Common Questions and Answers about Not eating gluten

Avatar f tn One possible cause is Celiac disease, which would cause gluten to make her sick. Gluten is in so many foods it is hard to figure out on your own. She should get tested for gluten allergy before stopping gluten. She can feel much better.
Avatar f tn Part of the problem with gluten-free diets is eating the gluten-free processed foods, which are loaded with sugar and starches and other unhealthy options, which can just reinforce the desire to consume more of them. There are good ones found in health food stores, but even there most have unwanted and unhealthy ingredients. But being gluten-free doesn't limit the diet all that much if you just eat the gluten-free whole foods people have always eaten.
144210 tn?1273088782 I read the article. I don't get it. If you do not have Celiac, I did not see where following the "Gluten Free diet" has been shown to reverse Liver fibrosis. I have had the test for Celiac and it was negative. I eat whole wheat cereal with soy milk and will continue to do so. Like Forseegood, my friend, I have to eat about six small meals a day, and I get a lot of veggies and fruit. Forseegood: Hi! I've been in touch with HR and he has been most helpful.
Avatar m tn Well oats have gluten. At least during their processing some gluten is added. However since oats are not gluten rich, many people with gluten intolerance or sensitivity tolerate oats. Also gluten free oats are available. Dizziness on standing up can be due to postural or orthostatic hypotension, anemia, cervical spondylosis Please discuss this with your doctor. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn Definitely consider going gluten and dairy free. Everyone but one person I know with FM has trouble with gluten and dairy. Also, since going gluten and dairy free I don't have the major eczema flare ups on my hands any more.
Avatar m tn For example 50% of people who have gluten sensitivity also react to dairy, even though dairy (or other the cross-reactive foods) do not actually contain gluten, your body thinks they do and therefore the inflammation response is the same as if it were gluten. There are tests available, but many of them are not sensitive enough to diagnose these sensitivities, so they could easily be missed.
Avatar f tn ITS GENETIC...CAN BE TREATED...JUST QUIT EATING ANYTHING WITH GLUTEN IN IT. MY DAUGHTER WAS AND IS TREATED FOR EXZEMA...IBS...INDOCRINE SYSTEM DISEASE...HER FATHER HAS COLITIS, HER BROTHER (MY SON) HAS CROHNS.....SHE HAS IBS... READ UP ON IT...." GLUTEN INTOLERANCE OR CELIAC......YOU'LL BE SHOCKED AT WHAT YOU SEE. SEE IF YOU HAVE ALL THE SYMPTOMS...OR HALF.
Avatar m tn Another possibility is he might have a gluten intolerance. He should cut out gluten from his diet as well and see if it helps at all!
Avatar f tn I have been feeling nauseated after eating for about two weeks now. It happens when i eat anything, wheather it be a meal or a snack. Ex: chicken, rice, gronala bars, pudding, apples, grapes, brocoli and ect. For the past year now i have had off and on pains in my upper right and left(never at the same time) abominal and they kinda feel like stabbing pains when i get them. They usually come about when im standing up and moving around lifting heavier things.
Avatar n tn There are many kinds of whole grain rices. These are gluten-free. Other gluten-free grains are wild rice (not actually a rice), quinoa (there are three colors), millet, amaranth and teff. I don't know how overweight you are, but you shouldn't be getting congested in your chest when you eat. So, I hope the tips I just told you about will help you, too. Food sensitivities can do what you're talking about.
Avatar m tn Is dizziness upon standing a symptom of gluten intolerance, wheat allergy , or oat allergy? I have read that oats don't have gluten is this true, or will they affect people who are gluten intolerant? Im pretty sure they do affect me.
Avatar n tn Many people think they have a healthy diet and consume all kinds of wheat gluten. Gluten intolerance is not uncommon.
Avatar f tn There are a ton of books out there for this, as it's quite a fad these days even for people who don't have Celiac, so I'd look into that. But cooking gluten free isn't any different from cooking with gluten unless you're making bread or cookies -- most foods don't contain gluten so you're already eating mostly gluten free unless all you eat is bread and pasta.
