Avatar n tn If you are having problems with your 3 year old eating (as I was last year), you should try these new nutrition bars with a seed/grain called salba. I dont like most of the "nutrition" bars out there with the chocolate coatings and food coloring. But after a friend recommended them, I tried the salba bars and I was pleasantly surprised. They're really, really yummy and my son is practically addicted to them (not to mention me).

Little things like "loving Diet Pepsi" or "not liking icing on cake" can help. I'm a teacher at a highschool and I have several students who "share" my stash of diet drinks or granola bars for lows. Ask your favorite teacher who has type 2 on the staff. Even better, they usually have a refridgerator.
Avatar m tn Well, I know you say you don't have time to get to the gym, but that is what will boost your appetite and help build the muscle you're looking for. Even if you can't do it regularly, try to at least go for a jog around your block once or twice a week or do workout videos (like the well-known P90X videos) that are quick to whip you into shape at home. As for meal plans, combining complex carbs and protein is your best bet for gaining muscle.

What can I put in my smoothie, like protein or something that will help me get my morning nutrition. Before pregnancy I didn't care, but I am 13 weeks and I want to make sure I'm doing this right. I make a large batch of Almond Power Bars, (a recipe for protein bars I got from my Maximized Living Chiropractor). Is there a way to calculate the nutritional value of one serving so that I can add it to my tracker?
Avatar m tn I was in the habit of taking granola bars/digestive biscuits/crispy nuts bar/croissants etc to curb my hunger when the lunch is delayed or when breakfast is skiped. So it become a habit and I used to keep them in store at office for frequent consumption.Recently I heard about the transfat menace and how dangerously it will affect the arteries. So what is the guarantee that eating these items will improve the health or is it the reverse??

Well, my honeymood period is ending, so i know im gonna have to start eating on time, and doign what is needed. My question, im a reallly picky eater, and being a diabteic dosnt help that out much.
Avatar f tn I found that Zofran, the nausea medicine, made mine worse. Try cutting down on proteins and breads (still eat them, healthy nutrition is vital at this point), but eat more fiber enriched foods. For me, Fiber one meal bars really helped get things moving in my tummy, and got rid of the gas and bloating. I hope that helps!
Avatar n tn Hi Lurius, Net carbs are getting lots of attention these days because of all the Atkins dieters, but it's actually long been an important concept for diabetics who do carbohydrate "counting" and then try to match our insulin to the amount of carbos we're eating. Foods that have carbos typically have a combination of carbos that we can metabolize (and therefore will affect our BG) and those that we can't (fiber). We subtract fiber from total carbs to get net carbs.
Avatar m tn doesnt exercise eats whatever she wants including icecream by the gallon, tons of candy bars and junk food. rarely any "real" food. smokes 2 packs a day. Her entire foot and calf now have a black undertone with black veins(or atleast that what it looks like) and are swollen. also having problems with her vision and holding on to things. shes in constant pain. Is there anything we can do to get her to take care of herself. or is she to far gone? Is it likely that she'll die soon?

That will require even more calories. Make sure that proper nutrition and slow gain are central parts of your plan.
