty. I stay away from it. I did find an article once that said its good for the heart but people with arrythmias it can make them go into life threating ones.
518994 tn?1212242047 I read where Omega 3 was good for your dog. Is it a different Omega 3 or is it the same that humans take?
Avatar f tn I take one to fight babybrain. Omegas are stripped from myelin shealths during pregnancy and since they act as lubricant in the conduction of, essentially thoughts, our thought process is slowed. I didn't ask my doc about it yet but it does clear up fog in my brain.
Avatar f tn you know, I haven't been taking the Omega 3 since I got pregnant - they make me nauseous. I just take my prenatals daily. I try to eat healthy(doesn't always happen) but i do try. I didnt take any Omega 3 with my other kids and their fine, so oh well.
Avatar f tn I take my prenatal pill one times a day. And It has everything I need But No omega 3 an I heard to take it 2nd or 3rd trimester. Just don't remember what was said.
Avatar m tn I took an Omega-3 supplement for the first time before going to bed last night, and when I woke up one eye was very swollen and puffy. The only allergies I have had are seasonal. Could I be allergic to the Omega-3 supplement?
Avatar m tn The only exception is tramadol which she takes rarely (had three prolapsed discs). She takes omega 3, and glucosamine with chondrotin. My mother had severe clinical depression and severe anxiety disorder and many other adverse health conditions. It all came back to nexium (acid blocker) which lowered her stomach acid.
Avatar f tn Im guessing withdrawals are still to come, but i dont care, i have to stop this medication. I take a potent omega 3 supp daily with a mega B supp and a vit d with calcium supp. Im hoping this is why i feel so ok at the moment. Is it usual for withdrawals to start after 51 hours of stopping Effexor XR??? Yes, we are all different, but last time the w/d's hit me 3 hours of not taking my dose. Thanks for listening.
Avatar n tn I am not sure of your question. Are you asking where omega 3 and omega 6 foods come from? Omegas 3 / 6 are polyunsaturated oils that help lower cholesterol and help prevent blood platelets from clotting blood vessel walls. The best source is fish especially mackerel, tuna, salmon, and lake trout. Fish should be eaten 2-3 times a week. Omega 3 are found in whole nuts, soy nuts / oil, and canola oil. Recommend 1-2 teaspoons of nuts daily. Hope this answered your question.
Avatar f tn I heard that Omega 3 helps with brain zaps. For nausea and dizziness i am taking Gravol pills. You will find more info on http://www.***********.org/effexor.
Avatar n tn It depends on the person. Paxil is an SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) and Effexor is an SNRI (serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor) so they are two different types of anti-depressants and each one works differently on different people. Your doctor would know by asking questions which ones would work the best for you based on how you generally feel.
Avatar m tn So much more positive simply using mega doses of D3 that my naturopath recommended and Omega-3 to calm the brain zaps. Out of the clear blue, I started feeling itchy four days ago. The redness and bumps were everywhere. I could not figure out why I would have the hives because I have not changed my diet, meds (other than reducing Effexor from 150 mg to 18.75mg per day), vitamins, detergent, lotion ... nothing!
Avatar f tn Bottle says take 2 a day, but I would take 4. and then a multivitamin with food.
1544088 tn?1293661019 I was on 112.5 of effexor and I went down to 75, did that for a week, than down to 37.5 for a week, it wasnt to horrible, but now I have gone two days no effexor and it has been hell. Today especially! The electric zaps are way some worse than I imagined, I have massive mood swings for no reason. I got some fish oil omega 3 tablets they have done no good as far as the brain zaps go. I heard benadryl helps. I have tried drinking some childrens liquid benadryl, and its done nothing.
Avatar n tn s Wort to try and alleviate that, as I have read it helps with low mood. I also take Vitamin B complex and Omega 3 supplements. Just my personal belief that supplements can help. I know you tapered off very gradually, but how gradually was that? I suppose we all feel differently when we stop Effexor, so what I experience can be different to what you experience. Withdrawals can last a long time. Perhaps you will gradually feel better - I do hope so.
Avatar n tn My husband has severe dry eyes, and has started taking omega 3 and flax seed oil. It is working very well, but his dose (after gradual increase to a point of benefit) is more than recommended. Can he overdose on 3 times the normal dose of purified omega 3 fish oil..the brand he takes is Health from the Sea PFO pure fish oil liquid. He takes twice the dose of the flax seed oil (same brand name).
Avatar f tn I have read taking Omega Fish Oil help withdraw for Effexor. How? and how does one take it? I also read taking Vit. E and Vit.B12 and something called JD juice?...any suggestions???
Avatar f tn I've been on Effexor XR (300 mg) for about fifteen years and recently decided with my psychiatrist that I would go off it and start Wellbutrin XL. I got on the Wellbutrin (150 mg) and started tapering off the Effexor, and I was surprised at how smoothly it was going. Then I went from 75 mg of the Effexor to nothing, and within two days I felt like I was going to die. I felt nauseous, drunk and hung over at the same time, shaky, dizzy, etc.
822153 tn?1333062995 I just wish sometimes you people would enlighten patients darkness by telling them about natural stuff that helps with depression or even the withdrawals such as OMEGA 3 and AQUAZON dietary supplements. AQUAZON is prepared by Amazon Herb Co. and it hits your happy spot. Also lots of sunlight or a great deal of vitamin D does help to rid a person of depression along with regular exercise.
