Common Questions and Answers about Nuvaring skip period

nuvaring

Avatar f tn Hi board! I had a question for you! I just finished my 3rd month of using the NuvaRing. I recently switched from Yaz that I had been on for years. My question is that my "period" came on the day is usually does (4th day after I take out the ring), and my "period" this time is all very light, brownish discharge! Only a couple of times have I seen a hint of red in the discarge!
Avatar n tn Hi! I am currently on the NuvaRing and my doctor has me on it continually (so I can skip my period) every month. Problem is I've had breakthrough bleeding for the last 2 weeks. I've read this is normal, but can it really last up to 12 weeks? AND if tomorrow I am supposed to change it out, can I just take it out and get my period/cycle back to where it used to be where I'll get my period and then it will stop by next week?
Avatar f tn two weeks in, one week out, with my period occurring during the no-ring week. However, I’d really like to delay or totally skip my next period (I’ll try not to be vulgar, but it occurs during the only visit I’ll have with my boyfriend during 6 months temporarily living on different continents). Would it be safe for me to keep my ring in during this time? If so, do I just take the old ring out and put a new one in once the week I normally have no ring in is over?
Avatar f tn Hi there. I am on NuvaRing, started around the beginning of March. I decided to skip my last period, which was great, and I decided if the insurance lets me get it every three weeks I might skip my periods all the time or at least pretty frequently. Then I started wondering, is there any downside to it at all? Like does anything build up in your uterus that needs to come out? Just curious, thanks.
Avatar m tn I put in a new ring on the 21 day to skip period and it’s super heavy clotted brown discharge. Should I take the ring out , which I feel would be a waste, or should I keep it in and just hope the discharge will stop?
Avatar f tn I have been on the Nuva ring for about 4 months now, And I skipped my period for about two months because when i would have gotten my period I had a special occation going on and didn't want to have to deal with the hassle of my period. But on my boyfriends birthday weekend him and I had sex about three times and at the time I am having random spotting. Could I be preggo? Or i am thinking about taking out my ring for a week or two and seeing if anything is changing. Advice please. Thank you!
Avatar f tn I was on the NuvaRing for 3 months straight and used it to skip my cycle. After the 3rd or 4th week I would take it out & put in a new ring. While doing this I still bled either light or really heavy. I stopped using the NuvaRing the week before Thanksgiving. My husband & I started trying to make a baby soon after taking the ring out. I have not had a cycle since i’ve taken the NuvaRing out and it’s going on a month now.
Avatar f tn I have been on the NuvaRing for over 5 years and for the most part I have enjoyed it; the light periods, the ease, the minor cramps and steady and minimal mood swings. However, I have been having issues with bleeding during sex for the past 2 years on and off. I was diagnosed with HPV at least 5 years ago and occasionally have abnormal pap smears but for the most part have no pain or issues with it and have been with the same partner for 3.5 years.
889551 tn?1416184483 Lexi is nine months old now, and I quit birth control three or four months ago because I tried the NuvaRing and hated it (my cervix was really low when I put it in, and it made it uncomfortable). This month I had spotting at ovulation, and I didn't think anything of it until DH told me that the condom had broke two days before the spotting started. At 8 dpo I started spotting and have been spotting brown and red ever since.
Avatar f tn If you would like to skip a period for the month, you just put a new ring in after taking the old one out after 3 weeks instead of waiting a week. It doesn't normally fall out and it's easy to check and see if it's still there, it's similar to putting in a tampon, except you have to use your fingers, you fold it in half (squeeze 2 sides together) and insert it, it's not uncomfortable, and the guy can't feel it either.
Avatar m tn You started Nuvaring, it can take a few days for your period to start especially when your on yo ur first mornth of Nuvaring. It takes 3 months for your body to regulate hormones. Now if you had unprotected sex within the first week of being on nuvaring (if you hadn't been on another birth control method before) then it's possible to get pregnant. I was on Nuvaring for 3 months and had no issues with it.
Avatar f tn I had sex while i wasn’t on the NuvaRing but he said he pulled out. I put the NuvaRing in the week I usually get my period so i know I’d go a month without my period. i’m having cramps like period cramps now. Could that be signs of a pregnancy or is that okay?
Avatar n tn i have had intermittent menstrual irregularities (sometimes skip a month sometimes 2 times in one month) for over a year now usually related to my hectic studying schedule and stress. ive been treated for pco over a year ago with diane 35, metformin, and atkins based weight loss, recent ultrasounds are clear. to spur my period i ate a large helping of papaya to cause uterine contractions and it worked within a few hours.
Avatar n tn I normally have this type of blood at the beginning of my period. I experienced this while the nuvaring was still in, but thought it was just breakthrough bleeding. I went home on break and checked my calendar and realized i should have taken the nuvaring out the day before. I took the ring i had in out, and went back to work for four hours until i could pick up my new nuvaring at the pharmacy after work.
Avatar f tn Ive been on the NuvaRing since my 6 week check up(about 20 months). Well this is the second time ive taken my ring out on time and i have a brown period with decent sized clots. Im having normal cramps and back pain but there is very little red blood. is this normal?
Avatar n tn I started the NuvaRing for the first time, I inserted 18 days after the start of my period ( or 15 days after the end of my period) and it has been in for 12 days consecutively. I had unprotected sex on the 12th day of having the NuvaRing in, at this point is it an effective form of birth control ?
Avatar f tn i miscarried at 8 weeks with blighted ovum and after that devestation i used nuvaring again and this time faithfully.......i took out my nuvaring and didnt think much of it until the next day when i started throwing up everywhere! i bought a test for the hell of it and it said PREGNANT! i was in complete shock because i had been on the nuvaring for a while! i used at end of JULY, AUGUST, SEPTEMBER and found out i was pregnant in october!!!
Avatar f tn Hi there, So I hope someone knows more about this. I'm on the NuvaRing and as it is quite a new thing, my doctor doesn't know it, I find that the instruction booklet and the website both give only very basic information about how it works and it doesn't help me at all when something unusual occurs.
Avatar f tn Hi! I'm 20 years old and I just had my period March 30-April 2. This has been my first period in awhile because I have been using Nuvaring and skipping my periods. I didn't put in my nuvaring on the day I was suppose to. I have had unprotected sex on the 6 day before ovulation and 4 days before ovulation. What are my chances of getting pregnant? I'm not going to put my nuvaring in just in case I am. It is too early to take a test so I come here for some answers.

Avatar m tn Nuvaring takes a month to be fully effective in your body, and you should have used back up birth control the entire time. Your odds are roughly the same as any other couple trying to concieve. Take a pregnancy test with first morning urine.
Avatar f tn Well I started the Nuvaring on the 17th of February... the first day of my period which is what the doctor told me to do. Its now the 8th of March and Im still bleeding. Very lightly, but its enough to have me wear a liner every single day. Last night I woke up feeling extremely sick. Today, this morning, I started vomiting. Could I be pregnant? Is there a chance? Its so confusing because there have been so many women who have gotten pregnant while using a birth control contraceptive.
