norvasc

Avatar f tn I'm a 64 yrs. old woman who used to take Diovan 320 mg. & Toprol 50 mg. for my B.P. My B.P. readings was okay but my Doctor discontinued the Toprol because my heart rate usually on the 40's. I am currently taking Norvasc 5mg. with the Diovan 320 mg. So far, my B.P. readings is very good, 110/70. But eversince I started the Norvasc, my left leg is swelling and it is becoming worst. I'd like to ask my Doctor to discontinue the Norvasc.
Avatar n tn Several years ago my doctor said I could go off it as I was on Norvasc and Diovan. Based on a 24 BP monitor, it was discerned I did not need the Atenolol. I was able to cut my dose to 25mg. but cannot get off it. I become irritable, jittery and have a short fuse. Recently, became a vegan and my BP has dropped so I tried to d/c the atenolol once again. Will I ever be able to get off this med. my BP is 101/60 just on 5 mg. of Norvasc.
343006 tn?1314446471 I think you should find a new doctor. Most BP meds cause nasty side-effects such as allergies, nasal congestion, sneezing, itching eyes and nose, at least for me. I had to get off ACE, ARB, and alpha blockers. I am now on beta blocker Bystolic. Tired and slower heart rate. Some allergic reaction but not as bad as Diovan, Norvasc, Altace, Exforge, Cardura. I don't know much about CCB;s in general. I empathise with you and wish you the best.
1260320 tn?1270394906 I have tried numerous - norvasc, coversyl, enalapril, atenolol, diovan, propranolol n god knows what else. Out of all these, I have actually found one that suits me - nif-ten (a combination of nifedipine & atenolol). Unfortunately, it has a side effect of causing gum disease/periodontal. I am looking out for other meds to replace this.
542287 tn?1280610367 Once I returned to sinus rythm for a few months, I noticed an increase in skipped (or premature) beats that was advancing over time. A follow up with my Cardiologist said that he was unhappy with my BP of 138/90. I started Diovan 80 mg daily which has reduced the BP to approx 110/70. This has definitely reduced my skipped beats.
640719 tn?1277140030 I have had the same symptoms, Numbness on the bottom of the toes and balls of the feet, prior to December 2008, I was on Metoprolol for High Blood Pressure and now I am on Diovan, I do not have a problem with water, although since I started on treatment for Hashi's I have had an on and off swelling and pain in the ball and bottom of toes on my right foot.
Avatar m tn Hello, This is my story: About 3 months ago I went to the emergency room due to palpitations. I was 230 lbs and not eating well. My height is 5' 9". That night I felt my heart skipping beats. I could not sleep that night thinking I was having a heart attack. The ER doctor said my heart was fine and all I had was too much adrenaline, and gave me Norvasc (which I didn't take). My family doctor then referred me to a cardiologist. I had a stress test with a nuclear imaging.
523728 tn?1264621521 My bp has been controlled by 80 mg. Diovan until my second round of chemo. Since I am in a clinical trial, I do not know whether or not I get Avastin, only know for sure about Carbo/Taxol. Anyone experience hypertension induced by chemo? My head hurts, it's hovering around 155/105, not good.
Avatar m tn I am on Diovan 80mg with a water pill 12.5mg. I take this pill everyday and it is doing nothing for my bp. I have taken Norvasc, Atenolol, and Hydrochlorothiazide in the past and had no relief. I can feel my heartbeat all over my body (fingers, toes, temples, top of head, stomach, neck, ears, eyes) and can also see it in my chest, stomach, neck, and sometimes my wrists.
Avatar m tn The ER doctor said it was normal and to lose some weight. I got sent home with NORVASC 50mgs which I only took 4 tablets until I saw my family doctor.
Avatar n tn isn't the norvasc (5mg) enough to control his blood preasure if it keeps it in a low enough range?
Avatar f tn Not sure this is of any help to you other than to say I had no problems with the procedures or with recovery, really a "non-event" in my experience. I guess that's to your question. I say, why not if there is any chance there is a problem that can be found by that examination? Overall you appear to be in great physical shape, the EF could be higher, mine is about 60% following mitral valve repair. I will be 70 in June. I suffer from AFib.
Avatar n tn I take 5mg Norvasc with 100 mg of a beta blocker(Lopressor) and Isosorbide (Nitrate) and Tricor every morning without any problems. But I am confused as to why Norvasc and Cardizem. They are both calcium channel blockers. Maybe someone can enlighten me on that. Have you talked to your pharmacist about any concerns?
459164 tn?1206363843 Does Diovan have a beneficial effect for patients with glaucoma? if Yes how does it help the symptoms of glaucoma?
Avatar f tn I don't know how soon you're going to see your cardiologist, but for gosh sakes, if the scan confirmed the ultrasound's problem with the kidney artery, then you should be in his office ASAP and he ought to be addressing that issue forthwith. As for the further test that causes an allergy problem, perhaps they could do it without the contrast dye.
Avatar f tn I found this on the all experts - hypertension forum. According to the answer below - this treatment is appropriate......read on. Expert: Charles Cusumano, FMP, PA-C Date: 8/22/2005 Subject: Hypertension - Medication Question Dear Dr. Cusumano, My question pertains to the possibility of combining the following two drugs: Tenormin; and Norvasc. Currently, I take 100 mg Tenormin in a single dose. In fact, I have been taking this for the past 5 years.
Avatar m tn This can be caused by your heart pausing suddenly for a long moment, plaques in your carotid arteries, or a sudden drop in blood pressure for some other reason...Syncope can occur with Diovan, but it is usually because of the patient getting up too fast and their blood pressure was unable to compensate for the sudden position change...
Avatar n tn I was on Norvasc but my Dr. changed to Cardizem, I have trouble swalloing and the Norvasc dissolved in my mouth quickly to make it easier to take, the Cardizem Er is a big capsule that is hard to take, should I ask my Dr to go back on Norvasc?? they both seem to work equally well....
Avatar f tn Yes, but I would advise you get the doctors ok before doing this. It's always good to make your doctor aware of what's going on with you and your meds before you make any changes, as heart medications are a dangerous thing to play with. I only say it's ok to take the two together because I am an RN and know that Clonidine is commonly prescribed as an as needed medication for breakthrough hypertension. So I would make a call to your doctor before making changes.
Avatar f tn my Dad went to see our family doctor. had his blood work and ecg done and showed no sign of heart attack over the weekend. the cardiologist and physician talked and they put my dad back to metoprolol 25mg with the diovan 160/12.5mg. so now he's on lipitor 80mg once daily, metoprolol 25mg (2x daily), diovan, and aspirin 81mg. any comment on this prescription mix? thanks so much for your advice.
404682 tn?1324579818 You should work with your doctor to find a drug that works for you. The one with the fewest side effects would be an ARB that works by keeping your arteries pliable so they can help absorb each heart beat and lower your BP and the stress on your heart. The bad part about ARBs is that they are expensive and not covered by all insurance plans without first trying all other possibilities.
Avatar n tn i just looked on drugs.com on their interactions checker and between the two there were no interactions found, However, there are interactions with other medications. You should look at that site, it gives a lot of good information about all kinds of medication, like your second medication Norvasc shouldn't be taken with grapefruit. Hope that helps.
2095551 tn?1333122531 Is there any other drug out there that will work the same way to open up small blood vessels like Norvasc but wont have the "bad swelling of legs and feet?" Anyone, please me know know, looking forward to hearing from you...
