I'm a 64 yrs. old woman who used to take Diovan 320 mg. & Toprol 50 mg. for my B.P. My B.P. readings was okay but my Doctor discontinued the Toprol because my heart rate usually on the 40's. I am currently taking Norvasc 5mg. with the Diovan 320 mg. So far, my B.P. readings is very good, 110/70. But eversince I started the Norvasc, my left leg is swelling and it is becoming worst. I'd like to ask my Doctor to discontinue the Norvasc.
Several years ago my doctor said I could go off it as I was on Norvasc and Diovan. Based on a 24 BP monitor, it was discerned I did not need the Atenolol. I was able to cut my dose to 25mg. but cannot get off it. I become irritable, jittery and have a short fuse. Recently, became a vegan and my BP has dropped so I tried to d/c the atenolol once again. Will I ever be able to get off this med. my BP is 101/60 just on 5 mg. of Norvasc.
For 3yrs I had controlled HT w/Lisin/HCTZ 20/25 & Norvasc 5mg. I was a very healthy 44yo Fe, 4'10 110lbs. In Jan 07 my ins co said they wanted me to switch from Norvasc to Lotrel because they were "the same". My Dr kept me on the Lisin/HCTZ & added Lotrel 5/40. 12 days later I collapsed. At the ER my BP was 56/48, I was discharged 3 hrs later at 80/54. Things haven't been the same since.
t want to take fossamax or any more drugs than necessary, but also do not want a recurrence of breast cancer. Is there a clinical study and shows femara vs placebo rather than femara vs tamoifen (novartis trial)? What is the general recommendation? Can you stop femara if side effects become a quality of life issue? Thank you.

This is my story:
About 3 months ago I went to the emergency room due to palpitations. I was 230 lbs and not eating well. My height is 5' 9". That night I felt my heart skipping beats. I could not sleep that night thinking I was having a heart attack. The ER doctor said my heart was fine and all I had was too much adrenaline, and gave me Norvasc (which I didn't take). My family doctor then referred me to a cardiologist. I had a stress test with a nuclear imaging.
I am on Diovan 80mg with a water pill 12.5mg. I take this pill everyday and it is doing nothing for my bp. I have taken Norvasc, Atenolol, and Hydrochlorothiazide in the past and had no relief. I can feel my heartbeat all over my body (fingers, toes, temples, top of head, stomach, neck, ears, eyes) and can also see it in my chest, stomach, neck, and sometimes my wrists.
The ER doctor said it was normal and to lose some weight. I got sent home with NORVASC 50mgs which I only took 4 tablets until I saw my family doctor.
I want to stick to my baby aspirin, Diovan 80/day, lipitor 20/day and vitamins and Calcium. Am I being foolish in making this decision and refusing to be cathed?
Is okay to take 2.5 mg of Norvasc, 120mg Cardizem and Topamax?

Mother just started on Norvasc already on Tenormin. Now I've heard there is a problem with the two drugs together causing heart failure. Is that really happening? Please my mother will stop Norvasc unneccassarily if I can't find out the real information about this. She is limited on drug options so this is important. Thanks so very much.
my dad had a triple bypass last apr 21. last saturday, jul 4/2009 he started on diovan 160/12.5 (from corvesy+) and since Sat he's been experiencing chest pains that is not going away. is this a side effect? is he allergic to the this new med he's taking or is this angina? should he get himself to an ER?
It was decided to add Norvasc 5mg INSTEAD of Nifedipine, since Norvasc was used/tolerated well in the past. Began taking Norvasc 5mg along with Lorsartan 100mg and Atenolol 25mg (all 1x daily) approximately 3 days ago, and the blood pressure is still running extremely high. This morning reading was 186/85 and tonight 176/110!!! Worried that this can be dangerous. What should be done? How long until the BP goes to a "normal" range? Does the doctor need to increase the Norvasc dosage?
When I take the generic for Norvasc, my feet swell; this does not happen when I do not take the medication. Will natural diaretics help with this. My diastolic pressure hovers around 90; systolic comes down easily with the Norvasc; diastolic is slower to respond.
I have started taking Norvasc for Hypertension and am having side effects such as nausea, headache, and it seems to be causing some eye pain and pressure. My concern is that I had retinal detachment surgery in March of 2008 and have not had any pain until I started taking Norvasc 5mg. daily. Is this a side effect that is normal and will it subside or is it a reason to discontinue this drug?
I am also taking diovan 80.12.5 once a day. I would like to get off this medication as it is making me very sluggish and tired all the time. How do I wean off this medicine as I am only taking it for one month.
