325405 tn?1262290178 I think if you freeze it, you would take away from the nutritional value. You could get the same nutritional value from eating bean sprouts on a salad. Would be easier for you.
Avatar f tn You can eat anything except unpasteurized cheese like feta and brie. And you can't eat raw fish or meat. You can't eat shark swordfish or tilefish. You have to warm up delimeat before eating including hotdogs. Other than that you can't eat what you want really.
Avatar f tn Pears, pear juice, and pear sauce can also be helpful, as pears can help hasten healing of the lungs. Other helpful foods include fenugreek and alfalfa sprouts, garlic, pomegranate, and all forms of fermented milk such as yogurt and kefir. plenty of fresh air, rest, light, exercise, and relaxation. Juice Therapy: Combine raw potato juice with an equal amount of carrot juice. Add one teaspoon of olive or almond oil and one teaspoon of honey, and drink three glasses each day.
Avatar f tn I am saddened when I see people buy a 50-pound bag of inferior bargain brand food that the bird will not finish for years. That food would have no practical nutritional value and I feel very badly for the pet bird. Even leaving a bag of food in a hot car will change the nutritional value of the food and lose most of its vitamins as well. Also, whenever you introduce a new diet to your pet, you want to do it gradually.
Avatar f tn One study showed that eating 2.5 ounces of broccoli sprouts (they look like alfalfa sprouts) daily for 2 months may help. Also, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center website, foods with flavonoids (such as apples, cranberries, onions, garlic) can help prevent the growth of H. pylori bacteria. Have you tried eating yogurt that says it has "live and active" cultures on the label? I would try it, 2 or 3 times a day.
Avatar m tn Since 1998, more than 30 outbreaks have been reported to the CDC, due to many different kinds of sprouts -- alfalfa, bean, clover, and others. In fact, CDC's foodborne disease surveillance systems have identified 3 sprouts-associated outbreaks since June of 2010 that spread across multiple states. Lesson 3: It is difficult to grow "safe" sprouts.
Avatar m tn Sometimes large amounts of soy products, peanuts or raw cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cabbage, brussels sprouts) may slow down the thyroid, although this is controversial. Why is the diagnosis missed? There is disagreement over what TSH level signifies disease. Some doctors believe your thyroid is OK, regardless of symptoms, if your TSH is below 5.0. Many specialists regard 3.0 and below as normal. They will sometimes treat patients until it’s below 1.0, if necessary.
Avatar m tn Eat pounds of alfalfa sprouts too...im not kidding...now is the time to boost your immune system ...
579258 tn?1250649343 Basil, Parsley, Oregano, Mint, etc. Just to name a few. lol. If you really wanna go natural on the green dye, just boil down some spinach in a little bit of water. Then pluck it out and sweat most of the water out. Just be careful, that stuff stains like mad. :p But great for dying w/out worrying about what makes up that "artificial" stuff in the ingredients section. o.
Avatar f tn I was wondering at what to put the nutritional value of food over the amount of calories they contain. For example, I regulate my calories fairly closely and usually am always well under the daily recommended amount, but there are some days that I feel like I am hungry all day. As a general rule, I enjoy eating raw mixed nuts as a snack, but they tend to be high in calories.
Avatar f tn s no loss in not eating coconut, by the way -- very high in saturated fat and not all that high in nutritional value, though it does have a few antioxidants in it. It's a fad. I'm guessing in the end we'll find the coconut industry behind the very odd fixation on it all of a sudden.
Avatar f tn Random bit of info too, when my sister was pregnant she was ordering from a Thai place and she picked something from the menu and the Thai lady that served her said you shouldn't eat bamboo shoots because in her country women eat them to bring on labour! Also can't eat sprouts or beans (alfalfa, mung beans etc) not sure why? Can't eat soft serve ice cream due to raw eggs in mixture (risk of food born illness) etc can't eat deli meats...
Avatar n tn Juice covers a lot -- virtually anything can be juiced if you're doing this yourself. Fruit juices contain a lot of sugar, but can also be powerful antioxidants, but vegetable juices can be very valuable. Wheatgrass juice is great. So this depends on what you mean by nutritional juices. Most important, avoid anything that's not organic. When you juice anything, you use a lot of it, and that enhances the amount of harmful chemicals that exist on whatever you're juicing.
Avatar f tn broccoli sprouts are sprouted from tiny broccoli seeds and look like alfalfa sprouts, just chunkier and a deeper shade of green. I read it's okay to eat the kiwi with skin, like an apple - you don't have to peel it. Never tried it that way. I found a fabulous way to take the seeds out of a pomegranate: http://www.youtube.com/watch?
Avatar m tn Just started TX Monday and can't hardly keep anything down (most liquids if they are light are ok). I used to make my own fresh green drinks, but don't have the energy...at least not to keep it up on a daily basis right now. Can you suggest a good green powder...SX aside, I KNOW I need some nutrients. If I could at least do a shot of green, I wouldn't be starving my body for nutrients while I am poisoning it! Plus, shouldn't it help with toxins?
8793709 tn?1409594060 I do the same as you, except that when hubby gets home I turn the stove back on to reheat it instead of microwave. I believe that even if it loses a little bit of the nutritional value, it's still healthier and cheaper than ordering or eating out.
Avatar m tn We only noticed when we saw the drop of blood on the floor (and later found two more drops on the stove, right next to a pot of sauteed brussels sprouts). We patched her up, cleaned up the blood, and finished serving the food. Without thinking, I had the brussels sprouts for dinner.
1417802 tn?1282173063 Sorry to hear about your treatment not being effective.are you going to be treating again with the new DAA"s that are going to be coming out soon? There are many elixir"s and supplements people are taking for nutritional value and some it seems have value in regards to keeping liver counts (enzyme )readings lower. If the Hepa feels their is no harm ,and markers don"t rise..then yes nothing to lose Keep us informed and good luck.. Will.
Avatar m tn I am curious if I am still getting the same nutritional value from the uncooked oats as if I were cooking them?
Avatar m tn I agree with Gimel. however, in general, diet doesn't provide or really help thyroid hormones. The hormone is pretty much either produced by the thyroid gland, or it has to be supplmented with medication. "they" say that crruciform (cabbange, califlower, brocoli, brussel sprouts etc) are "bad" for thyroid. However you also have to balance not eating these types of foods with the other benefits those same veggies offer from a nutritional and health aspect.
Avatar n tn My guess is that if anyone knows it will be a naturopath, and a quite good one at that, not an MD. My other guess is, a with most plants, contraindications are mostly theoretical, as virtually no serious studies have been done, which makes it difficult to answer such questions.
535822 tn?1443976780 Stomach acid also helps you absorb important micronutrients like calcium and magnesium, so taking these drugs means you’re more likely to develop a nutritional deficiency. And the older you are, the worse these drugs are for you––you make less stomach acid as you age, so you need even more calcium and magnesium to stay healthy.
41502 tn?1223517053 I have a heart buddy that ended up with salmonella (also found in chicken and had some trouble with alfalfa sprouts). It went systemic in her and she's not sure yet if it's all cleared up even yet. Do be careful handling meat products.
