518994 tn?1212242047 I read where Omega 3 was good for your dog. Is it a different Omega 3 or is it the same that humans take?
Avatar f tn I take one to fight babybrain. Omegas are stripped from myelin shealths during pregnancy and since they act as lubricant in the conduction of, essentially thoughts, our thought process is slowed. I didn't ask my doc about it yet but it does clear up fog in my brain.
Avatar f tn you know, I haven't been taking the Omega 3 since I got pregnant - they make me nauseous. I just take my prenatals daily. I try to eat healthy(doesn't always happen) but i do try. I didnt take any Omega 3 with my other kids and their fine, so oh well.
Avatar f tn I take my prenatal pill one times a day. And It has everything I need But No omega 3 an I heard to take it 2nd or 3rd trimester. Just don't remember what was said.
Avatar m tn I took an Omega-3 supplement for the first time before going to bed last night, and when I woke up one eye was very swollen and puffy. The only allergies I have had are seasonal. Could I be allergic to the Omega-3 supplement?
Avatar m tn I became flush all over my body and very much so in my face. My ears were very red and felt very hot and swollen. I don't think that they were swollen but it felt like it to me. I went to the hospital and they gave me some benadryl which I've been taking since. I still have hives over my torso, arms, neck and face. I've also noticed a sensitivity to sound.

Avatar n tn I am not sure of your question. Are you asking where omega 3 and omega 6 foods come from? Omegas 3 / 6 are polyunsaturated oils that help lower cholesterol and help prevent blood platelets from clotting blood vessel walls. The best source is fish especially mackerel, tuna, salmon, and lake trout. Fish should be eaten 2-3 times a week. Omega 3 are found in whole nuts, soy nuts / oil, and canola oil. Recommend 1-2 teaspoons of nuts daily. Hope this answered your question.
Avatar n tn My husband has severe dry eyes, and has started taking omega 3 and flax seed oil. It is working very well, but his dose (after gradual increase to a point of benefit) is more than recommended. Can he overdose on 3 times the normal dose of purified omega 3 fish oil..the brand he takes is Health from the Sea PFO pure fish oil liquid. He takes twice the dose of the flax seed oil (same brand name).
Avatar m tn Higher concentrations of EPA and DHA, the active components in omega-3s, can also be found in LOVAZA — the first and only prescription omega-3 medication. It is important to know that some types of fish may contain mercury and other pollutants from the environment. Therefore, the American Heart Association (AHA) cautions that some people should limit the amount of certain types of fish they eat.
Avatar m tn t just one substance, Omega three are fatty acids just like Omega 6 fatty acids found in oils and meat etc. Omega 3 are EPA, DHA, and ALA . Some experts have said that the balance between Omega 6 fatty acids and Omega 3 is key, but just as many say this is nonsense. Omega 3 do have benefits, mainly reducing inflammation in the body, such as in the arteries or joints. It can also reduce your clotting factor if taken in too high doses, causing excessive bleeding.
317787 tn?1473358451 Hi there! I just found this group and was wondering if anyone had tried Omega 3 supplements. I am trying them now for stiffness in joints, body. I've also read it can help with brain fog or fuzzy thinking.
Avatar m tn This could possibly be a factor. Have his ears checked. He could be suffering from fluid in his ears, which could cause many symptoms. Did anything happen during his trip? Did something set him off? Will he answer you honestly? I have ADD, have had several concussions over the years, and also suffer with Meniere's Disease ( inner ear thing )...I get the worst "jet lag" in the world when I even go over the mountains in a car. Any change in altitude sets me off...
Avatar f tn I have had a total of 4 concussions; my most recent one was in early September. I took the necessary time off and rested and recovered. Lately, I have been experiencing intense headaches, dizziness, inability to concentrate/ feeling spacey, some nausea, and a slight numbness/tingling in my left arm. Sometimes I am even unable to grip things in my left hand. I am wondering if this could be because of my concussions or something else? I would appreciate anyone's input! Thanks!
Avatar n tn When I talked to my doctor about them all she told me was that I should drink coffee every day and eat lots of fiber. I have done both for 3 months now and nothing has changed, any idea as to what is wrong with me or what I should ask my new doctor? I have also had two major concussions in the last 3 years, don't know if that have anything to do with it either.
Avatar f tn My son is 23 years old. He has had four concussions, the last injury (a car accident) required 7 staples in his head. How concerned do I need to be about the longterm effects to his health?
Avatar f tn CTE can be caused by concussions and subconcussive impacts to the brain. What exactly is a subconcussive impact? After getting an elbow to the jaw by my nephew (while 20weks pregnant) I became very anxious about concussions. Either because of hormones or a concussion... my anxiety went into overdrive. To help convince myself it wasn't a big deal, I kept hitting my jaw (like 5 knocks) in that same place with my knuckles throughout the day. Ridiculous I know.
Avatar f tn While it is true that concussions do not always cause seizures they often do. And sometimes the individual can have more than one. We are only beginning to learn about the human brain, let alone about the full scope of concussions' effects on it. It would be nice to see better treatment and tests for concussions. Seeing athletes talk about it is a very good thing. It would be wonderful to see more sports take concussions as seriously as the WWE does.
Avatar n tn My fifteen year old has suffered 3 concussions in 9 months. He has had 3 CT scans in that time. The last concussion was almost two weeks ago. He still has headaches and some fogginess. How worried should we be about long-term damage? When will the headaches go away?
Avatar m tn I have the opposite effect with omega 3 from krill oil. It makes them tons worse. I take a tsp. of flax seed each day and blend them in a smoothie and that doesn't seem to bother me. What brand of plant based omega 3 do you use? After my bad experiences with krill oil, I'm kind of scared to take anything but whole flax seeds.
