1 and was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes on Feb. 5th. I have an ultra touch 2 monitor for her. I did notice that they have a software for it in which I can download and monitor her levels, etc. I also have noticed that there is a diabetes pilot software in which I can get for my desktop and pda. I like the fact that the diabetes pilot has a list of foods (carbs, etc.) that you can enter for reference and can be used on my pda.
t have much to compare this software two. But my guess is that there is a big difference between the better software and what comes free with some operating systems. The exception being the voice recognition software built into Vista. Supposedly, that's quite excellent. That said, there is a learning curve.
The dictation part is pretty easy. Harder, is learning the commands, such as going back to insert or delete a word, or moving around the webpage.
5T machines are gaining on the 3T by virtue of better software. If the center is keeping up with the new technology, you may be losing little or nothing at all by get imaged on a 1.5T.
Don't lose any sleep over it. I'm trying to decrease the emphasis (that I created) over worrying whether we get MRIs on a 3T machine.
Phil, we have also discussed how sophisticated software can raise the resolution of a machine, say a 1.5T, to surpass the resolution of a 3T with mediocre software. I have never felt that the public could be in any position to evaluate the level of software used. So, I have some questions for you.
The first, is do you agree that the quality of the software does play a role?

The facility I have had 2 MRIs done uses a Toshiba MRI and was today told they use "EMPOWER" software. Have read that 'good' software with a 1.5 T is as good as, or better than a 3T with poor software.
Wondering if anyone knows about the quality of Toshiba and Empower?

KeeLolo, MedHelp's software automatically deletes some words, people don't write stars, when you see them it is because the software did it. And if it did it, that is because it is a word sometimes used in salacious Internet writing, presumably this word was c u m, which the software is deleting because of its use in porno sites. Any time you see the stars, assume it's something like that and you should be able to read what the original poster was writing pretty well.
I do feel losing 15 kg in 3 months is unrealistic if you plan to do this healthily. I've lost 15 kg but it has taken me 12 months. However, it hasn't been an onerous task, whereas diets I've done in the past have been.
This time, I changed my life style as well as my eating habits. I haven't cut out chocolate altogether, and I cut it down gradually (which is why it's taken 12 months). I found that the craving for it dissolved over time, and now I rarely eat it.

On the computer, I use Dragon NaturallySpeaking professional edition. I think it's Professional Edition but the enhanced edition maybe. In fact, I'm using it right now and today it seems to be listening okay. I've only gone back to make one or two corrections so far.

You're not going to beat this without primarily some self-discipline, which comes from a determination to make yourself stop.
You could get some parental control software on your computer, to block access to porn sites. First you need to know that the results of the MRI are only as good as the software that runs them. A 1.5T done at one facility may be inferior or superior to a 1.5T at another facility. Perhaps you could ask this question to your neuro..his preference and experience with both facilities.
Generally the open MRIs are not as good as picking up the lesions but I 'm not sure since the 3T is thrown into the mix.

To keep my mind off of Diabetes, especially like today when my Insulin Pump QuickSet didn't go in as ouchless as advertised, I am a electronic gadget/computer geek. Always on the lookout for something that's fun. I was like this before being diagnosed, so at least one thing in my life hasn't been changed even though everything else seems to have.
