Hi Dr. Rockoff, I'm a 39 year old male. I had a fungal infection, most likely Candida, in my groin area (scrotum, penis, & some in inner thighs). I used an over-the-counter medicine, Micatin (Miconazole nitrate 2%), for jock itch. It started to sting and burn my skin, so I stopped using it after just two days. I went to a doctor (not a Dermatologist) and he prescribed a cream, Nystatin (100,000 USP) & Triamcinolone (1 mg).
It has recently been brought to my attention that Triamcinolone is a steriod and can have adverse effects on skin tissue after it was re-prescribed to me in a 30g tube, so I discontinued use. I used it over a 5 month period refilling the 15g tube approximately 4 times after the initial prescription. I have noticed what seems to be thinning and stretch marks after the fact.
This is a steriod used for psorasis or dermatitis. My daughter uses it. It must really burn. Call the pharmacist in your area and find out what to do. Children do not get yeast infections.
if youve been using the nystatin cream, or ointment, and that hasnt worked, i would suggest asking the Dr about Mycostatin. its a mixture of 2 ingredients. nystatin for the fungal part, and triamcinolone for the rashy part. nystatin cream worked well for my dd, so i never tried mycostatin, but its written alot by the pediatrician. good luck!
I went home a saw some peeling from the itching and little red dots all over the head of my penis. I went to see the doctor and he told me it was a fungus. He prescribed nystatin/triamcinolone cream. I put it on twice daily and it helped with the itching. I used it for about 2 weeks and the bumps seem to go away and itching stop, but the tip of penis is now purple. I continued to used the cream for another week because the doctor said to use it I'm really sure that the fungus was gone.
Doctor then prescribed Nystatin and Triamcinolone Acetonide, and says to use for a couple weeks, directly applying to anus area (the orig. problem is not a factor at this point). BUT, just a week ago, I notice that on shaft of penis, near the bottom of shaft (where it connects to body) a quarter-size area of dry skin, with skin actually "peeling" off, lvg red area with a few intense spots. Doctor says to use same cream on that area, the N and TA. Is this psoriasis?
I was wondering, can i keep using Nystatin and triamcinolone acetonide? does it have any dangerous side effects? i have noticed my penis head hurts after i masturbate, could this be due to Nystatin and triamcinolone acetonide? So should i change my lotion, if it didnt help, should i keep using Nystatin and triamcinolone acetonide until i never get it again?
Hi, The combination antibiotic is to be applied to the affected area twice daily for 2 weeks. Do not continue application beyond 2 weeks without having the lesions evaluated by the prescribing doctor. Nystatin and triamcinolone combination ointment is an anifungal medication. It is strictly for external use only and any contact with mucous membranes, such as the eye or mouth, is to be avoided. In the event of accidental contact, wash the area immediately.
I have a tube of topical Nystatin/Triamcinolone cream which at one point was for a yeast infection (never ended up using as it turned out to be something else) and was wondering if this could possibly help as I know the Tri is a steriod? If not then should he see a doctor for an oral steroid, Prednisone maybe? Please let me know as the poor guy is miserable! Thanks!
I have some prescription nystatin and triamcinolone cream and was wondering if it is safe to use on my 18 mo. olds yeast diaper rash?
He prescribed nystatin triamcinolone acetonide and I used it twice a day as instructed. I noticed a small difference of it getting better, but it is not gone. Every once in a while I feel a sharp pain there. What should I do? I am willing to do anything to get rid of this. Should I keep putting the nystatin triamcinolone acetonide on? I would appreciate your input.

Can I use nystatin & triamcinolone oniment or maybe coritisone or should she see our family vet ? I have been keeping this foot covered with a sock, which seems to help so far. 5 months ago, it was a small patch of white with 7-8 tiny pimples which lasted a day until it turned into the shiny patch. When I saw a urologist, he gave me Nystatin and Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream and it worked, but has now come back. There is no itch and no pain. The whole penis is reddish in color sometimes. What could be the problem? Thank you.
Then i visited my doctor who assured me that this is candidiasis and prescribed nystatin with triamcinolone cream which i applied for almost 2 weeks and took fluconozaole tableta for 2 weeks. When i completed the course 2 days I dont have any symptoms but same symptoms came back again after 2 days. And I restarted nystatin+triamcinolone cream for 2 more weeks.
I am pregnant and I have a yeast infection. My ob gyn prescribed me a cream that has nystantin and triamcinolone acetonide. I was reading the patient information leaflet and I got nervous when I read this among the precautions paragraphs: "there are no teratogenic studies with combined nystantin and triamcinolone acetonide. Corticoisteroids are generally teratogenic in laboratory animals when administered systematically at relatively low dosage levels.
i went to the doctors office and she said it really didnt look like an std, she gave me nystatin and triamcinolone acetonide cream. it hasnt let up yet. so i went to the health department and got all the std tests they havent come back yet. but the doctor that looks at all the stds there said she didnt think it was an std either. im just wondering what this could be and how to get rid of it.

I used for few days. finally I use it but I forgot to clean it and I decide to have sex with my wife and she is 4 months pregnant. I have and continue to use the following medications, which control, but do not cure the fungus.Econazole nitrate 1 %, Nystatin and Trimcinolone Acetonide,Tolnaftate 1%, and Triamcinolone Acetonide .
I also have a fugus in my groin area being treated with Nystatin/Triamcinolone cream. The nurse wants me to use the same cream on these marks and to abstain from sex until they are better. She doesn't think they are warts. Maybe yeast infection, but she's not sure. What do you think these are?
He agreed with the initial diagnosis and prescribed a slightly different cream—Nystatin Triamcinolone—and since I was concerned that it might be Herpes he also prescribed a generic version of Valtrex to take three times a day for 10 days. I used the cream and took the medicine. It cleared up in roughly four days and hasn't returned since, although I feel like something is coming back on my scrotum and have begun using the Nystatin Triamcinolone cream, but have only done so twice.
It cleared up in roughly four days and hasn't returned since, although I feel like something is coming back on my scrotum and have begun using the Nystatin Triamcinolone cream, but have only done so twice. Since I was concerned that it could be Herpes, I am returning for a second blood test in a week and a half. He suggested waiting for one month from my third visit in order to allow time for antibodies to build up in the blood. My questions are...
so i called pharmacist and asked if nystatin and triamcinolone acetonide cream was ok to use and the pharmacist said yes.. so i used it for about three weeks and it still the same. what should i do? thank you. cloud2007 This discussion is related to Belly Button Fungus?.
I had a reoccurring fungal infection on the tip of my penis that I believe has been cured through oral fluconazole. Part of the treatment was Nystatin/Triamcinolone. For a time I also used Ciplopirox but it made the skin very waxy looking so I stopped that treatment. Now the underside of the Penis is pink in color and sex/rubbing in my underwear aggravates the condition, causing it to burn for a short period and get more red in color.
I finally, after realizing the same thing u have, went from doctor to doctor until i found one who prescribed a low-dose cream called nystatin and triamcinolone acetopide. i use it twice a week and she has been free for about four months now. maybe its not the prescription but the doctor.
I have been tested for STDs and all of the tests came back negative. I have seen an urologist and was prescribed an ointment nystatin and triamcinolone. It seems to work when I apply it but as soon as I stop the symptoms come back. I have seen this doctor several times telling him that the medication suppress the symptoms but is not curing the problem and have asked him what it is and his response is that it is a fungus and to continue to apply the ointment.
