Avatar f tn EAS makes a great pre- made low carb protein shake, Walmart carries it. I normally eat about 1500 calories. Here is my daily diet: 2 eggs and I piece of whole wheat or rye bread with 1 tbsp all natural peanut butter snack: low carb protein shake and Fiber Plus brand fiber bar lunch: flavored tuna, chicken with salad, or sandwhich with some kind of meat, 1 piece of fruit (apple or serving of grapes), and 2 little pieces of candy, normally some kind of Reese's!
325405 tn?1262290178 You guys are going to think I'm nuts, well, maybe a little but it's going on midnight and I can't sleep. Okay, I got this suggestion about dieting, which was switch to sprouted grain bread. It has a lower GI number (better for diabetics) and is healthier. So, I managed to find this Bread For Life brand Ezekiel 5-some number, and it's all about this living bread, sprouted grains having enough water added to them to make them start to sprout.
703362 tn?1427766328 I voted all of the above, asuuming that the rice is brown and that we are keeping the skins on the taters! I love dried beans. Cheaper and easier to get into my 3rd floor apartment than cans. Bananas have a lot of calories, but I like to use 1/2 on my cereal and also like making banana bread out of the old ones. I found this stuff in the baking aisle called "ligher bake" (or something like that) that I use in place of oil. It comes out better than substituting applecause.
Avatar f tn If you are still using white bread try switching to wheat, spelt, rye bread etc.
144210 tn?1273088782 So.....if you are not supposed to eat white bread, white Pasta's etc and you can't eat whole wheat then what the hell are you supposed to eat. We can go on a Atkins type diet but it is high in saturated fats which some people say is bad for the Liver also. Most of us cannot live on just vegetables and fruit alone. I realy think that this probably applies to a small subset of people and not to most of us with hep c.
1661682 tn?1313135396 Remember when it comes to carbs it is all about the whole grains...
Avatar f tn Whole wheat bread is wheat that is not milled as much so it contains the wheat fibers (that is why it is darker in color) as opposed to white bread. Soft wheat does not have much fiber as whole wheat bread. Multi-grain and whole grain breads have added grains/seeds, such as oatmeal, and sesame seeds. The label will list the additional 'grains'.
284738 tn?1283106819 To answer your question, the difference between the two breads is how your blood sugar reacts. Whole wheat bread will NOT cause a spike in your blood sugar. White bread is like eating a piece of cake. It is NOT good for you. This is probably one of the biggest gifts you can give to your family - start them young on nothing except whole wheat bread. They will never know the difference, but the fiber in the whole wheat bread is so much healthier for you.
Avatar f tn The turtle may eat the chocolate but it has no nutritional value. So whether he eats chocolate or nothing, he can still starve to death. Just like feeding bread to ducks. Not good. You didn't mention what type of turtle you had or how old it is. The chocolate has to stop. And if need be, take him to a vet for supplemental feedings until his digestive track is back to normal and he's on normal food again.
Avatar f tn Harvard Medical School-- So eating whole wheat is not necessarily doing much for diabetes, but I guess the other changes he implemented, made the difference you mentioned. Now the question is, since he has a metabolic dysfunction, did the continued consumption of carbs lead to candida(a yeast overgrowth infection), did he have it before and if he did it perhaps predispose him to a parasitic infection?
Avatar f tn t eat white bread (or whole wheat or rye, which all contain some white flour as well).
579258 tn?1250649343 I have also made whole wheat pizza dough and whole wheat cinnamon raisin bread in it. My kids love that machine and are always wondering what might be in it today. ; ) The best part is that I can adjust all of the ingredients to be as healthful as possible. I can pick the oil, the type of sweetener, etc., so I know exactly what is going into the bread and the price is awesome. I also discovered this really cool lady on Youtube....you have to look her up for some great ideas.
Avatar f tn This includes starches like potatoes. Think about switching to breads made with whole grains, like wheat breads using whole wheat flour, not those using enriched flour. Enriched means they remove all the beneficial nutrients and replace them with junk to make the product taste good. This is where diabetes trained nutritionists and dietitians are beneficial.
Avatar m tn Supplements to help you gain weight can be more expensive than the equivalent macronutrients found in whole foods. Relying on nutritional supplements and not whole foods could deny you vital nutrients the supplements lack. Weight-gain supplements might contain impurities that could harm your health. With a high metabolism, nutrition by itself can add pounds to your body but might not result in the body composition you would like unless you do a strength-training program also.
Avatar n tn During the week it has been a whole-wheat (100% whole grain) bagel for breakfast, peanut-butter+bread for lunch, a bananna later in the day and at night I typically have a large bowl of oatmeal (rolled 5minute non-fortified oats). During the weekend it has been a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast and lunch and typically beans for dinner. As gross as this might sound, I do occasionally add some mustard greens and/or salsa which I to the dinner-oatmeal or the beans.
Avatar f tn Whole wheat Bread, shredded wheat cereal, fiber is chewy stuff
8867510 tn?1400309344 When saying starchy carbs above I mean you should not eat even whole wheat pasta or whole wheat crackers. You can eat legumes but keep it to just half a cup a meal. If you excersise as well you will look great in a 2 week period. After the 2 weeks just continue to eat healthy - whole grain bread, fruits etc. There you go girl. Hope it was helpful. I have been on this diet and it does miracles.
Avatar f tn That's a starvation diet that has no nutritional value whatsoever. It makes no sense and I'd never condone it.
535822 tn?1443976780 yup I pefer a 'proper' whole wheat or grain bread spread with butter ....
Avatar n tn You need to get calories from nutritious foods! Add small meals or large snacks in-between breakfast, lunch and dinner. Eat appetizers and desserts, too, when you can. Don't fill up on liquids, especially those with few or no calories. Drink after you've eaten. Drink 100 percent fruit juice, which offers calories and nutritional value, rather than sugary sodas or sports drinks. Replace a serving or two of whole fruit with fruit juice, as it contains many more calories.
