Nuvaring and depression

Common Questions and Answers about Nuvaring and depression

nuvaring

I rushed to the midwife and she said there was no infection, and confirmed that I'm allergic to the actual NuvaRing. Just my luck! And there isn't anything she can give me to make the swelling go down, so I've had the pleasure of sitting on an ice pack. When I say swollen, I mean my area looks as though I just gave birth to a ten pounder. LOL. She wouldn't write me a script for a different birth control because at the present time, my blood pressure is 150/100.
Hello, Nervousness and depression are side effects of Nuva ring. It can be due to post partum depression also for which you should get it evaluated from your gynecologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Hi: I so understand your depression. I went through this for a YEAR AND A HALF :( This was after some surgery and a lot of antibiotics. My doctor was very patient and basically sat me down and said that BV can be very difficult to treat. Bacteria does not respond to every antibiotic, you have to find the RIGHT one. Just like with UTI's. I've taken two weeks worth of stuff only for it to still be there in the end and have to change to something else.
Are you sure you were supposed to start Nuvaring on the first day of your period? I ask because Im on Nuvaring and was directed to put it in the Sunday AFTER the first day of my period. Then leave it in for 3 weeks and take it out on Sunday and leave it out until the following Sunday.
I was surprised at the diagnosis but relieved to find out that there was a known medical term for my symptoms. I have very bad depression and panic attacks and I've had them for 18 years now. Does anyone know if there is a link between PCOS and clinical depression? Also, is there anyone else out there with Hashimoto's thyroiditis along with PCOS. I'm going crazy with depression, hirsuitism, pelvic pain, panic attacks, excess weight, slight acne, oily skin, fatigue, etc.
Now it's been over three weeks since the removal of the nuvaring/cycle disruption, and I can't shake the depression. I try to ignore it, but I feel SO hopeless. I don't care about anything, no motivation. Family... I've had family in town and I can barely get myself out of bed to visit them and pretend like I care to be there. Same with work, which says something because honestly I love my job. I'm also sleeping ridiculous amounts.
I have a 20 year old, 4 months on the pill, experiencing constant anxiety and depression with anger and bouts of crying over small things. I am helping her find alternatives. It has been very helpful to read all postings here as I was not aware of such serious side effects and was not sure what was going on with her. Depression and the pill are obviously not researched at all.
Recently I have only been on Nuvaring nothing else and started to get tremors in hands and feet, I took it out a week after when I realized these symptoms were only getting worse even after quitting coffee and other stimulants so I took out my Nuvaring and the trmors have started to subside. I was on it for a year and everything was great before this so its just an example of how it can be something you would never think of because youve had no problems with it.
Some women find that the ring causes vaginal irritation, vaginal odor, more frequent vaginal imbalances or infections, and other vaginal or vulval effects. And like most methods of hormonal contraception with estrogen, it is not advised for women who smoke, are over 35, are breastfeeding, diabetic, have a history of high blood pressure, cardiovascular disorders or high cholesterol.
I was on Nuvaring, and for about a week the abdominal pain went away, but then it came back. and with avengance. I had a few days where it hurt to stand up, but once I did it would loosen up a bit. The pain gets extremely bad when I get my period or am ovulating, hence why he think it might be connected to a stroke and the pituatary gland (linked to hormonal changes). Thank you for your prompt reply.
Maybe you'd like the Nuvaring, you get your period and insert it for 3wks, remove and repeat the process! Very easy, and not noticeable during sex. It helped me until I was ready to get pregnant. After babies born I'm going back on it!
I took Yaz for over a year and just recently stopped. I experienced sever depression which got worse and worse each month. I didn't notice it at first because it happened so gradually. I also had a lot of things going on in my life at the time (studying for the bar exam, starting a new job etc) so i was contributing my moodiness to stress. But after the things in my life calmed down i noticed the depression and moodiness were still there and getting worse and worse.
I am 21 years old and have had very similar problems. I was on the birth control nuvaring for about 2 years and in the second year started having very bad cramping and small cysts in my ovaries, as well as continuously gaining weight without changing my diet or exercise. I had always been pretty thin, and ate extremely healthy (my mother is a dietitian). I went to the gyno who told me the best cure was to be on non-stop birth control.
I found out about a week ago that I am pregnant. I am on Lexapro and Klonopin for depression and an anxiety disorder. I was taking 1 mg. of klonopin daily for about five years and my doc. told me to come off of it. I came off too quickly and completely crashed. Hardcore depression, hoplessness, horrible panic. He put me back on .75 mg and we are going to try and come off of it slowly. I am worried coming off of it will cause another crash, and it seems to consume me.
