167426 tn?1254086235 Newswise — A protein that stimulates blood vessel growth worsens ovarian cancer, but its production can be stifled by a tiny bit of RNA wrapped in a fatty nanoparticle, a research team led by scientists at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center reports in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute. "The protein interleukin-8 (IL-8) is a potential therapeutic target in ovarian cancer," said senior author Anil Sood, M.D., professor in the M. D.
Avatar n tn I've done my research and it says its not okay. I think it's okay if you cook it cuz your killing the bacteria but I just stay away from it all together.
148588 tn?1465778809 The Government Accountability Office and rail safety advocates have questioned whether the Federal Railroad Administration is prepared for the inspections and approvals for PTC. Caltrain echoes those concerns. "I think they will be challenged from a resource point of view to get this done, and it seems likely that that is going to be a constraint on all of us," said Karen Antion, a consultant who is directing Caltrain's transition to the system.
Avatar m tn , an FDA drug reviewer in the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, encountered similar intimidation and suppression of safety research. Truthout met with Dr. Kavanagh on several occasions to learn about his FDA whistleblowing experiences.
Avatar m tn I know it does NOT have FDA approval which means it has not proven efficacy enough to get an indication for use in erectile dysfunction or anything else. However, they do have some studies that say it works. Healthline states "Shockwave therapy appears to work best for men with vasculogenic ED, which is a blood vessel disorder that affects blood flow to tissue in the penis. The therapy’s effectiveness with other causes of ED remains to be seen.
Avatar f tn You have a wide range of rhythm issues on your plate. The most complex one being PVCs. I am guessing that the EP will want to address the upper chambers to start so that would be RA and LA ablation, probably done in one procedure if they are good. I don't get a sense of how busy and good they are at Sentara based upon their website information. I am guessing that Duke is a lot more experienced and a better choice.
233488 tn?1310693103 However, it is not as easy as that as the problem with myopia research is funding I think. In general, where there is money available for research, scientists will swoop in and start working. They will abandon an area if funding becomes scarce. Most do not have an emotional connection to the research (sadly) and so will switch fields on a whim. It appears to me that this is exactly what has happened. On that note, I could never abandon diabetes research.
1530342 tn?1405016490 In a report released Tuesday, the National Safety Council, a congressionally chartered independent research agency, asked what would happen if a variety of laws known generally as "graduated driver licensing," or GDL, were fully adopted in all 50 states.
Avatar m tn Following a brief introduction by Margaret Hamburg, Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration, the briefing will provide an overview of the clinical trials, primary efficacy, safety, and complexity of dosing regimens. The briefing will consist of presentations by Debra Birnkrant, M.D, Director, and Jeffery Murray, Deputy Director, Division of Antiviral Products, Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER), followed by an opportunity for questions from call participants.
393685 tn?1425812522 AR - I was on the phone with the MD office twice yesterday - I read through your threads on what to do and I pretty much covered everything except the begging and crying at the offices so far. I guess at this point - I am so overwhelmed my head is spinning - I have gotten so sick with this cold going around I feel I can't even think right now. From what I read - the 9.3 calcium level is normal and no one will really take this serious until I am in the 10.3 range.
Avatar n tn Thanks for your comment. You have helped ease my mind. It scares you to death to read the negative side effects that could happen. 34 healthy young women died and also a lot have had serious neurological/seizure type reactions from this vaccine. I am worried because they did not do a lot of studies before releasing this vaccine.
Avatar f tn I am really considering a water birth. My doctor's office doesn't want to discuss a birth plan until like 36 weeks. My friend has said that there is only one midwife in our area that does the home birth And that she only works with women who start out their pregnancy with her and pay $3400 before 20 weeks. I live in Middle GA does anyone else live in this area and have more info about at home water births?
1503874 tn?1312309466 The technician told me that they will have a demo 3D/4D ultrasound machine in their office next week and invited me to be part of the demo, at no charge. I will be 8w2days on Tuesday which is the demo appointment date. I am pretty exicted about seeing my little bean in 3D. I guess my question is, does anyone know a reason why I shouldn't get this type of ultrasound done this early in the pregnancy? Is it safe? Thanks!!!
Avatar m tn Fatigue management is becoming a growing area of interest and research in Australia mainly due to the mining boom. As it becomes more a topic of interest this can only benefit other workers such police, nurses and other shift workers. That's why I started my blog: http://fatiguemanagementblog.wordpress.com/ so we could share experiences. Would be great to hear from anyone on how they manage their fatigue from varying shifts.
Avatar n tn I have been a pediatric dental assistant for over 8 years. we sedate 3-4 patients a day in our office(between 3 doctors). We use two medications to sedate our little ones. Chloral Hydrate and Vistaril is what we use. Age 1 to 10 years old. These medications are concious sedation meds. They have a very high index of safety because it is done based on a range of weights. Making it hard to over sed. Unless you just don't go by the guidelines.
