Avatar f tn It will help you get to the roots of your addiction and learn the tools to do life clean and not use to solve problems. Give it a try, you may need to hit a few different meetings to find your "home" group and you'll know when you do. You have so much to gain from going. Another option is to get a therapist and preferably one that specializes in addiction.
Avatar f tn One more nice thing about meetings, you can open up and share if you want to, but you can also just listen. There is no pressure to talk or act a certain way.
Avatar m tn I am working the 12 steps. I tried the na meetings before without any bnifits, But i realised i never gave them a chance to even get to know the ppl who attended. Now i look forward to my next meeting Geez i cant beleive it. My last post failure well im happy i wrote that post for im not a failure neither is anyone else who is here fighting for the lifes we trulely deserve to be clean and happy.. Happy laughing seeing the things we were blinded to by drugs.
654183 tn?1225309036 Does it mean that someone is heading for re-lapse if they refuse to go to meetings? He says "I don't relate to them", "All they talk about is how bad their life is", "I can do this by myself", "I stopped taking drugs because I want to, I don't need to talk about it" If anyone has read my posts before, you know my husband is an addict and has been clean from his DOC for 18 days and 8 days off suboxone.
Avatar f tn I've gone to 4 meetings in the last three days, and I don't think they're for me. I love my wine, now and then, and every meeting says alcohol is a drug and to obstain from it. I'm also prescribed xanax and a couple others...taking klonopin to help with w/ds. I REALLY want to stay off the tabs, so, I guess, if I feel the urgent need to take some in the future(went 15 days till Friday), maybe I will go, just to get away from everyone I know because they all use.
7680419 tn?1399056811 I was more afraid of dying and leaving my family alone than anything else by my first meeting. I didn't talk at all at first, could barely hold my head up, but I went to every one available in my county, NA, AA, group meetings, men's meetings, I made recovery a full time job. Some meetings I really disliked, others were amazing. I figured where I fit, who I connected with and trustsd, and I started to share more and more.
Avatar m tn Former FDA Reviewer Speaks Out About Intimidation, Retaliation and Marginalizing of Safety The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is often accused of serving industry at the expense of consumers. But even FDA defenders are shocked by reports this week of an institutionalized FDA spying program on its own scientists, lawmakers, reporters and academics that included an enemies list of "actors" and collaborators.
Avatar f tn the only thing that matters is that your going!!! i was told to go to 90 meetings in the first 90 days, and now im working on 5 years clean. the point of the meetings is that you are building a clean foundation. the onl difference is that AA tend to focus only on alcohol and some meetings frown upon talking about drugs. it seems that you found a good group and they dont seem to mind, the format for the two groups are the same. good luck and stay strong!!!!
Avatar f tn BP is so well connected in Washington that even after being cited for 760 different safety and environmental violations, the company still got environmental waivers for the Deepwater Horizon rig that's now destroying the Gulf.1 But BP's not alone in using its DC influence. Check out the list below of other companies' outrages—then pass it along.
Avatar f tn I don't know if it was a smart move or not but I turned my phone off and plan on changing my number when I turn it back on. At least having everyone that contacts me go through my wife is kind of a safety net. Last time I didn't cut everyone I needed to out of my life. Trying to just focus on her and my kids and forget the rest as best I can.
1999214 tn?1475367159 She could nod off w/ a cigarette burning or one million other horrible situations. As Lesa said, up your meetings and get to some Alanon meetings. You will need to learn how to keep a clear head whether the addict is using or not. As hard as it is, keep the focus on your sobriety and your son's safety. That's where it belongs. Good luck to you.
Avatar n tn I have been a pediatric dental assistant for over 8 years. we sedate 3-4 patients a day in our office(between 3 doctors). We use two medications to sedate our little ones. Chloral Hydrate and Vistaril is what we use. Age 1 to 10 years old. These medications are concious sedation meds. They have a very high index of safety because it is done based on a range of weights. Making it hard to over sed. Unless you just don't go by the guidelines.

2001312 tn?1331135294 I went to several NA meetings laoded. It was part of what got me to make the decision to stop using. My understanding is the only requirement is the desire to stop using. Don't bring any drugs or paraphenalia. take care and stick to your taper.
