Common Questions and Answers about Nutritional value wheat bread

nutrition

Avatar f tn I was wondering at what to put the nutritional value of food over the amount of calories they contain. For example, I regulate my calories fairly closely and usually am always well under the daily recommended amount, but there are some days that I feel like I am hungry all day. As a general rule, I enjoy eating raw mixed nuts as a snack, but they tend to be high in calories.
325405 tn?1262290178 You guys are going to think I'm nuts, well, maybe a little but it's going on midnight and I can't sleep. Okay, I got this suggestion about dieting, which was switch to sprouted grain bread. It has a lower GI number (better for diabetics) and is healthier. So, I managed to find this Bread For Life brand Ezekiel 5-some number, and it's all about this living bread, sprouted grains having enough water added to them to make them start to sprout.
703362 tn?1427766328 Here's a really short nutritional poll for everyone to give a try.....post your selection and I will come back this evening with the answer....Let's see how everyone does! What do potatoes, bananas, carrots, rice, whole-wheat flour, and dried beans have in common?
Avatar f tn If you are still using white bread try switching to wheat, spelt, rye bread etc.
Avatar f tn The turtle may eat the chocolate but it has no nutritional value. So whether he eats chocolate or nothing, he can still starve to death. Just like feeding bread to ducks. Not good. You didn't mention what type of turtle you had or how old it is. The chocolate has to stop. And if need be, take him to a vet for supplemental feedings until his digestive track is back to normal and he's on normal food again.
Avatar f tn That's a starvation diet that has no nutritional value whatsoever. It makes no sense and I'd never condone it.

Avatar f tn Where did you get the idea that wheat is bad for hyperthyroidism? White flour is made of wheat, white bread is made of white flour, therefore if you think wheat is bad for you, you won't eat white bread (or whole wheat or rye, which all contain some white flour as well).
Avatar f tn Whole wheat bread is wheat that is not milled as much so it contains the wheat fibers (that is why it is darker in color) as opposed to white bread. Soft wheat does not have much fiber as whole wheat bread. Multi-grain and whole grain breads have added grains/seeds, such as oatmeal, and sesame seeds. The label will list the additional 'grains'.
284738 tn?1283106819 BIG difference - as long as the first ingredient in your "wheat" bread does NOT say "enriched" anything !!! You are wasting your money if it is enriched "wheat" flour. To answer your question, the difference between the two breads is how your blood sugar reacts. Whole wheat bread will NOT cause a spike in your blood sugar. White bread is like eating a piece of cake. It is NOT good for you.
579258 tn?1250649343 I have also made whole wheat pizza dough and whole wheat cinnamon raisin bread in it. My kids love that machine and are always wondering what might be in it today. ; ) The best part is that I can adjust all of the ingredients to be as healthful as possible. I can pick the oil, the type of sweetener, etc., so I know exactly what is going into the bread and the price is awesome. I also discovered this really cool lady on Youtube....you have to look her up for some great ideas.
Avatar f tn Harvard Medical School-- So eating whole wheat is not necessarily doing much for diabetes, but I guess the other changes he implemented, made the difference you mentioned. Now the question is, since he has a metabolic dysfunction, did the continued consumption of carbs lead to candida(a yeast overgrowth infection), did he have it before and if he did it perhaps predispose him to a parasitic infection?
Avatar f tn i was newly diagnosed 4 months ago- i'm taking glimeperide 1 mg and pravastatin 40 mg each once a day. my numbers are between low 80's and 120's. my big concern is my weight i was 161lbs 5ft 6 but i lost 40 lbs over the last year--last i got on the scale i was 117.5lbs the dr was new so he doesn't notice the weight loss although i get on the scale every visit ( only 3 ) my a1c was 5.8 and he said we'll do labs in a year?
Avatar n tn Gluten free or paleo diet I have found effective. No wheat or white bread, rice, potato. Hardy nuts and seeds will lower blood sugar numbers. Working on alternative receipies.
2206935 tn?1373638605 Hello there, Some people can be allergic to the gluten in bread products. You can also be allergic to wheat. What kind of bread do you eat ? How much bread do you eat ? A friend of mine is allergic to guten. Gluten is in many kinds of food including bread. Her allergy to gluten was discovered through a blood test. She no longer eats any products with gluten. There is a really interesting book written by David Permutter MD called " Grain Brain".
Avatar n tn Juice covers a lot -- virtually anything can be juiced if you're doing this yourself. Fruit juices contain a lot of sugar, but can also be powerful antioxidants, but vegetable juices can be very valuable. Wheatgrass juice is great. So this depends on what you mean by nutritional juices. Most important, avoid anything that's not organic. When you juice anything, you use a lot of it, and that enhances the amount of harmful chemicals that exist on whatever you're juicing.
Avatar f tn Eggs are protein, wheat bread will make you feel full longer. Peanut butter with carrots or bananas yumm.
Avatar n tn During the week it has been a whole-wheat (100% whole grain) bagel for breakfast, peanut-butter+bread for lunch, a bananna later in the day and at night I typically have a large bowl of oatmeal (rolled 5minute non-fortified oats). During the weekend it has been a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast and lunch and typically beans for dinner. As gross as this might sound, I do occasionally add some mustard greens and/or salsa which I to the dinner-oatmeal or the beans.
Avatar m tn Hi I'm a 20 year old male who has been having off and on diarrhea, stomach pain, bloating, and weakness issues over the last few months. I've seen my doctor multiple times, been given different meds and advice. Also recently I've had blood tests done which were fine, and I'm waiting on the results from my stool sample. My question regards coeliac disease, in speaking with different people some people have suggested I may possibly have coeliac disease.
668044 tn?1225913014 Why did your doc tell you to avoid bread, milK, coffee and tea? Are you allergic to these foods? Do you have a wheat intolerance, like celiac sprue? If you're not allergic, and you don't have celiac sprue (can't tolerate wheat or most other grains), I don't see why you can't eat these foods. High levels of caffeine are not good in pregnancy, so I can see giving up (slowly!) coffee and caffeinated tea.
