Oily skin during pregnancy

Common Questions and Answers about Oily skin during pregnancy

skin

Hey girls! Im 38w1d and this morning i woke up and my face is extremely oily :( its not normal for me considering most of the time i am battling dry skin! Is this any sign of labor or maybe just my hormones?
After doing some research, I believe it is an over production and build up of sebum on the scalp. I have had acne problems, have rosacea, and my skin and hair is very oily. I found balancing shampoos on line that are supposed to prevent sebum build up. Aveda is one of them, but I haven't tried it. Sebum: substance with an oily consistency produced by the sebaceous glands. It lubricates hair, is an antifungal/antibacterial, and imparts waterproofing properties to the skin.
Can anyone PLEASE recommend acne products that are safe to use during pregnancy. I had mild acne prior to becoming pregnant but it has esculated to an uncontrollable level now. PLEASE HELP.
I have never had any problems with oily skin or oily hair ever. I wash my hair daily and condition. I have not changed my daily regimen in 2 years One thing I have tried was applied Shower to Shower powder to my hair before going to bed and washed out in the morning (not the sexiest looking thing at night but it helps). It drastically reduced the oil, but came back 2 days later. The only thing I worry about is clogging the glands that are producing the oil, so I don't do it daily...
I am also having this discharge. It began the day I wouldve ended my normal period. In Jan-4 ended. Jan.13. I start on provera for.10.days. Started period on Feb.1 March 6-11 April 6-11 now.may nothing just this brown / tan / discharge began on 11of May. When I urinate this long stringy substance comes out. WEIRD What could it b we r trying 4baby.
I used palmers coco butter a few times a day when I had my daughter. I would grease up so much! don't forget your breasts, hips & thighs. (not just the stomach) I am happy to say that I don't have a single streach mark from that pregnancy. However, I do have naturally oily skin, so maybe it is a bit more elastic. now I am 13 weeks & I'm just using regular coca butter. I started trying with the palmers, but couldnt stand the smell (doesn't smell bad....
I'm sorry you're having such a hard time w/acne. I suffered from severe acne from age 16-19 and it was really difficult. I still get bad breakouts at 25 and, now that I'm pregnant, things aren't any better! I can tell you a few tips that I used back in the day, and that I use now: - Always use a clean towel to pat (don't rub) your face dry after washing. I keep a stack of clean washcloths on the counter just for drying and use a new one every night. - Don't wash more than twice a day.
Does the color of your urine change during pregnancy? Also, does your skin become oily?
Mine is horrible, but I have figured out it gets worse if I use any face wash. So I just splash water and lightly scrub with a towel. I am 32 weeks and it flares up every once in a while, and should go away once all the hormones go back to normal after delivery.
So i was using proactive plus bedore i knew i was pregnant once i found out i stopped. My skin was looking really good now that its been a couple of months my skin is starting to get oily and ugh breakouts... has anybidy used it during pregnancy or any other acne treatment?
( it's my little girl stealing my beauty as my doctor says! Lol. But yes, be EXTREMELY grateful you have no stretch marks. I'm getting ones everywhere :/ which is ridiculous cause I've actually LOST 15 lbs this pregnancy and I'm 29 weeks.
If you were my patient, I would advise you that everybody is different when it comes to acne and pregnancy. For many women, their skin is clearer than ever when they are pregnant. For others acne appears for the first time. I don't recommend using Retin A type products while pregnant, but products that contain Clindamycin or Benzoyl Peroxide ARE OK> Good luck!
Same here my face is horrible I am using nutrogena but its not working that great.
I am 43 and have washed my hair daily for as long I can remember. I have oily skin and hair but never been a problem. Last week I washed my hair as normal, dried it and noticed that my crown looked really greasy and my hair around the crown extremely dull. I presumed I hadnt washed my conditioner out properly but same happened next day.
has any one else had really greasy hair during pregnancy?? i can shampoo my hair twice a day (which ive never had to do before) and it still be oily...its driving me crazy....also I have noticed an increase of body odor....i have changed deodorants about 4 times this WEEK!! has any one else had these crazy symptoms?? i had no clue these were even related to pregnancy until I googled it. lol, please tell me this is somewhat ' normal ' in early pregnancy....
