what type of neurological syndrome could cause trouble swallowing, numbness in lips, tongue and lower face?
Now, for the past few days I have numbness in the left side of my lips and sometimes left side of my tongue, it is worse some hours and better some other hours but it is gradually getting worse. Is it related to my diagnosis and if it is, what kind of pituitary adenoma might cause lip numbness? I will do another MRI next week, but my Dr usually doesnt explain much to me, would appreciate your recommendation.
The tip of my tongue keeps feeling numb as does the right handside of my bottom lip. Its not totally numb but maybe more tingly. Can you help me figure out what could be causing this?
I had three teeth prepped for crowns 7 weeks ago and am still suffering from a numb tongue on the right side. According to my dentist the numbness of the tongue was due to the lingual nerve being injured while the novacane was being administered. He claims it will go away in time. I've heard from others, my brother being one of them, that said their numbness went away after months not weeks of suffering with the condition and in my brother's case it was a year and a half.
lip on the right is starting to tingle mainly when I rub it and then my tongue tingles. The lips and jaw are not numb. My ears still feel blocked at times. So far no migranes or ear aches. Finding it hard to chew on the right but food just burns my tongue anyway. Left side of tongue is fine so I can taste but it's all a duller sensation. Working with this condition is tough but I'm shift work. Big test is next week, working 5 days in a row at call centre.
lips and tongue are numb and tingly on the right side like they're waking up from a shot of novacane. My mom is been having this symptom for at least a week now and she wants to know what can cause this symptoms. She's only fifty years old and never had this problem before. She went to the doctor and he said it could be the beggining of facial paralysis. Could it be something else?
Yesterday I ate a cheeseball at a party and right away my tongue was tingling and then within the hour my tongue swelled and my lips were numb. Never had this happen. Today my tongue and lips still feel funny? Worry should I go see a dr, also took bendryl all night.
Hi I was wondering if anyone could give any advice , i started around 8 weeks ago with a tingling tip of my tongue, that has lead to numb top and bottom lip and an extremely sore tongue , my face is the worst part as i have no moisture in my cheeks what so ever and cant seem to get any in no matter what i do, i feel like i have to put cream on all the time and its all been since my mouth started playing up.

I am a 21 years old and my mouth suddenly became numb three days ago and has not gone away. It has affected my tongue, all sides of my mouth, gum line, as well as my lips. My gums are also bright red and the glands in my neck are sore. It started right after I left a Chinese restaurant. I have been to the doctor and talked to my mom who is a nurse practitioner. My doctor told me it was probably a viral infection but he did not listen to me very well and talked to me for about three minutes.
There is a patch under my left eye that I can trace out that acts up the most. I also get weird sensations on my tongue, lips, and scalp. Tingling in my cheeks was one of my first symptoms. It did not cause me to go to the doctor, but was certainly weird and disturbing.
My lips started to go numb yesterday, yesterday morning my lip, cheek, tongue, gums, and pallet are numb but only on one side(Left). any Ideas ?
I took a nap today for two hours and when I woke my bottom lip was numb on the left half. From the corner of the mouth to the center. My tongue felt a little swollen on that side, but not really numb. This is the first time it's happened to me. My psychiatrist put me on Remeron, 15mg, which I started 11/16.
I've been having a lot of trouble with dizziness, disorientation, more extreme fatigue, left arm asleep, and now my half my face, tongue, and lips are starting to go numb- or more like the "asleep" sensation. Problems started last night, with symptoms being added all day today. How long before I call the doctor? This is a bad weekend to need your neurologist's help.
Anyway, I went to the doctor this morning and she said swelling like this (tongue, lips) is called angiodema. She said if I continue to expose myself to this allergen (whatever it may be) the next stage could be anaphylaxis. I'm really scared. I have 2 little kids and I'm terrified of something happening. I can't avoid the allergen if I don't know what it is.:( Please help.
My entire mouth was dead numb. I couldn't talk right or chew food without my tongue getting in the way. After about 3 weeks the feeling came back on one side but since the surgery the entire left side of my mouth (tongue, gums and lower left side of my mouth) have remained numb where I can stick a pin in it and wouldn't feel it at all. This has caused me to eat only on the right side of my mouth. Chewing is difficult because I cannot feel my tongue, I sometimes bite it without knowing.
