Avatar m tn Nuts and oats cost quite a lot here in Japan and what if I am not getting nutritional value for those and other food. What test should I ask for? Then I have find the Japanese for that test and a doctor who knows that name- e.g. an internal medicine doctor here didn't know what haemochromosis (Iron disorder disease) (even though I told him in Japanese) is.
Avatar f tn I was wondering at what to put the nutritional value of food over the amount of calories they contain. For example, I regulate my calories fairly closely and usually am always well under the daily recommended amount, but there are some days that I feel like I am hungry all day. As a general rule, I enjoy eating raw mixed nuts as a snack, but they tend to be high in calories.

Avatar n tn Juice covers a lot -- virtually anything can be juiced if you're doing this yourself. Fruit juices contain a lot of sugar, but can also be powerful antioxidants, but vegetable juices can be very valuable. Wheatgrass juice is great. So this depends on what you mean by nutritional juices. Most important, avoid anything that's not organic. When you juice anything, you use a lot of it, and that enhances the amount of harmful chemicals that exist on whatever you're juicing.
Avatar m tn Blood pressure and cholesterol are two different problems. Blood pressure can have all kinds of sources, but cholesterol, except in rare cases of genetic problems, is related to your diet. I believe both of these problems, if not so high as to be immediately a danger, are best handled naturally than with medication providing the natural approach works. This means changes in diet, exercise, and taking certain remedies.
Avatar f tn M bored of eating bread, oats, toast, Indian paratha. What else can I eat guys which is quick to make n tasty n healthy too. Need suggestions n recipes plsss. ....
8793709 tn?1409594060 I do the same as you, except that when hubby gets home I turn the stove back on to reheat it instead of microwave. I believe that even if it loses a little bit of the nutritional value, it's still healthier and cheaper than ordering or eating out.
Avatar n tn I wonder if it is possible that my IBS problem involving gluten not only affects the gut, but also heartbeats? I have been eating quick oats for a while, in the belief that oats dont contain gluten, but maybe 15 mins after breakfast I start to get rapid heartbeat & a strange fluttering feeling in the stomach, + wanting to sleep. I have substituted puffed millet for 2 days & the symptoms dont happen, but flavoured gluten free rice biscuits bring it on at lunch time!
325405 tn?1262290178 I think if you freeze it, you would take away from the nutritional value. You could get the same nutritional value from eating bean sprouts on a salad. Would be easier for you.
1417802 tn?1282173063 Sorry to hear about your treatment not being effective.are you going to be treating again with the new DAA"s that are going to be coming out soon? There are many elixir"s and supplements people are taking for nutritional value and some it seems have value in regards to keeping liver counts (enzyme )readings lower. If the Hepa feels their is no harm ,and markers don"t rise..then yes nothing to lose Keep us informed and good luck.. Will.
Avatar f tn consume lean protein throughout the day. Here are some quick and easy ways to work this into every meal. BREAKFAST: eggs, egg whites, lean breakfast meats, Greek yogurt, smoothies with protein powder. LUNCH OR DINNER: salmon, chicken breasts, extra-lean ground turkey, extra-lean ground beef, turkey or chicken sausage, lean beef , tuna, cod, shrimp, tofu.
Avatar n tn By the way, the Quick or Instant oats have a higher glycemic index than the old-fashioned oats (I read this in an article about type 1 diabetes a few months ago), and this means that they cause a sharper blood sugar rise after eating them than do the old-fashioned ones. As a type 1 diabetic, I can attest to a difference in how quickly the sugars are absorbed between the two types of oats. So for all diabetics, it is healthier to eat old-fashioned oats than the quick or instant ones.
Avatar f tn Just want to say, if it only takes 10 minutes you're not cooking oats, you're cooking rolled oats, and probably quick oats at that, meaning they're already partially cooked and much of the fiber is gone. Whole oats take about an hour to cook. And if you have to add sugar or honey, you're not buying good quality oats -- oats are naturally sweet and don't really need any added sugar.
Avatar f tn I suggest you eat frequent small meals and stop counting calories. Take up lots of fresh fruits, vegetables, oats and other whole grain products and lean meat and take carbohydrates in moderation and limit fat and sugar. Week by week slowly increase the exercise which should include both aerobics and strength training. Drink plenty of water and non fattening fluids such as clear soups etc. Look for hidden calories in salads and soups and avoid them (eg: cheese, butter, dressings etc).
Avatar f tn Generally, you should try to eat things that have varied nutritional value and things considered 'healthy' but some cheesecake here and there doesn't hurt.
Avatar f tn So basically I struggle eating and would like to have a simple one off meal that's serves all my nutritional needs. I just forget to eat and because of this I'm underweight. Trying my best to put weight on but it's hard for me. So I came across homemade protien bars. made from oats, protien powder, peanut butter, almonds, milk, honey, chocolate, almonds and I decided to add in a multivitamin crushed into the flatjack mix. Isn't much fiber tho.
1544053 tn?1328691992 My dog likes apples. I give her about a 1/4 apple, cut into tiny pieces as treats. At apple time, she often picks her own from the low branches of the trees in the orchard! So I make sure she doesn't get any apple seeds too because they are toxic. Grapes are definitely toxic for dogs. NO grapes! Raisins are the same, ditto sultanas, currants, etc. I've heard of dogs who like bananas, but mine doesn't. Corn....
Avatar f tn Special K makes a Flatbread breakfast sandwich that's good for low sugar diet...not sure what the fat content is like.
Avatar f tn You can eat them but you have to eat some thing else with them because they have NO nutritional value for you or baby.
Avatar m tn 30 minutes is about how much a patient can retain. Suggest developing a shorter nutritional assessment form for quick assessment. You should have information from the MD ahead of time that would shorten the length of time doing the assessment. Then educate them on the most important aspects that are pertinent to their disease state. Have them come in for other education sessions, as needed.
Avatar m tn I hate to be like this but most of the items (if not all) the items listed consist of total unhealthy junk food with zero nutritional value. It is clear the person put a lot of time and research into the list but I am just saying.
Avatar n tn Beer has some nutritional value also.
7489014 tn?1429908568 Spicy is good but Cheetos are kind of like processed junk food. :>) I would try to limit that and go for more healthy options or something with more nutritional value for you and baby. Doesn't mean you can't have some spicy hot Cheetos from time to time though.
