Avatar f tn I take one to fight babybrain. Omegas are stripped from myelin shealths during pregnancy and since they act as lubricant in the conduction of, essentially thoughts, our thought process is slowed. I didn't ask my doc about it yet but it does clear up fog in my brain.

Avatar m tn I took an Omega-3 supplement for the first time before going to bed last night, and when I woke up one eye was very swollen and puffy. The only allergies I have had are seasonal. Could I be allergic to the Omega-3 supplement?
Avatar f tn I use a stabalized ground flax seed product to provide about 2/3 of my daily Omega-3 and a high quality fish oil capsule for the final third. The flax adds a pleasant nutty flavor to the small portion of yogurt I mix it with. I use products with (if I remember right) a 6:1 ratio of Omega-3:Omega-6. I get plenty of O-sixes from my diet (they are easy for most of us) but don't eat nearly enough foods rich in O-threes to keep a good ratio going.
Avatar n tn I am not sure of your question. Are you asking where omega 3 and omega 6 foods come from? Omegas 3 / 6 are polyunsaturated oils that help lower cholesterol and help prevent blood platelets from clotting blood vessel walls. The best source is fish especially mackerel, tuna, salmon, and lake trout. Fish should be eaten 2-3 times a week. Omega 3 are found in whole nuts, soy nuts / oil, and canola oil. Recommend 1-2 teaspoons of nuts daily. Hope this answered your question.
Avatar n tn My husband has severe dry eyes, and has started taking omega 3 and flax seed oil. It is working very well, but his dose (after gradual increase to a point of benefit) is more than recommended. Can he overdose on 3 times the normal dose of purified omega 3 fish oil..the brand he takes is Health from the Sea PFO pure fish oil liquid. He takes twice the dose of the flax seed oil (same brand name).

Avatar m tn t just one substance, Omega three are fatty acids just like Omega 6 fatty acids found in oils and meat etc. Omega 3 are EPA, DHA, and ALA . Some experts have said that the balance between Omega 6 fatty acids and Omega 3 is key, but just as many say this is nonsense. Omega 3 do have benefits, mainly reducing inflammation in the body, such as in the arteries or joints. It can also reduce your clotting factor if taken in too high doses, causing excessive bleeding.

403156 tn?1290150018 ALWAYS take the prescription meds. Omega 3 or 6 is awsome for brain boosting and great for the heart too. Been taking it for years. I know it does not control bipolar because I suffered horrible symptoms before my diagnosis when I was taking Omega 3 already. Just got my diagnosis and added in the bipolar meds!

Avatar f tn I am a middle age female with a reaction to Omega supplements which I hope to find a way to avoid since I know that Omega would help me in many ways if I could take it. Avatar m tn I have the opposite effect with omega 3 from krill oil. It makes them tons worse. I take a tsp. of flax seed each day and blend them in a smoothie and that doesn't seem to bother me. What brand of plant based omega 3 do you use? After my bad experiences with krill oil, I'm kind of scared to take anything but whole flax seeds.