I have been having insomnia, depression, mood swings, no energy during day.Dr has me on nuvaring & says I should'nt be having signs of menopause. Has anyone else had this?
Does anyone know of any natural remedies for endometriosis? I'm almost afraid to take out the Nuvaring, despite the weight gain and depression, because I don't want to deal with the pain during my cycle. Any advice???
Please go for a CT scan and MRI of the brain and consult your eye doctor and neurologist if the symptoms persist. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!
For the last 6 months I have been getting tearing (look like paper cuts) in my vaginal area (1/4 to 1/2 inch long). I get the tears at least once or twice a week and they last from 2-4 days, go away for a few days and then come back. They continue to occur in the same locations; 1. Inside the vaginal lips on the sides almost always in the crease (between the labia minora and majora?) 2. Between the anus and vaginal opening (perineum) 3. Above the clitoris in the "hood" area.
I'm a 31 year old female weighing 198 lbs. I use the NuvaRing for birth control, and I take a multi-vitamin daily. I have low B12, and I'm on weekly B12 injections. This was diagnosed back in Sept. 2010 with a level of 203. In Dec. it had gone up to 408. At the end of Jan. 2011, I had a lot of life complexities that prevented me from getting my B12 shots (sick husband, driving kids, etc.). I started back on my shots 4 weeks ago.
Had mirena until january had some issues with it all of a sudden after being on it a year and a half, I was on nexplanon for a month and it made my depression really bad so got off that immediatly, now the nuva ring. I was on the nuvaring for 6 years be4 I had my daughter I dont remember feeling this horrible. So im assuiming im either pregnant or going to have one hell of a period :( blah!! sunbite2000 From what ive read you get your fertility back immediatly after stopping implant.
The majority of my upper arms and back are literally covered and my chest and stomach have quite a few. Some are all red bumps while others have a tiny white spot in the center of the red mark; none of these come out. I also had some hard large ones on my face and neck which would not come out. I made the mistake of going back on Estratest vs Estradiol at the same time. This makes a direct correlation between meds and side effects difficult for me.
2) When you are putting the NuvaRing in, you pinch the ring and insert it into your vagina and push it all the way back. It will rest at the very top of the vaginal canal, essentially circling your cervix. There is a "ledge," of sorts, at the top of the vaginal canal on the back side, which the ring will fall back into, holding it in place. I didn't know how it stayed in myself until I tried it.
My hormones must be completely out of whack because I've been having mood swings, hungry all the time despite just eating a big dinner, headaches, bouts of random depression, full blown acne breakouts, and pain in my right ovary. It's strange that it's only the right side and it can be rather painful. I think I have cysts either rupturing or forming. What's also really unusual is that I generally breakout when I'm getting close to AF, like days away...I'm not even close to getting it.
I tried to stick it out with the seasonique but I just recently got so fed up with the depression and symptoms I stopped taking it all together. I had NO sex drive on seasonique and now I have a healthy one again but I want to find a birth control that does not take away my sex drive or make me depressed. I was thinking maybe ortho tri cylcen low. Any suggestions? Does anyone actually like the bc they are on??? PLEASE help!! thanks!
hi everyone , i read all your comments, same with me here,my last LMP was march 6 ,now is april 22 and no AF YET, i used HPT a hundred times but its always negative, drives me crazy , i actually test this morning and its really negative, i was crying dont know what to do,i think iam having depression cant sleep, pls is anyone of you ladies expiriencing this???
After a few months I started experiencing burning after sex and pain during sex. I went to the gyno and got tested for all the STDs and was totally fine. I stopped having sex for awhile and then we started again about 2 months ago being really careful. Everything was getting better, but then last Monday we had sex twice in a row and it really hurt the second time and has been hurting since. It's a constant stinging and itching and intense irritation that won't go away.
it also happends during and after intercourse. I have been tested for STD's and everything was all negative I have even had an ultrasound done and nothing. I am waiting to get a pap done. Anyways I am sooo frusterated and have been reading alot about cervical cancer so now I am scared that I might be having symptoms of cervical cancer. But I am also thinking it may just be the endometriosis or that other thing. I did have Human Papiloma Virus years ago...no problems for about 9 years now.
You should ask your doctor if your medications could affect the birth control, but I assume that the dr already knew you were taking them before you were prescribed the birth control. Even if you take the pill correctly, don't skip a day, and take it at the same time every day you can still get pregnant if you're having unprotected sex. It's really hit or miss. The pill is not fool proof and it's not 100% effective. If you miss a period test.
