Common Questions and Answers about Olanzapine high

I have been on olanzapine for 15 years and has helped me greatly with anxiety, and other mental health conditions. I am 35 years old and have over the past 7 weeks experienced extreme pain in my feet and ankles. I had also over the past 6 months experienced tingling in the feet and legs which I believe is a side effect of long term use off olanzapine. I have been very concerned over the servere pain in my feet as it is all over the foot and can be painful to walk on.
Hi, I was recently prescribed olanzapine for opiate withdrawal. My doctor gave me this so it wouldn't look sketchy on my parent's insurance bill and its not addictive. The things my doctor told me and the things my pharmacist aren't really the same. What can I expect? Can anyone help?
I never looked at drugs like Ibuprophen aka Motrin, the list of side effects which are pretty high if not higher then most drugs out there. A majority of people taking it get heartburn. I should also add that if one person gets a specific side effect they have to report it, even if 999 other participants did not have that symptom, by law they must.
This angers him as he says he can differentiate from his own thoughts and the voices. he has had ect in the passed and recently he has been taken off his olanzapine and lamotrigin and is now just taking mirtazipine. Ziprexa 4117 (olanzapine 10mg) and high doses of haldol (aloperidolo drops) and Ansiolin (diazepam). Plus Akineton (biperiden hydrochloride). Soon I wasn't even able to stand up. ... And among all the other awful effects I experienced abnormal hunger, which along with lack of physical movement, made me put on 10 kilos in a bare month. After three week assumption, I quit Olanzapine. The psychiatrist begins to reduce the drugs doses: this process takes till the end of August.

After stopping olanzapine, my BP was checked and was now high again at 148/110. The doc has added on amlodipine also. I am still on the bupropion xl but now am titrating up on lamotrigine. I've talked to the pdoc about also getting off the bupropion xl as I think the increase in norephinerine is just too much and may be contributing to my high BP, but the pdoc wants to wait until I get up to speed on the lamotrogine and only switch out one med at a time. Thoughts?

I take xanax bars when I'm not pregnant. But pregnant I take low doses of melatonin. Most people use it for sleep but I have a high drug tolerance so I was suggested it by my doc. It works amazing it calms my nerves like my xanax doe. and its all natural and safe during pregnancy. Ask your ob about it.
I saw a psychologist who gave me olanzapine to take and suggested I may be bipolar but I have refused to go back as I do not respect their opinion as they assumsed to think I was either bipolar or normal and did not take into consideration any other disorders. In the last 2 1/2 years I have also dealt with confusion about my sexuality which I have now mainly resolved (I'm straight).
What is the long term effect of this? Also I take Desval along with Olanzapine 0.5 mg. Is this alright for my Bipolar disorder or should I add in an antidepressant. If yes, then which one? Coz Mood stabilizers I guess curb the thinking power, so will the anti depressant boost my thinking ability.
Zyprexa (Olanzapine) is one of the latest antipsychotics. It is what is known as an atypical antipsychotic. It increases levels of serotonin and dopamine. It resembles the antipsychotic Clozapine in its structure and activity. It is not a benzo and has very few side effects (especially for an antipsychotic). One of the side effects is weight gain which is why it is sometimes favored for those with eating disorders.
The Gastro consultant is suggesting that this may be caused by my one++ of my medications (Lithium, Lamotragine, Olanzapine & Citalopram). The Psych says she is unaware of a link. Have any of you on drugs (same or different from mine) been diagnosed with Gastroparesis? It seems that diabetics suffer a lot from it, but I have been unable to find much about it other than a few sites which mention Lithium, but there are no psych articles on the web that make this link.

Hi, I was recently diagnosed with bipolar disorder, but have been on the medication for it since 2009. I experienced a lot of weight gain (40 pounds) on this medication (olanzapine), and it just added to my depression and made me miserable and totally unconfident. Also, although I haven't experienced a full-blown manic episode in a while, my depressive episodes have become harder and harder to cope with.
In the atypical antipsychotics class, Geodon and Abilify are supposed to be weight neutral (olanzapine is an atypical antipsychotic that is known for weight gain). Lithium has some risk of weight gain anyway, but this is not the case for everyone. And even the biggest weight gain culprits don't do it to everyone, but some are worse than others.
I am a 28 year old schizophrenic that has responded very well to a high dose of Niacin (about 2.5g per day). I am currently on 5mg/day of olanzapine as well. I first tried the alternative during a time of great distress (I was losing touch with reality, had a very active mind and consistantly could not sleep). The first thing I noticed was a hot flush that worried me (I injested a high initial dose not aware of the flushing side effect), but I then became quite sleepy and went to bed at once.
It sounds like your anxiety may be a tad high yet. Of course consult with your doctor. I find myself when i am in a high anxiety state, everything is "pronounced" more noticeable. I do biofeedbck...ie: meditation. Bellaruth Narporstak. has a great selection for several Problematic health issues. Check her website out. It may help. also hopefully you are watching your caffine. I also have been trying milk b/4 bedtime to relax me. This is atually working! If iget up in the am.
I took a blood test that showed I had 0.03 mg/L of oxycodone, 0.17 mg/L of symbax in my system. Are those considered high levels - I might add that day I did take my oxycondone as prescribed because of an abcessed tooth. Being on the medications for so long, will a person become use to the effects and not experience drowsiness, mood alterations, or any "high" effects? I just feel normal when I take the medications and if not for the head light would not have been stopped.
This is a paper I wrote, based on my own research, and findings. I strongly believe it to be a factor in my relapse. IR is a PREDICTOR of SVR. This is very important to me and may very well be the reason I failed Hep C treatment... HCV slowly damages the mitochondria through a process of oxidative stress. Aerobic exercise helps produce more mitochondria and a high-protein diet boosts the benefit of exercise, which decreases insulin resistance.
I had been suffering from chronic insomnia and I visited a doctor on the 7th of this month and he put me on Fluoxetine (Prozac) and Olanzapine. I'd like your input on these drugs. For the first few days I felt pretty good. But again from the last 6 or 7 days I have started feeling weird. I am starting to feel the same thing I was feeling before I consulted this doctor. He told me I am suffering from depression and I believe the medication he is giving is for treating depression.
If I remain stable I will withdraw from this gradually in about six months. I take Olanzapine when I am high as that has really good effect for me. I think we are the experts on our condition as have to live with the symptoms. It has taken about ten years but I am now happy with my medication regime. Do not be afraid of disagreeing with the professionals as long as you maintain an honest relationship, Good luck for the future take care.
Would this have any other explanation? Perhaps high amounts of stress and disturbed sleep? On a good night I can only get around 6 hours, and I'm constantly waking up during the night. I'm on meds - 50mg sertraline which I started nearly 2 weeks ago, and 2.5mg of olanzapine for anxiety. Please help, I'm so scared that I'm going mad and will never sleep again!!
I used to smoke like 5 joints a day, combine it with pharmaceuticals like clonazepam, olanzapine and anti depressents. I did lsd, x and shrooms but not that often. maybe once very 2 months. (lsd just tried it once) Now im clean. I quit EVERY drug except for pot. i still think pot is not harmful in small quantities, like one time a week for example just to relax for a while.
By the way, some (blind) medications have been prescribed for me before (such as Zoloft, Clonazepam, Olanzapine, Depakine, etc.) with no clear effect on my problem (at best).
