1243333 tn?1296446902 I take 10mg of norvasc twice a day, along with a 100mg of topral xl twice a day, and 300/320 of valturna, just recently the cattapress was increase to 3 initally it seemed to work - was on the hydrochlorothiazide but it was causing my heart to pause, so they stopped it, not sure why the spirolactone except maybe that I have trouble maintaning potassium levels.
Avatar m tn She has an irregular heartbeat and she takes Flecainide twice a day. She just got out of the hospital last night after what we thought was a heart attack with chest pain but it turned out to be fine. She was previously tested a few months back and her Echo, Carotid Ultrasound and Stress Test were ok but other than blood work at the hospital, heart rate monitoring and a chest x-ray, no other tests were done at the hospital.
Avatar f tn Norvasc 10 mg 1 x day was prescribed to take instead of Clonidine .1mg 2 x day. However, the Norvasc is not working after 12 hrs. My B/P is 150/113 12 hrs after taking the norvasc. Can I take a clonidine .1 mg along with the norvasc?
Avatar f tn Edema is a common side effect of the Norvasc and a low dose thiazide diuretic will take care of the swelling and also help the BP.
2095551 tn?1333122531 I am also on Norvasc, 5 mg per day. I also take atenolol which is a beta blocker. I haven't noticed too much swelling (except in my hands at times) on the 5 mg of Norvasc and I tried 10 mg awhile back but it didn't reduce my blood pressure by much and I was worried about the increased swelling. However, adding 25 mg of atenolol significantly lowered my blood pressure into the normal range 95% of the time.
Avatar n tn changed to Cardizem, I have trouble swalloing and the Norvasc dissolved in my mouth quickly to make it easier to take, the Cardizem Er is a big capsule that is hard to take, should I ask my Dr to go back on Norvasc?? they both seem to work equally well....
Avatar m tn 9 170 but my blood pressure is always fine at home i do suffer from anxiety but it goes thru the roof when i see a doctor or go to the ER i am 27 years old, i have to see a doc once a week for another condition, but it never fails my pulse and BP rises very high in doctors settings, once i come home both my pulse and pressure is fine again , my worry and problem is how much damage is being done to my heart when my blood pressure spikes like this once a week?
Avatar n tn Hi. I take 5mg Norvasc with 100 mg of a beta blocker(Lopressor) and Isosorbide (Nitrate) and Tricor every morning without any problems. But I am confused as to why Norvasc and Cardizem. They are both calcium channel blockers. Maybe someone can enlighten me on that. Have you talked to your pharmacist about any concerns?
Avatar f tn Mother just started on Norvasc already on Tenormin. Now I've heard there is a problem with the two drugs together causing heart failure. Is that really happening? Please my mother will stop Norvasc unneccassarily if I can't find out the real information about this. She is limited on drug options so this is important. Thanks so very much.
Avatar f tn I would be more curious to find out why only one leg is swelling. Norvasc should affect only one leg. I would want to rule out a vascular problem with that leg before it gets worse.
Avatar n tn Hi...I have never heard of that med, but in research see it is used for reflux and gerd jut like the meds I am aware of. The dr will RX meds for the mgs and dosage ( times per day) per ur symptoms and how much healing u need.....I am on a gerd med and take it twice a day..... If u also modify ur diet and lifestyle u may heal a bit faster and be able to cut back on teh dosage faster.
Avatar f tn The HTN really seems to be stubborn. Wouldn't the Nephrologist be aware if renal artery stenosis is causing the HTN? What tests are able to determine if there is renal artery stenosis? Is it via blood test or CT scan/ultrasound? Which medication would you consider increasing? In regards to the prograf, currently taking 2.5mg 2x daily. Almost one year post transplant. Very worried.
672586 tn?1280933658 You were posting while I was typing. LOL Now I understand why the switch. In my case, though, I take both a beta blocker (Lopressor) and a calcium channel blocker (Norvasc). I wasn't able to take the Diltiazem. Gave me awful chest pains.
Avatar f tn For 3yrs I had controlled HT w/Lisin/HCTZ 20/25 & Norvasc 5mg. I was a very healthy 44yo Fe, 4'10 110lbs. In Jan 07 my ins co said they wanted me to switch from Norvasc to Lotrel because they were "the same". My Dr kept me on the Lisin/HCTZ & added Lotrel 5/40. 12 days later I collapsed. At the ER my BP was 56/48, I was discharged 3 hrs later at 80/54. Things haven't been the same since.
Avatar m tn 5mg daily, metoprol 25mg twice daily and I just started Ranexa 500mg twice daily. I have no energy, if I exert myself in any way the chest pain/pressure starts with sharp pains and then they radiate to the left arm and up the left side of my neck. All of my test have come back normal. This is scarring me to death and as a coal miner I'm afraid I'm going to lose my job.
Avatar f tn My concern is that I had retinal detachment surgery in March of 2008 and have not had any pain until I started taking Norvasc 5mg. daily. Is this a side effect that is normal and will it subside or is it a reason to discontinue this drug?
Avatar n tn m also taking Norvasc. Should these medications be taken together? The Norvasc was prescribed a number of years ago by a different doctor for Migraine prevention. It hasn't helped my migraines but I've continued to take it. Since they are both blood pressure meds, I'm doubtful I should take both.
739070 tn?1338603402 My migraines became less and less frequent over about 3-4mos and then stopped. I took it twice a day for quite a few years and now I just take it every few days. Every several - several months I start to feel one coming on and if I take a verapamil and excedrin migraine it goes away. I consider it a miracle drug that gave me my life back and would highly recommend giving it a try. I have never had any noticable side effects, but I have always been on a low dose.
Avatar f tn I just got out of the hospital after an episode of severe chest pains, dizziness, and pain down my arms and into my neck. I had a series of tests. several ekg's x-rays, an echo, a treadmill stress test, and an angio. the stress test was abnormal. the ekgs are showing PVC's, and the angio was normal. the cardiologist is thinking that it is the endothelials that are causing the pain. they put me o n 5 mg of norvasc, and zocor because they found my ldl's were 180.
Avatar n tn I suffered with angina for several years. Recently, I had angina that would wake me out of a dead sleep. It was diagnosed as vasospasms. I was put on Norvasc a month ago. I haven't has any angina, stable or variant. Norvasc works great for me. I have some swelling and slight dizziness with the Novasc, but the benefits far out weigh the side effects.
Avatar n tn I am always interested in your comments. I have been on 1mg of Klonopin 1 time a day for 2 years. About a month ago I cut back to .5mg 1 time a day. I would like to get off. Is this going to be difficult?....Any suggestions. Now that I am on Prozac, I may not need them anymore.
15714039 tn?1442450888 you may add few exercises as an adjunct therapy. Abdominal breathing for 10 minutes twice a day. and anal peripheral prostate massage. You may also do abdominal prostate massage. Google these phrases to get details and practice exercises regularly. Abdominal breathing will help you to wean away from the meds you are taking.
572651 tn?1530999357 then tonight I went to take my medicine for my angina and a light went off in my brain --- I started a new drug, Norvasc (a calcium channel blocker) for my angina in mid-June. This just so happens to coincide with when my bladder took charge. Could there be a connection? I sure think so from what I have found on the web. Several sites list incontinence as a primary side effect of Norvasc for women. These sites though are more anecdotal and not fact based.