The doc said it was still there so I was not worried. Well now I have horrible acne, oily hair/skin and have gained a ton of weight. I had to buy bigger jeans and now they are too tight too. I have not had my period since I got it. But I am slightly worried I am pregnant. I have gained weight, my feet/ankles are swollen and have grown (I wear an 8 1/2 shoe and have for several years.
I'm sorry you didn't like my answer or find it helpful. You asked for suggestions on what you can use on your skin during pregnancy & I listed what I found to actually work during this time. I only included prices because I hated it when someone would suggest something to me that was over $100.00 & hard to find. once again, sorry my answer didn't give you any idea & left you with more questions. I simply made a list of stuff I found out was safe to use.
hey, i know how you feel. they do say that if you feel like your looks fade during pregnancy it is cause you are having a girl and she is stealing all your beauty....don't know how true it is but makes you wonder huh? lol! do you know what you are having yet? just curoius. good luck and don't worry your beauty will return!
Don't know what is wrong, but do know that benedryl is safe to take during pregnancy. With my first I had hives at the end of my 2nd trimester and took it then. It will make you sleepy but will take away the itch. Someone should see you before monday? It is only Wednesday.
I posted this info before, but it was a reply to someone else's similar post... I am a 23 year old healthy male. I recently had a full physical and the results were that I am in above average health. I have no diseases, do not use drugs, but drink on occasion. Anyways, just started noticing these strange symptoms, within the past few weeks. Nothing "brought it on" so to speak that I can tell of.
(like maybe 2 drinks a day) Also, I have very oily skin and have always used a scrub with salacylic acid and then read that it wasn't safe; is that true? And if so, what do people with oily skin use? does anybody know about bacon? Is it okay if eaten once or twice a week? Can I use a fleets enema if I'm really really constipated? I know these are things I can ask my doctor, but my first ob appt. isn't until the 31st.
Funny, I've had acne my whole life, and my skin always gets better with early pregnancy!! I've not made it past 10 weeks, but it's been that way each time. My OB also recommended the diet canada dry- I guess I'll check again. I really don't want to do anything that could cause another miscarriage. Of course, I'm only having 1-2 per day, so hopefully that's not enough ginger to do anything bad. My sore breasts are driving me crazy. Of course, DH loves it that they are getting bigger!
It looks pretty bad and I have to wear makeup to cover it up, although you can still see the peeling and bumps. My skin everywhere else is combination/oily. It isn't dry at all. I have a little acne but not terrible. What do I do?
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE THINGS YOU MOTHERS EXPERIENCE WITH YOUR BOYS THAT YOU DIDN'T WITH YOUR GIRLS DURING PREGNANCY AND VICE VERSER..IM SO EXCITED TO FIND OUT WHAT IM HAVING BUT I STILL HAVE 6WEEKS TO FIND OUT..I TRIED THE OLD WIVES TALES BUT I WANNA KNOW FROM YOU GUYS..

Its the holiday season and all labs are closed and I dont kwno how to handle this curosity!! Thanks for the usefull comments as they make me feel there are more people out there in my situation.
i had a headache, oily skin, fatigue, lower abdominal pain, yellowish discharge and now im 3 days delayed but im having cramp like premenstrual pain..does anyone tell me what is this?am i pregnant or not?
Hi, How are you? During pregnancy, hormone changes - such as higher levels of androgens, contribute to breakouts. They lead to increase in the production of oily substance or sebum as the sebacious glands are affected. The sebum with skin cells that line the hair follicles blocks the pores leading to increase in bacteria causing inflammation and skin eruptions of acne. Pregnancy can trigger acne or make existing adult acne worse. Avoid taking any medication without consulting your doctor.
Yes my face broke out during the beginning of my pregnancy and my Dave didn't clear up until I was 28-30weeks it was horrible
t think so). anyway, find a better doctor. i know alot about pregnancy from 5 pregnancies and 4 births and i read every book i could get my hands on. good luck....oh and BTW, get a female doc...i had a female with me to deliver my last baby who was 10.8 lbs and they got her out without a stitch or a tear whereas the male docs well, there was lots of sewing going on after each and a long recovery after the births. good luck!