Similiar thing happened to me awhile back. Started with my lips going numb then was the left side of my face. I went to the ER and they all freaked ruling out a stroke, so maybe you should go check it out!! Better to be safe than sorry. BTW it wasnt a stroke, they had no clue!
Hi, i have the exact same symptoms as you except half my tongue is also halfway numb..numb bottom lip, teeth, gums esp in front..ugh i sooo hope this goes away. its been 2 weeks for me and mine hasnt progressed that i can tell. im not tingling that i know of in the lips. it more feels like a burning sensation when i touch it. my chin is extremely numb..the numbest part is right under my bottom lip on my chin in one patch. this ***** so bad.
It mostly happens with my hands, but also with my legs and entire arms and even lips. It's hard to tell if something is touching the part of the body or not. and very hard distinguishing texture. I'm dying to find out what it is...
I have numbness of lower Rt. jaw, chin, and lips past removal of Rt. lower wisedom tooth 6 days post-op. (tongue is not effected.). I knew there was a 20% chase of this going into surgery due to my age (44) and root formation impacted around nerve. But, I had a nasty bacteria (smelly) in the wisdom tooth that would not go away after a couple of rounds of PCN and special rinses. Why does the numbness increase at night?
Within a month it came back and then cleared up within a month, but each time I get this it stays longer. At present I've had this problem since March. My lips as well as my tongue have a numb feeling, but I notice my lips are sensitive to spicy or acidic foods.
I'm a week and a half into double therapy, took my second pegasys shot on monday. I've noticed over the last week that I've had a slight numbness/tingling in my lips and the tip of my tongue. I had a seizure last wednesday and they also doubled my seizure meds. Has anyone else had this with tx? I'm thinking it could also be from the increase in seizure meds or after effects of the seizure, and I really don't know which dr to call about it.
It is very difficult to describe but my lips feel salty, dry and inflamed all the time. Now the sensitivity of my tongue has increased and it is painful to eat ice cream or have an ice cube in my mouth. I have never had any of these symptoms before and am starting to wonder what is going on. I have burned my mouth before and it always heals within a few days. This is driving me crazy. Please help.
This might seem like an odd question, but, has anyone had their tongue go numb, just in the middle of the whole tongue, and wavy sides ( kinda like the sides of a shell) , that is what is happening on me.... with red little bumps on the side too. Both sides of my tongue are wavy and red, I took some benadryl and it does not seem to help...... Just wondering, ???
I lost the ability to write/type with my left hand - so now I can't do my old job as engineer/fire marshal ~ who cares, no real problem (so the world will suffer a bit more without my help ~ to hell with the world!). But this numb left side of my tongue/lips/chin sux dirty doggy di*ks! The slur is bad enough, but biting my damn tongue will put me into an uncontrollable rage - I'm so helpless and it happens without ANY FREAKING THING I CAN DO ABOUT IT.
Sometimes I have a dry mouth and other times my mouth is slimy as if a slug lives in there. It causes numb spots on my face, lips and nose sometimes and I find it hard to swallow. I allways have to have a drink when I am eating. I have been to the doctor and the dental hospital and both say there is nothing wrong with me and want me to go on anti-depressants. I know I am not depressed and refuse to take them. I am wondering now if it could be anything to do with the hormone patch I am on.
Has anyone experienced tongue pain? Several months ago I was having pins/needles on the tip of my tongue and way back along the upper part of my throat. Thias subsided for quite some time and all of a sudden the other night I had pain along the bottom right side of my tongue. It felt so strange, not excruciating, just enogh to be bothersome. Last night I had the same pain, but acoss the entire bottom and all the way to the back of my tongue - almost made me feel like I was going to gag.
At this point, it is happening once to twice a month including swollen lips and tounge. I have tried allegra, zyrtec, claritin and benadryl. It is now lasting 2 to 3 days. Does anyone know anything about something like this? My glands are not swollen. Thanks.