Avatar f tn I've been experiencing lightheadedness after eating for about 8 weeks. I'm 61, not overweight. The lightheadedness is followed by sweating, stiff neck and fatigue. The biggest trigger is refined sugars; it can be as long as an hour delay with other foods. Fruit isn't a trigger. I've tried smaller, more frequent low carb meals, which helps, but not entirely. The symptoms are milder on days when I do cardio.
268911 tn?1213744781 5 months wtih this and still figuring out what I can eat. Even the smallest amount of gluten can set you off. Eating out is no longer an option for you unless you eat a grilled chicken salad and squeeze a lemon on top for taste. You can do this. Please keep me posted. If I find a new recipie I will let you know. I cant believe I just said I would "swap" a recipie....that will cost me 10 "man points.
4259230 tn?1352142289 I have had abdominal pain for over 8 years along with nausea every time I ate anything. I would bounce from constipation to diarrhea. After numerous tests drs deemed me IBS. It wasn't till years later and ripping my diet apart that I realized I am gluten intolerant. Now it seems that I have a food allergy as well. My joints hurt when I eat gluten, cellulose, and hydrogenated oils(my intestines swell up and feel inflammed and like they are going to fall out of my body.
Avatar f tn I have been trying to eat really bland and no dairy - do not drink milk but do like other dairy but staying away. Not sure what gluten is in but thought a lot of foods. I am working on changing eating more! Thank you!
Avatar f tn After SEVERAL doctor and hospital visits; complaining of constant yawning ( or incomplete yawning), and deep breaths... none of the doctors would listen to EXACTLY what I was telling them. My symptoms were constant but were worse after eating. It seemed like my abdomin was somewhat bloated, and pushing upward, making it harder to breath. As of 5 days ago, and a NEW doctor, we have finally narrowed that I either have "silent reflux" or "celiac disease".

Avatar f tn I can see why you're concerned. I don't know how long it took you to gain the 40 pounds, but 40 lb. is a significant amount of weight, even if it accumulated over a long period of time. There's nothing about eating gluten-free, per se, that should make you gain that much weight. Most people stay close to the same weight after they go GF.
Avatar f tn For instance, I have had 2 salads today with no problem but last night after eating gluten free lasagna I was miserable. Thank you for your advice.
Avatar f tn Welcome to the gastroenterology community! Did he start vomiting again when he started eating gluten again? He may not have a gluten allergy but he may be sensitive to gluten. If he feels better when not eating gluten, then don't let him eat gluten. Also, in rare cases, the biopsy will be normal even though the person has celiac disease. Have they figured out why he has ulcers?
Avatar m tn The best probiotic I could get my hands on is raw milk. I know it's controversial but if you know your farmer, or live in a state where it's legal to buy in stores then you really cannot beat it for probiotics. I've been drinking it for over 10 years and it completely healed my gut issues and don't get lactose intolerance from it at all. Not to mention is cures those pesky bladder infections!
1448936 tn?1363206346 I think that's a good idea you're trying this. For lactose, eliminate all milk, cheese, butter, yogurt, etc. This means no pastries and certain breads. If you go out to eat while trying to cut out lactose, you need to check for every item to make sure there is no butter. Check the ingredients of everything you are eating at home. Don't eat any whey. Do this for at least 2 weeks to see if it helps your symptoms.
Avatar m tn Because I think that after a long time not eating any gluten or milk our organism can start back processing them ?? It’s a lack of enzymes I think??
6224500 tn?1388947668 I have been getting a lot of digestive problems after eating gluten/lactose containing food and drink, however I only seem to be getting these issues in the morning. Typical pattern each day: I eat gluten/wheat/flour/lactose containing food in the morning and within 5-20 minutes I get bloating, gas and a sudden urge to go the toilet but am constipated (it comes out hard and in small bits).
